Imaging of long term intake of delicious smoothies loved by many with the power of reduced risk and treatment of chronic illness with no one mentions about. Epidemiological studies with strong evidences suggested that blueberry oral administration hold a potential with therapeutic values for reduced risk of women who carry the mutation gene and treatment of breast cancer(*).
The curable smoothies are collection of recipes produced from natural sources, including organic fruits and vegetables, and some herbs which have been proven effectively for reduced risk and treatment for diseases and syndromes by scientific research of clinical trials and/or studies.

The finding of foods from natural sources has been a dream of scientists and scholars since ancient time. Socrates Said," Let foods be your medicine and let medicine be your foods". Let all of us exercise the values of the past wisdom to build a letter living and living health while enjoining these delicious drinks.

Scientists at some best known institution may have found the combination of natural sources with promising potential in food such as grape(1) for reduced risk and treatment of skin aging, new studies suggested

The smoothie for reduced risk and treatment Skin Aging

Yield: 2 serving (about 8 ounce each)
1/2 cup wolfberry
1 cup tomato
1 cup green tea drink (Make from 4 grams(2 tea bags) of green tea, a slice of ginger and a cup of hot water lipped for 5 minutes, and set aside for cooling to room temperature)

1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree about 1 minute
2. Blend on high speed about 1 minute or until the mixture is thick and the ice is well crushed. Add more green tea drink if needed
3. Serve immediately.

Skin aging is one of most visible process which occurs constantly in our skin organ. According to the Clinical Centre of Nis, certain plant extracts may have the ability to scavenge free radicals, to protect the skin matrix through the inhibition of enzymatic degradation, or to promote collagen synthesis in the skin, affected skin elasticity and tightness(1).
Wolfberry, the common name for the fruit of two very closely related species, the genus of Lycium, belong to family Solanaceae, native to native to southeastern Europe and Asia shown to process anti aging effect because of its improved skin SOD activity, reduced skin MDA content, and increased Hyp content activities(2).
On nonenzyme glycation in D-galactose induced mouse aging model, achyranthes bidentata polysaccharide (ABP) and lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) found in wolfberry improved skin aging through superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity(3).
Furthermore, the extreme day cream (EXD) and extreme night treatment (EXN), includong wolfberry, attenuated biological effects of skin photo-damage through reduction of cell apoptosis in the epidermis of skin organ cultures and pro-inflammatory cytokine(4).

Green tea has been a precious drink in traditional Chinese culture and used exceptional in socialization for more than 4000 thousand years. Because of their health benefits, they have been cultivated for commercial purposes all over the world.
Oxidative damage by reactive oxygen species (ROS) plays a major role inskin aging. Green tea extracted showed to inhibit the toxic ROS-induced skindeath, through protection from H(2)O(2)-induced necrosis in a dose-dependent manner(10), improvement of the anti-wrinkle effects, through its antioxidant activity(5), skin roughness, through moisturizing effects and enhancement of skin microrelief(6) and inhibition of skin inflammation for managing allergic contact dermatitis without skin toxicity(7). Combination of topical application of green tea and lotus, exhibited an anti aging effect on skin roughness (SEr), scaliness (SEsc), smoothness (SEsm), and wrinkling (SEw)(8) and composition of a formulation containing 20 % green tea extract and 5 % rose oil, exhibited a skin barrier function for maintaining skin hydration, and protecting against anti-aging process(9).

Tomato is a red, edible fruit, genus Solanum, belongings to family Solanaceae, native to South America. Because of its health benefits, tomato is grown world wide for commercial purpose
and often in green house.
In visible signs of skin aging men, oral administration of tomato extract improved overall appearance, correlated with the subjects' satisfaction by an increase of collagen and elastic fibers(11).In post-menopausal women, intake of supplement containing soy extract, fish protein polysaccharides, extracts from white tea, grape seed and tomato, vitamins C and E as well as zinc and chamomile effectively induced protective effect against forehead, periocular and perioral wrinkles, mottled pigmentation, laxity, sagging, under eye dark circles aging and overall appearance(12).

Taking altogether,  we should all drink the smoothie as much as we we can to prevent the early onset of aging. Diet and lifestyle change are also recommended.

Respiratory Disease is defined as medical conditions which affect the breathing organ and tissues including Inflammatory lung disease, Obstructive lung diseases, Restrictive lung diseases, Respiratory tract infections, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli, the nerves and muscles breathing , etc,.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD))is the third leading cause of death in the United State.
Types of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

1. Emphysema, a type of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), is defined as a long term and progressive condition cause of shortness of breath but depending to the stage of lung function as a result of damage to tissues of the air sacs (alveoli) in the lungs. In the study of 63 patients with stable COPD (spirometric GOLD stages 2–4) and 17 age- and comorbidity-matched controls, researchers found that in contrast to asthma, COPD is characterised by elevated concentrations of both BDNF and TGF-beta1 in serum. The stage-dependent association with lung function supports the hypothesis that these platelet mediators may play a role in the pathogenesis of COPD(1). In some cases, but rarely, Emphysema is caused by Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency emphysema.

2. Chronic bronchitis
Chronic bronchitis is a chronic inflammation of the lung’s bronchi cause of the increased production of mucus in the lung of that leading to difficult breathing.

                                   The Symptoms

1. Shortness of Breath
Shortness of Breath is a The main symptoms of the disease. There is a report of There is a report of 27-year-old man who had been a smoker since 14 years of age presented with exertional dyspnea. Spirometry and high-resolution computed tomography scans suggested a diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). High susceptibility, smoking from an early age and organic solvent exposure may have caused early-onset COPD in this case(2). Dyspnea is a cardinal symptom of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and its severity and magnitude increases as the disease progresses, leading to significant disability and a negative effect on quality of life(2a).
2. Functional impairment the upper and lower limb exercises
In comparison with lower limb exercises, upper limb exercises result in higher metabolic and ventilatory demands, as well as in a more intense sensation of dyspnea and greater fatigue. Because there are differences between the upper and lower limb muscles in terms of the morphological and functional adaptations in COPD patients, specific protocols for strength training and endurance should be developed and tested for the corresponding muscle groups(3).
3. Chronic Cough (With or Without Sputum)
Cough reflex hypersensitivity is thought to underlie the chronic dry cough out of proportion to other symptoms that can occur in association with airways disease. Structural changes associated with airway disease (damage) include bronchial wall thickening, airway smooth muscle hypertrophy, bronchiectasis and emphysema(4).
4. Reduced Exercise Tolerance
Dyspnea and reduced exercise tolerance are common consequences of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and contribute importantly to poor perceived health status(5).
5. Sleep disturbance
An expert panel meeting was convened in Barcelona, Spain, in March 2011 to discuss the aetiology, evolution, burden, long-term clinical consequences and optimal management of night-time symptoms in COPD, showed that epidemiological data suggests that the prevalence of nocturnal symptoms and symptomatic sleep disturbance may exceed 75% in patients with COPD(6).
6. Loss of Appetite Leading to Weight Loss
Body weight loss, often observed in patients with COPD, is related to lack of appetite. Inflammatory cytokines are known to be involved in anorexia and to be correlated to arterial partial pressure of oxygen(7).
7. Hemoptysis and long-term fever
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with symptoms of episodes of dyspnea, hemoptysis and long-term fever(8).
8. Wheezing
Patients with COPD are most likely to wheeze during an acute exacerbation, especially at the night time as a result of air pass through a narrow airway.
9. Other symptoms
In the study to to investigate the accuracy of clinical variables in the diagnosis of COPD of 98 patients (mean age, 62.3+/- 12.3 years; mean FEV1, 48.3 +/- 21.6%) and 102 controls, found that the likelihood ratios (95% CIs) for the diagnosis of COPD were as follows: 4.75 (2.29-9.82; p < 0.0001) for accessory muscle recruitment; 5.05 (2.72-9.39; p < 0.0001) for pursed-lip breathing; 2.58 (1.45-4.57; p < 0.001) for barrel chest; 3.65 (2.01-6.62; p < 0.0001) for decreased chest expansion; 7.17 (3.75-13.73; p < 0.0001) forreduced breath sounds; 2.17 (1.01-4.67; p < 0.05) for a thoracic index > or = 0.9; 2.36 (1.22-4.58; p < 0.05) for laryngeal height < or = 5.5 cm; 3.44 (1.92-6.16; p < 0.0001) for forced expiratory time > or = 4 s; and 4.78 (2.13-10.70; p < 0.0001) for lower liver edge > or = 4 cm from lower costal edge. Inter-rater reliability for those same variables was, respectively, 0.57, 0.45, 0.62, 0.32, 0.53, 0.32, 0.59, 0.52 and 0.44 (p < 0.0001 for all)(9).

The smoothie for prevention and treatment of Lactose intolerance
Yield: 2 serving (about 8 ounce each)
3/4 cup fermented milk drink
1/2 cup yogurt
1 cup rice milk

1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree about 1 minute
2. Blend on high speed about 1 minute or until the mixture is thick and the ice is well crushed.
3. Serve immediately

The finding of a natural source for treatment of Lactose intolerance  has been running into many obstacles, many ingredients showed initially with promising result in animal studies have not produced same potentials in large sample size and mutli centers human trials.

Lactose intolerance is a condition of the inability of the digestive system to digest lactose, a type of sugar found in milk and other dairy products. Chronic consumption of a probiotic may improve symptoms and decrease hydrogen production intake in lactose-intolerant patients, according to the State University of Campinas, Campinas(1).
Yogurt is a healthy foods produced by bacterial fermentation of milk. One of most common natural probiotic foods used to enhance function of digestive system may also be beneficiary for treatment of patients with Lactose intolerance. In the study of lactose intolerance in persistent diarrhoea during childhood, researchers at the The Aga Khan University suggested, a traditional rice-lentil (Khitchri) in combination of yogurt attenuated the 80% symptom of diarrhea in children with lactose intolerance(2).
Dr. Nizami SQ and professors at the Aga Khan University also said, " (the) cheap weaning diet made of locally available cereals and yogurt can be used effectively in management of secondary lactose intoleranceassociated with acute childhood diarrhoea"(3).
Furthermore, in a randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind, 5-arm crossover study on 24 lactose malabsorbers with variable degrees of lactase deficiency, conducted by joint study lead by the Federal Research Centre for Nutrition and Food, confirmed "the combined administration of freeze-dried yogurt cultures and acid lactase increases lactose digestion more than either freeze-dried yogurt cultures or acid lactase alone, and more lactose malabsorbers may be benefits from this effect"(4).

Fermented milk  and fermented milk products, cultured dairy produced has been recommended to patient with lactose intolerance(5) as they are carriers of probiotics with function in improvement of digestive activity(6).
DR. Zhao XF and colleagues at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention said, "low lactose milks(fermented milk) and yogurt could reduce the LI incidence among LI children significantly"(7).

The finding of the effectiveness of fermented milk and yogurt may serve as cornerstones of pharmaceutical target for further studies as well as a potential medication for treatment of Lactose intolerance.

People with Lactose intolerance should drink the juices as much as they can depending to digestive toleration.

The smoothie for women with Endometriosis
Yield: 2 serving (about 8 ounce each)
1 1/2 cups tomatoes
1 tsp of curcumin
1 cup of rice milk

1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree about 1 minute
2. Blend on high speed about 1 minute or until the mixture is thick and the ice is well crushed. Add more green tea drink if needed
3. Serve immediately

The finding the natural ingredient for prevention and treatment of endometriosis  to replace the adverse effects of conventional medicine has been facing many obstacles. Many initially potentially therapeutic values working in animal studies does not produce the same effectiveness in human trials.

Scientists in some well known institution may have found the combination of ingredients of  tomato(1) and curcumin(5) and with therapeutic values for reduced painful symptoms and treatment of endometriosis, recent studies suggested.

During the last stage of the menstrual cycle, normally a layer of endometriosis lining on the inside of the uterus is expelled, known as menstruation blood. If, some of the endometrial tissues travelled somewhere in the body, it may induce endometriosis. Endometriosis.also react to hormone signals of the monthly menstrual cycle, such as building up tissue, breaking it and eliminating it through menstrual period.
Tomato is a red, edible fruit, genus Solanum, belongs to family Solanaceae, native to South America. Because of its health benefits, tomato is grown world wide for commercial purpose and often in green house. Retinoic acid, a metabolite of vitamin A  was found effectively for treatment of endometriosis through its function of promotion survival or apoptosis of cells, according to the University of California(1).
Dr. Pavone ME and colleagues in the study of altered retinoid uptake and action in patient with endometriosis, treatment of endometriosis may be depended to genes in metabolism of retinol (RA)(2). On animal model, RA exhibited anti endometrial effects by decreasing the volume of endometriotic implants were significantly decreased during menstruation(3).
Furthermore, in the study of all-trans-retinoic acid (RA) against endometriosis, researchers showed that RA inhibited the development of endometriotic implants by reduced the proinflmmatory cytokines IL-6 and the beta chemokine family MCP-1 production(4).

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belongings to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia, used in trditional medicine as anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc. Its phytochemical curcumin has showed to exhibit anti endometriosis effect, through reducing estradiol production(5).
According to the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, through inhibiting MMP-2 activity, involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix (ECM) in normal physiological processes, curcumin delayed endometriosis development and endometrial progression(6).
The spice also showed to inhibited (MMP)-9 of which may relate to the either post- or pre-endometriosis arrested endometriosis in a dose-dependent manner(7), Dr Swarnakar S and Dr. Paul S. said.

Taking altogether, women who are at increased risk of endometriosis due to menstrual irregularity, family history .....should drink at least one serving daily and  women with endometriosis should drink the smoothie as much as they can, depending to digestive toleration.
Change of life style and diet pattern are also recommended.

Respiratory Disease is defined as medical conditions which affect the breathing organ and tissues including Inflammatory lung disease, Obstructive lung diseases, Restrictive lung diseases, Respiratory tract infections, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli, the nerves and muscles breathing , etc,.

                                  Bronchiectasis

Bronchiectasis is defined as a condition chracterized by the damage of the localized, irreversible dilation of part of the bronchial tree and the walls of the large airways of the lung as a result of the destruction of the lung muscles and elastic tissues. Bronchiectasis can be present alone, but in most cases, it is a disease coexisted with patient of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

                                  The Treatment

In traditional Chinese medicine perspective
Traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis, according to the study of the general law of typing of bronchiectasis according to syndrome differentiation in 563 patients with bronchiectasis, suggested that accumulation of phlegm-heat in the lungs (45.65%), liver fire attacking the lungs (24.51%), asthenia of pulmonosplenic qi (22.38%), asthenia of both qi and yin (7.46%) were the main types(56).
1. Zhi Kuo Fang
In the study to explore the effects of Zhikuofang, a TCM prescription, and Ofloxacin on the inflammation and cytostatics of the airway model of bronchiectasis, showed that Zhikuofang is better than Ofloxacin in following aspects: lowering the density of inflammation cells in blood, decreasing the volume of tracheal secretion and inhibiting the cytostatics (IL-8 and TNF-alpha) of the trachea tissue, but Ofloxacin is more effective in diminishing the amount of bacteria in trachea flushing liquor. There was no marked difference between them in their histopathy effects on the trachea(57).
2. Heat Hua Tan Zhi Ke method
In the study of about 20 cases of Chinese medicine treatment of bronchiectasis, posted in Research paper centre, of a total of 40 bronchiectasis patients were randomly divided into two groups, 20 patients in each treatment group orally self Bronchiectasis square and subtraction with the disease control group were treated with western medicine, and 15 days for a course of treatment, two courses after the assessment of treatment outcome results of the treatment group was 76.7%, with a total effective rate of 96.7%, the control group was 60%, the total effective rate was 86.7%, the two groups significant efficiency and total efficiency comparison, the differences were statistically significant ( P <0.01)(58).

The finding the natural ingredients for prevention and treatment of dysmenorrhea with little or no adverse effects to replace the conventional medicine have been facing many obstacles. Many initially potentially therapeutic values working in animal studies does not produce the same effectiveness in human trials.

Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) is defined as a condition of severe uterine pain during menstruation. Some women may experience periodic pains during or prior to, or after menstrual periods in the lower abdomen as resulting of over production of certain hormones in the prostaglandins family.

Recent studies of the combination of fennel(1), ginger(4)may have a potential and therapeutic values for reduced painful symptoms and treatment of dysmenorrhea.
Fennel is a species of Foeniculum Vulgare, belong to the family Apiaceae (Umbelliferae), and native to to the shores of the Mediterranean. It is now widely cultivated all around the globe to use as food and herb.
According to the Babol University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, in a total of 60 virgin girls with complaints ofdysmenorrhoea, 30 mg fennel extract, four times a day for three days from start of their menstrual period significantly reduced menstrual pain(1).

Dr. Modaress Nejad V and Dr.Asadipour M. in comparison of the effectiveness of fennel and mefenamic acid on pain intensity in dysmenorrhoea, said," In the fennel group, 80% of girls and in the mefenamic acid group, 73% of girls showed complete pain relief or pain decrease", in a study of groups of high-school girls, suffering dysmenorrhoea randomized to receive fennel extract (n = 55) or mefenamic acid (n = 55) for 2 months(2).
Furthermore, the University of Tehran Medical Sciences in the stutdy of uterine contraction as a model for dysmenorrhea, fennel essential oil (FEO), reduced the frequency of contractions induced by (prostaglandin hormone) PGE-2 with little or no adverse effects(3).

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) or ginger root is the genus Zingiber, belongings to the family Zingiberaceae, native to Tamil,  used in traditional and Chinese medicine to treat dyspepsia, gastroparesis, constipation, edema, difficult urination, colic, etc.
According to Dr. Backon J. at the Mount Pleasant Hospital Addiction Studies Foundation, ginger, may be effective for treatment of pain and cramping of dysmenorrhea as a thromboxane synthetase(antiplatelet drugs) inhibitor in activation of the endorphin receptors(6).
Dr. Halder A in the study of the muscle relaxation versus intake of ginger powder on dysmenorrhoea, said," in treating symptoms of dysmenorrhoea, gingerpowder has efficacy superior to progressive muscle relaxation."(5).

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids found abundantly in almond may be adding to the curable ingredients for reduced painful symptoms and treatment of Primary Dysmenorrhea(7). According to the Semnan University of Medical Sciences, oral administration of supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids not only reduced the symptom intensity but also reduced doses of ibuprofen for women with dysmenorrhea(7).
In a double-blind, randomized clinical trial study of management of premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea, application of Omega 3 fatty acids significantly reduce dysmenorrhea and the emotional symptoms of premenstrual syndrome(8).
In support of the above efficacy, the Children's Hospital Medical Center study showed a positive result of dietary supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids in inhibition of dysmenorrheain adolescents(9).

Taking altogether, women who are at increased risk of dysmenorrhea due to menstrual irregularity .....should drink at least one serving daily and women with dysmenorrhea should drink the smoothie as much as they can, depending to digestive toleration.
Change life style and diet pattern are also recommended.

                                  The Treatment

In herbal medicine perspective
The aim of herbal medicine is to prevent lung infections and relieve its symptoms. Herbs support the lungs, strengthen the immune system and repair tissues, include

1. Herbs support the lungs
In the study of the effect of astragalus membranceus(fisch) bge, codonpsis pilosula and glycyrrhiza uralensis fisch on airway responsiveness, found that after 28 asthmatic patients received the treatment of those herbs, the results showed that FVC value increased obviously (t = 2.217, P < 0.05) and the value of FEV1 and PEF was all higher compared with before treatment of the herbs (P < 0.01)(53).

2. Herbs enhance immunity
In the study of the effect of Chinese herbs (Astragalus radix and Ganoderma lucidum) on immune response of carp in fish fed diets containing Astragalus (0.5%), Ganoderma (0.5%) and combination of two herbs (Astragalus 0.5% and Ganoderma 0.5%) for 5 weeks, showed that feeding non-vaccinated and vaccinated carp with combination of Astragalus and Ganoderma stimulated respiratory burst activity, phagocytosis of phagocytic cells in blood and lysozyme and circulatory antibody titres in plasma in vaccinated carp. Fish challenged with A. hydrophila had variable survival. The best survival (60%) was in vaccinated group fed with both herbs, while almost 90% of control fish (negative control) and 60% of fish vaccinated only (positive control) died(54).

3. Herbs repair tissues
According to the study by Ohio State University’s Heart and Lung Research Institute, Grape-seed extractseemed to aid wound healing in two ways: It helped the body make more of a compound used to regenerate damaged blood vessels, and it also increased the amount of free radicals in the wound site. Free radicals help clear potentially pathogenic bacteria from a wound(55).
