Psoriasis is a skin condition characterized by the speeds up of the life cycle of skin cells, leading to cells build up rapidly on the surface of the skin.
Symptoms of psoriasis caused by the extra skin cells form scales and red patches can be itchy and painful.
Epidemiologically, psoriasis patches can range from a few spots or large areas. The most common form of psoriasis is plaque psoriasis, a condition that induces dry, raised, red skin lesions (plaques) covered with silvery scales.
The causes of psoriasis are not identified. Researchers do not know why people with
the same health conditions in the same family, some are prone to psoriasis while others do not.
Certain risk factors such as family history, viral and bacterial infections, weakened immune systems, persistent stress, smoking, and obesity are associated with the risk of psoriasis.
Conventionally, topical corticosteroids are the most commonly prescribed medication for the treatment of the condition, particularly in patients with mild to moderate psoriasis.
If you are using corticosteroids for the treatment of psoriasis, please make sure you know all the side effects for preventive measures.
Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.
The herb has been used in traditional medicine as an anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.
On finding a potential ingredient for the treatment of psoriasis, an autoimmune and recurrent chronic inflammatory skin disorder, researchers examined a turmeric tonic as immune modulation and anti-inflammatory therapy on scalp psoriasis.
The study included a total of 40 patients with mild-to-moderate scalp psoriasis that fulfilled the inclusion criteria were randomly allocated into two groups.
The treatment group received turmeric tonic twice a day for 9 weeks, whereas the other group received a placebo applied in the same manner.
Based on the results from the assessment of baseline, weeks 3, 6, and 9, the treatment group not only significantly reduced the erythema, scaling, and the duration of lesions (PASI score), but also improved the patients' quality of life. compared to placebo.
Researchers after taking other factors into account wrote, "The clinical effects of turmeric tonic on scalp psoriasis were satisfactory overall. This formulation could be considered as a treatment for scalp psoriasis".
In order to reveal more information about turmeric anti-psoriasis activity, researchers reviewed the effect of turmeric in the inhibition of inflammatory enzymes mainly involved in the inflammatory process of psoriasis.
The study included the examination of the randomized, clinical and therapeutic benefit of a novel topical formulation, included turmeric on 34 patients with mild to moderate plaque psoriasis.
The treatment group showed a significant improvement in the symptoms of psoriasis and
the clinical and quality of life parameters compared to the untreated group.
Based on the findings, Dr. the lead scientist said, "the proposed microemulgel may well be considered as an alternative in some patients and most likely as an add-on therapeutic option for many patients suffering from plaque psoriasis".
Taken altogether, turmeric processed bioactive ingredient curcumin may be considered supplements for the treatment of psoriasis,, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of turmeric in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Herbal Angelica Sinensis in the Prevention and Treatment of Cervical Spondylosis
Degenerative disease is a progression causes degenerative cell changes due to aging, affecting tissues or organs, which will increasingly deteriorate over time. ...
Normal bodily wear and tear or lifestyle choices (such as exercise or eating habits) may worsen degenerative diseases, but this depends on the disease.
Epidemiologically, the most common degenerative diseases include
* Alzheimer's disease (AD).
*Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease).
* Cancers.
* Cystic fibrosis.
Cervical spondylosis is age-related wear and tear that affects the spinal disks in your neck.
In other words, these age-related wear and tear cause the disks to dehydrate and shrink, leading to osteoarthritis development, including bony projections along the edges of bones (bone spurs).
Cervical spondylosis is very common and worsens with age.
The most common symptoms of cervical spondylosis are, neck stiffness and pain and headache that may originate in the neck, pain in the shoulder or arms, inability to fully turn the head or bend the neck, sometimes interfering with driving, and grinding noise or sensation when the neck is turned.
On finding a natural ingredient for the prevention and treatment of degenerative diseases, scientists examined the clinical effect of cervical paravertebral nerve block combined with Mailuoning and Angelica sinensis injection in the treatment of nerve-root type cervical spondylosis.
A total of 120 patients with nerve-root type cervical spondylosis who were randomly divided into a research group (n=60) that was treated by cervical paravertebral nerve block combined with Mailuoning and Angelica sinensis injection compared to the control group which was applied with glucocorticoid nerve block therapy.
According to the results of the comparison, the total therapeutic response rate of the research group was relatively higher than the control.
By comparing various clinical effect scores between the two groups, the research group also had advantages over the control group.
Furthermore, The treatment satisfaction degree of the research group was also higher than that of the control group.
Based on the findings, researchers concluded, " application of cervical paravertebral nerve block combined with Mailuoning and Angelica sinensis injection can achieve better medical results and achieve higher treatment satisfaction degree".
Taken altogether, angelica used together with other herbal medicines may be considered an adjunct remedy for the treatment of cervical spondylosis, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Added This Queen Herb for ANTI: Ageing, Menstrual Disorders and Menopause Symptoms and More.......
Chaste tree berry processes both estrogenic and anti-estrogenic properties may be considered as a functional food for women in delayed aging progression, restored hormone balance in ameliorated menstrual disorders, and alleviated menopausal symptoms, and more........
Chaste tree berry is a species of Vitex agnus-castus, genus Vitex, belongings to the family Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean region, used in herbal medicine for thousands of year as an aphrodisiac herb and considered as Queen herb in treating menstrual problems and discomforts.
Estrogenic Property
Chaste tree berry (Vitex agnus-castus L.) displaced estrogenic ability induced the reaction of estrogen from the binding site of estrogen receptors alpha (ERalpha) and beta (ERbeta), in ameliorated the deregulation of 17β-Estradiol (E2) in exhibited the initiation and progression of cell malignancies, affecting various aspect in women body, a study by respectable Institute suggested.
According to the University of Illinois at Chicago, linoleic acid isolated from the extract of Vitex agnus-castus exerted estrogenic activity in binding to estrogen receptors, inducing certain estrogen-inducible gene expression in preserving the integrity of the genome, presented in a cell or organism.
Dr. Jarry H, the lead author in the study of "evidence for estrogen receptor beta-selective activity of Vitex agnus-castus and isolated flavones" found that besides linoleic acid, flavones derivative vitexin and Pendleton. isolated from Vitex agnus-castus (VAC) also expressed estrogenic effect as most active ERss-selective phytoestrogens.
Anti-estrogen Property
Chaste tree berry(Vitex agnus-castus), also processes anti-estrogenic property in binding the estrogen receptors for a balance between the activities of estrogen receptor ERα or ERβ.
Anti estrogenic effects is an action of binding the estrogen receptor(ERα ) and/ERβ in inhibiting the excessive levels of estrogen circulating in the body.
According to the University of Alabama in Huntsville, in the study of the potential effect of estrogen mimics or anti-estrogens in phytochemicals of popular dietary herbal supplements, researchers found that almost all herbal supplements containing phytochemical components showed a capability in binding to the human estrogen receptor and exhibit selective estrogen receptor modulation, including chaste tree berry.
Casticin, a flavonoid isolated from Vitex rotundifolia, significantly expressed an anti-estrogenic effect in reduced the prolactin release stimulated by E2 in induced inhibition of ERα mRNA expression in a concentration-dependent manner, through its anti-estrogenic effect.
In hyperprolactinemia (MIHP) induced by administration of metoclopramide dihydrochloride (50 mg/kg, tid, ip, for 10 d) in SD rats, application of casticin (10, 20, and 40 mg/kg, ip, for 7 d) reduced serum prolactin levels by 33.9%, 54.3%, and 64.7% and at(1 and 10 micromol/L) inhibited E2-induced pituitary cell proliferation by 27.7% and 42.1%, respectively through reduced levels of 17β-Estradiol (E2) significantly.
More importantly, oral administration of casticin, a flavonoid isolated from Vitex rotundifolia displayed an anti-estrogenic activity in decrease excessive levels of 17β-Estradiol (E2) significantly
Summary
Chaste tree berry(Vitex agnus-castus) exerts estrogenic components of plant extracts may constitute a potential use for some dietary supplements in human for the treatment of various estrogen-related syndromes and diseases, including breast and prostate cancers, menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis, atherosclerosis and stroke, and neurodegeneration and anti-estrogenic effects in binding estrogen receptor site to preserve the balancing of hormone expression of estrogen through ER-alpha and ERBeta inhibition and exhibition by regulating the function of some estrogen-inducible genes.
In other words, chaste tree berry stimulated estrogen receptors in release estrogen into the blood in case of deficiency or inhibited extra levels of estrogen in case of excess in maintenance hormone balancing with other sex hormones.

Chaste Tree Berry, the Best Functional Food for Treatment of Female Sex Hormone Deficiency
A renowned institute study suggested that Chaste tree berry may be a functional food for the treatment of female sex hormone deficiency.
Chaste tree berry is a species of Vitex agnus-castus, genus Vitex, belonging to the family Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean region, used in herbal medicine for thousands of years as an aphrodisiac herb and considered as Queen herb in treating menstrual problems and discomforts.
According to a joint study lead by the Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, orally administrated Vitex agnus-castus fruit improved hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis in the regulation of the reproductive system and immune system in free radical scavenger activities involved natural aging, in a d-galactose induced aging model in female mice.
Mice injected with d-galactose (500 mg/kg/d for 45 days) in seventy-two female NMRI mice (48 3-month-old normal mice and 24 18-24-month-old mice), weighing 30-35 g randomly divided into six groups: control, Vitex, d-galactose, Vitex + d-galactose, Aging, and Vitex + Aging, groups treated with Chaste tree berry or combination with herbal medicine showed a strong effect in increased the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), follicle-stimulating hormone, and luteinizing hormone.
Dr. Ahangarpour A, the lead researcher said, " Vitex can be suitable for some aging problems such as oxidative stress, female sex hormone deficiency, and an atrophic endometrium".
Furthermore, the testing of flavonoid glycosides, orientin and apigenin 3, 8-di-C-glycosides and iridoid compound, aucubin isolated from the ethanolic extract of Vitex agnus-castus fruits, also showed a significant increase in plasma progesterone and total estrogens levels and reduction in luteinizing and plasma prolactin hormones in two dose levels 0.6 and 1.2 g kg(-1) per body weight (b.w.).
Additionally, the study also found that the ethanolic extract induced a significant increase in the uterine weight which showed an interaction of the sexual hormone of progesterone and estrogen of ovariectomized rats at two dose levels comparable to that of a control group.
Dr. Jillian Stansbury, not the author of the above studies said, "Consumption of Vitex fruits by female chimpanzees as part of their natural diets has been found to dramatically increase progesterone levels in the urine, indicating an overall progesterone effect.34 One hypothesis is that reduced LH allows the follicle-stimulating hormone to dominate and can lead to decreased estrogen and testosterone and a relative increase in progesterone".
Taking together, in women, Chaste Tree Berry may have a strong effect in influencing sex hormones
production in an expression of antioxidant, anti-aging, and normalized hormone activities.

Herbal Angelica sinensis, the Potential Anti-Oxidative Stress Remedy
The expression of oxidative stress is a medical condition characterized by the imbalance of the ratio of free radicals and antioxidant enzymes produced by the host tissue.
In some cases, this reaction also is caused the long-term accumulation of toxic substances in the body, such as lead, cadmium, mercury, and arsenic.
There is no single cause of oxidative stress. Some researchers suggested that a number of factors can facilitate the onset of oxidative stress, including cigarette smoke, oxidative burst from activated macrophages, particularly, the free radicals chain reaction.
Sadly, a prolonged period of oxidative stress present in the human body can cause oxidative damage to biomolecules, (lipids, proteins, DNA) and the death of healthy cells through cytotoxicity including atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetics, rheumatoid arthritis, post-ischemic perfusion injury, myocardial infarction, cardiovascular diseases, chronic inflammation, and stroke.
Free radicals are highly reactive molecules with an unpaired electron on the outer ring of the atom.
Due to its nature to become stable, free radicals readily to donate or steal an electron from other molecules, leading to the chain of domino's effect that can not be stopped until either the electrons are paired or inhibited by antioxidants.
This chain of reaction is the cause of oxidative stress, a condition is associated with either overexpression of free radicals or depletion of antioxidant enzymes produced by the host organs.
Antioxidants are stable atom that plays a critical role in protecting the body against the attack of free radicals.
In other words, antioxidants inhibited the onset of free radicals before they can cause a chain reaction in facilitating protein, lipid, and cell damage.
Apoptosis refers to the death of cells which occurs as a normal and controlled part of an organism's growth or development associated with the limited cycle division.
Anti-apoptotic activity found in cancer is associated with the proliferation and unlimited cell cycle division for the growth of cancer.
Chemo drugs used for the treatment of cancer can also cause cancer cell death by inducing toxicity. However, the treatment also leads to the death of healthy cells and weakened immune functioning.
Angelica or Dang Qui is a herb of Genus Angelica from the family Apiaceae, indigenous to China.
The herb has been used as a Queen herb in traditional Chinese medicine antispasmodic and vasodilatory agent, and to balance the hormones in women for a normal menstrual cycle and menstruation and strengthen heart, spleen, kidneys, and liver for both men and women, etc. In other words, it is used to treat gynecological ailments, fatigue, mild anemia, and high blood pressure. It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, etc.
On finding a natural compound for the treatment of malignant tumors, the researchers examined the effects of Angelica Sinensis' polysaccharide (ASP) anti-apoptotic activity.
Based on the experimental differentiation, IN H9c2 cell, treated with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), A. Sinensis exerted protective effects against oxidative injury through its various active ingredients on the regulation of multiple pathways associated with pro-inflammatory cytokines induced by oxidative stress.
Furthermore, ASP pretreatment significantly decreased H2O2-induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis in H9c2 cells.
Moreover, H2O2-induced oxidative stress observed by the expression of oxidative stress and ER stress markers such as malondialdehyde production and lactic dehydrogenase release was also inhibited by the antioxidant activity of ASP.
Collectively, researchers said, " Conclusions Our findings indicate that ASP, a major water-soluble component of A. Sinensis, exerts protective effects against H2O2-induced injury in H9c2 cells by activating the ATF6 pathway, thus ameliorating ER and oxidative stress".
Taken altogether, Herbal Angelica may be considered a remedy that protects the cell against oxidative stress, pending to larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Cranberry Decreases Homocysteine and Increases Adiponectin Levels in Patients with Metabolic Syndrome
Homocysteine produced in the bloodstream is a common amino acid in the blood from eating meat.
High levels of homocysteine in the blood have increased the risk of heart disease and stroke.
In other words, homocysteine induced atherosclerosis by causing arterial damage, leading to the accumulation and formation of the plaque and blood clot.
Believe it or not, overexpression of homocysteine accompanied by the low levels of vitamins B6, B12, and folate, also have been found in some patients with renal disease.
Dr. Bradley A. Maron, the lead scientist in the examination of the disease associated with hyperhomocysteinemia wrote, "The unique biochemical profile of homocysteine is characterized by chemical reactivity supporting a wide range of molecular effects, and a tendency to promote oxidant stress-induced cellular toxicity".
And, "Numerous epidemiological reports have established hyperhomocysteinemia as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, dementia-type disorders, and osteoporosis-associated fractures".
Adiponectin is a type of protein associated with the function that regulates glucose levels and fatty acid breakdown.
The protein also plays a critical role in the development of insulin resistance and atherosclerosis. Low levels of adiponectin levels increase the risk of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
In type 2 diabetes, and administration of adiponectin not lowers plasma glucose levels but also increases insulin sensitivity.
More precisely, in patients with type 2 diabetes, increased levels of adiponectin involved in the enhancement of insulin sensitivity were attributed to the increase of fatty acid oxidation and inhibition of hepatic glucose production.
Dr. Lihn AS in the examing the effects of administration of adiponectin in type 2 diabetes wrote, "adiponectin in addition to possible anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic effects appears to be an insulin enhancer, with potential as a new pharmacologic treatment modality of the metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes".
Cranberry is an evergreen dwarf shrub, genus Vaccinium, belongings to the family Ericaceae, native to Northern America and Southern Asia. Because of its health benefits, cranberry has been cultivated in some parts of the world for commercial profit and used in traditional and herbal medicine to treat wounds, urinary disorders, diarrhea, diabetes, stomach ailments, and liver problems.
On finding a potential compound for the inhibition of cardiovascular risk factors, researchers examined the effects of cranberry juice concomitantly on homocysteine and adiponectin levels in patients with the MetS.
The study included a total of 36 individuals with the MetS divided into two groups: the control group (n 36) and cranberry-treated group(n 20) received cranberry juice (0·7 liters/d) containing 0·4mg folic acid for 60 days.
According to tested analysis, the cranberry-treated group showed an increase in adiponectin involved in regulating glucose levels as well as fatty acid breakdown and a decrease in homocysteine associated with a risk for heart disease comapred to baseline values and the controls.
However, the cranberry-treated group improved MetS without affecting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-a, IL-1, and IL-6.
According to the measurement of oxidative stress, the cranberry-treated group also showed decreased lipoperoxidation and protein oxidation levels, compared to the control group.
The results strongly suggested that chronic consumption of cranberry juice for 60 d improves some cardiovascular risk factors.
Based on the findings, researchers concluded. "The present data reinforce the importance of the inverse association between homocysteine and adiponectin and the need for more specifically designed studies on MetS patients.".
Taken altogether, cranberry may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of MetS, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Angelica sinensis, A Potential Neuroprotective Herbal Remedy
A neuroprotective effect is an event that protects the central nervous system (CNS) by relatively preserving the neuronal structure and/or function.
Neurological diseases are the medical conditions of CNS disorder. Anything that involves the structural, biochemical or electrical abnormalities in the brain, spinal cord or other nerves, including brain damage are considered as neuro diseases.
The most common neurodegenerative diseases in the elderly are dementia. Depending on the brain regions that are damaged or dysfunctional, dementia can be Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and Huntington's disease.
There are many risk factors involved in the incidence of neurological disorders, including unhealthy lifestyle, infections, genetics preposition, and physical injury.
Genetic mutation inherited from parents such as the NOTCH3 gene is the most common autosomal dominant inherited that causes stroke and vascular dementia.
Oxidative stress is a result of an imbalance of the ratio of levels of free radicals and antioxidants caused either by overexpression of free radicals or depletion of antioxidant enzymes or both.
Free radicals can be produced internally by normal cellular metabolism or from external sources such as the air we breathe, smoking. Free radicals are unstable molecules with unpaired electrons on the outer ring.
In order for them to maintain stable, free radicals must either donate an electron or intercept an electron from other atoms, leading to a chain reaction that can not be stopped until the outer ring electron is paired or inhibited by antioxidants.
Oxidative stress has been found to be a major risk for the onset of neurological disorders in the Western world, particularly in North American.
On finding a natural compound for the treatment of neurological diseases, the researchers examined the effects of Ligustilide (LIG) is a principal active ingredient of Radix Angelica Sinensis on neuroprotective activity/
The aging model mice induced by subcutaneous (S.C.) injection of d-gal once daily for 8 weeks following by LIG (80 mg/kg) were simultaneously administered orally.
Based on the experimental results,* LIG administration markedly improved the behavioral performance of d-gal treated mice.
* LIG reduced the level of neuron stress markers MDA and increased the activity of Na(+)-K(+)-ATPase in the promotion of neurophysiology in the brain of d-gal induced aging mice.
* Moreover, LIG significantly raised the expression of GAP-43 associated with the development and axonal regeneration and reduced cleaved caspase-3 to promote cell death and GFAP levels in brain injury in the brain of d-gal treated mice.
Collectively, researchers said, "These results demonstrated that LIG improves d-gal-induced cognitive dysfunction and brain toxicity, which suggests that LIG may be developed as a new medicine for the treatment of age-related conditions".
Taken altogether, Herbal Angelica may be considered a neuroprotective remedy, pending a larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Cranberry Does Not Improve Urinary Infection in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis
Urinary incontinence, a medical, psychological, social, economic, and hygienic problem, is a condition of loss of the bladder to control that can lead to a mild or severe form of involuntary leakage of urine.
Involuntary urine leakage or urinary incontinence is frequent among elderly women, adult women, even among adolescent women.
According to the statistics provided by Phoenix Physical Therapy, approximately 25 million adult Americans are living with some form of urinary incontinence of which 75-80% are women.
Believe it or not, about 17% of women and 16% of men over 18 years old have overactive bladder(OAB) and an estimated 12.2 million adults have urge incontinence.
All types of urinary incontinence have been found to have a negative impact on the quality of life and daily activity.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system) caused by the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibers.
MS causes communication problems between the brain and the rest of the body.
SHARON BEGLEY in examing the genetic preposition involved in MS wrote, " A newly discovered genetic mutation gives people who carry it a whopping 70 percent chance of developing multiple sclerosis, potentially opening the way toward new therapies for a debilitating neurological disorder whose ultimate cause has stumped researchers for decades".
The author continued, "The 70 percent chance of developing MS compares to a 0.1 percent risk in the general population, and the 100 or so previously known genetic variants increase the chance of MS to only about 0.3 percent at most, with no single gene packing much of a punch".
In other words, people having certain genes inherited from the parent are at a substantial risk of MS developing comapred to people who do not.
According to the statistics, in 2010/2011, approximately 93,500 Canadians were diagnosed with the disease or 290 cases per 100,000 population. Believe it or not, MS is the most prevalent in Canada comapred to other parts of the world.
On finding a potential compound for the improvement of the quality of life in cancer patients, researchers examined the cranberry extract on multiple sclerosis (MS) patients suffering from urinary disorders.
The cranberry versus placebo, prospective, double-blind study included a total of 171 adult MS outpatients with urinary disorders presenting at eight centers were randomized to cranberry extract (36 mg proanthocyanidins per day) or matching placebo received twice daily for 1 year.
According to the results at follow-up, there was no difference between cranberry and placebo.
Furthermore, there was no difference in time to first symptomatic UTI distribution across 1 year, with an estimated hazard ratio of 0.99, 95% CI [0.61, 1.60] (p = 0.97).
Moreover, secondary endpoints and tolerance did not differ between groups.
Based on the findings, researchers said, "Taking cranberry extract versus placebo twice a day did not prevent UTI occurrence in MS patients with urinary disorders".
Taken altogether, cranberry does not improve the urinary disorders in patients with MS, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Herbal Turmeric, he Natural Prevention and Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes
Type II diabetes is an acquired chronic and medical condition caused by insufficiency of insulin entering the bloodstream, leading to abnormally high blood glucose.
In other words, type II diabetes developing is due to the pancreas not producing enough insulin caused by the loss of beta cells or the body does not properly use the insulin it makes as a result of insulin receptor sites clogged up by fat or cholesterol.
Although type II diabetes is a disease associated with adult-onset, today, the condition has been diagnosed in children at an alarming rate due to childhood obesity.
The most common symptoms of type II diabetes are increased thirst, frequent urination, unintended weight loss, fatigue.
In severe cases, patients with type II diabetes also experience symptoms of slow-healing sores, frequent infections, blurred vision.
Untreated type II diabetes may induce complications of diabetic retinopathy, kidney disease (nephropathy), diabetic neuropathy, and macrovascular problems.
As of today, there is no single cause and cure for type 2 diabetes. However, researchers suggested overweight, family history, aging, race, and medical conditions of prediabetes and gestational diabetes are some prevalent factors associated with the increased risk of the disease.c
Some researchers suggested that type 2 diabetes may be correlated to the promotion of the Western diet over the past few decades.
Dr. David Hefner in the article "Western Diet Linked to Type 2 Diabetes", wrote, "The typical Western diet-red meat, high-fat dairy products, refined grains, and desserts-may increase your chances for Type 2 diabetes".
And, "The news isn't particularly shocking but offers a new view on the health risks of a typical Western diet as a whole, rather than simply attacking elements within the diet such as fatty foods".
In other words, if you are following a high-fat diet, you are at a higher risk of type II diabetes. is
Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.
The herb has been used in traditional medicine as an anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.
In the urgency to find a potential ingredient for the treatment of diabetes, researchers examined the effect of Curcumin (CUR; diferuloylmethane) in the increased oxidative stress and the proinflammatory state that contributes to the development and progression of the diseases.
Oxidative stress is an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and their clearance by antioxidant defense mechanisms.
Curcumin improved the function of hepatic glucose and lipid metabolism which was dysfunctioned in patients with T2DM.
In vitro, curcumin was found to induce the liver protective effect in the regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism.
Furthermore, curcumin exerted antidiabetic potential by ameliorating skeletal muscle insulin resistance in rodents with diet-induced insulin resistance via an increase of the uptake and oxidation of fatty acids.
Moreover, curcumin also found to improve insulin sensitivity in muscle tissue of insulin-resistant rodents by an increase of the cellular glucose uptake by enhancing the GLUT4 translocation.
In adipose tissue analysis, curcumin protected the adipose tissue function, by protecting the normal adipokine production, FFA release, and preventing inflammation, that is associated with the pathogenesis of T2DM.
In pancreatic β-cells differentiation, curcumin enhanced the pancreatic β-cell function under diabetic conditions.
On metabolic dysfunction, curcumin improved the glycemic status and insulin sensitivity demonstrated in high-fat-diet- (HFD-) fed C57BL/6J mice and C57BL/6J ob/ob mice.
More recently, curcumin exerted a positive effect of CUR on metabolic abnormalities associated with T2DM have been confirmed in high-fructose-fed Wistar rats by attenuating insulin resistance and glucose intolerance through its antioxidative and anti-inflammatory actions
Taken altogether, turmeric processed a high amount of bioactive compound curcumin may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of type II diabetes, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of turmeric in the form of supplements should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Herbal Coltsfoot(Tussilago farfara) Improves the Bone Marrow Cells Against the Risk of Leukemia
Leukemia is a condition characterized by an abnormal increase of white blood cells produced by the bone marrow and/or the lymphatic system. Depending on the malignant granulocytes or lymphocytes, leukemia is classified into myelogenous or lymphoblastic leukemia.
Bone marrow is the soft tissue inside the hollow center of the major bone. including spine, pelvis, underarm, leg. etc.
Acute leukemia is a condition caused by a rapid increase in the numbers of extreme immature white blood cells which appear in the bloodstream in the other parts of the body, including tissue and organs, Acute leukemia can also be classified into
* Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)
Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is a type of cancer of the abnormal growth of extremely immature lymphocytes overproduced by the bone marrow and/or lymphatic system. The condition has a tendency to multiply quickly, leading to the death of normal white blood cells in the bone marrow and/or lymphatic system.
In ALL, lymphocytes appear immature in the bloodstream. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common children forms of leukemia with about 80% of all cases.
* Acute myeloid leukemia (AML)
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) is a cancer of myelogenous lining caused by the rapid growth of abnormal granulocytes accumulated in the bone marrow, interfering with the normal blood cells. In AML, granulocytes appear immature in the bloodstream.
According to the statistic proved by the American Cancer Society, in 2019, approximately 21,450 new cases of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) will be diagnosed in adults. The disease also causes the
of 10,920 deaths of American adults.
Coltsfoot(Tussilago farfara) is a perennial herbaceous plant, genus Tussilago, belonging to the family Asteraceae, native to Europe and Asia. The herb has been used over thousands of years to treat asthma, various coughs, bronchial congestion, respiratory disorders, headaches and obstruction in the nasal passage, etc.

Cranberry Inhibits The Expression of Advanced Glycation (AD) Expression
Advanced glycation end is a by produces formed by protein or fat combine with sugar caused by cooking meat at high temperature.
The products have been found to affect metabolic health.
The most common causes of AGEs are from the diet, particularly in people who follow the Western diet with high saturated and trans fat, a lot of red meats, and processed foods.
Low levels of AGEs may not be a problem, however, overexpression of AGEs can induce oxidative stress, leading to inflammation and damage proteins, lipid, and sometimes alternation of cells DNA.
In other words, AGEs initiates the production and free radicals and free radical a chain reaction that can not be stopped until all electrons in the outer ring paired or inhibited by antioxidants.
Accelerated formation and accumulation of advanced glycation end-products have been found to increased hyperglycemia or oxidative stress, leading to age-related and chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, chronic renal failure, neurodegenerative diseases, osteoarthritis, and also non-diabetic atherosclerosis, and chronic heart failure.
Some researchers suggested that modern life byproducts of AGEs are the results of the promotion of the processed food diet.
Dr. Chetan Sharma, Amarjeet Kaur, the lead scientist in the assessment of AGEs, wrote, "As modern diets are largely heat-processed, they are more prone to contain high levels of advanced glycation end products (AGEs)".
And, "The chemistry of the AGEs formation, absorption and bioavailability and their patho-biochemistry particularly in relation to different complications like diabetes and aging,... The emerging evidence about the adverse effects of AGEs makes it necessary to investigate the different therapies to inhibit AGEs".
The results strongly suggested the link of the modern diet with highly processed food is a leading cause of chronic diseases.
On finding a potential compound for the treatment of oxidative stress, researchers examined anti-glycation effects of several polyphenol-rich fruits, including blackberry, black raspberry, blueberry, cranberry, red raspberry, and strawberry extracts, which are rich in anthocyanins.
Berry crude extracts (CE) yielded anthocyanins-enriched (ACE) extracts used in the study, showed a significant effect against oxidative stress by exhibiting the free radical scavenging, reactive carbonyl species trapping, and anti-glycation effects compared to their respective ACFs.
Furthermore, the berry ACEs (at 100 μg/mL) inhibited both thermal- and MGO-induced Aβ fibrillation induced by the overexpression of glycation.
Moreover, the berry ACEs (at 20 μg/mL) also reduced H₂O₂-induced reactive oxygen species production and lipopolysaccharide-induced nitric oxide species in BV-2 microglia by decreasing H₂O₂-induced neuron cytotoxicity and caspase-3/7 activity in BV-2 microglia involved in inflammation.
Based on the findings, researchers said, "The free radical scavenging, reactive carbonyl trapping, anti-glycation, anti-Aβ fibrillation, and microglial neuroprotective effects of these berry extracts warrant further in vivo studies to evaluate their potential neuroprotective effects against AD".
Taken altogether, cranberry may be considered a remedy for the treatment of AD, pending the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
