                    Overcome Infertility

Infertility is defined as inability of a couple to conceive after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse. It effects over 5 millions couple alone in the U. S. and many times more in the world. Because of unawareness of treatments, only 10% seeks help from professional specialist.

                      Ovarian Causes of Infertility

The ovary is female reproductive organ where the eggs mature and extruded to the Fallopian tubes, it is part of the vertebrate female reproductive system.

1. Ovarian resistance
The term used to define the inability of ovaries to response to FSH stimulation, thereby no developing follicle. The exact cause is still unknown, some researchers believe it is caused deficiency of FSH and LH receptors in the ovary, the presence of antibodies to gonadotropin receptors, or a post receptor defect.

2. Ovarian failure
Ovarian failure is a condition defined as loss of ovarian function for female under age of 40 ( early menopause) caused by low levels of estrogen and high levels of FSH hormone.

3. Ovarian dygenesis
It is caused by the second X chromosome defective at birth leading to sterility.

4. Chocolate cyst
Chocolate cyst also known as endometrioma, caused by endometrial adhesion and implants attached to the ovaries leading to abnormal function of ovaries and interfering with production of mature eggs.

5. Ovarian pregnancy
An pregnancy occurs within the ovary. It is caused by matured age being fertilized inside of the ovaries leading to miscarriage.

6. Poor egg quality
The cause of poor egg quality still unknown but researches believe it may be caused by genetic passing through from generation to generation, poor lifestyle, drugs or medication side effects leading to abnormal eggs producing processes of ovaries resulting in increasing the risk of miscarriage and birth defect.

Li Zhi He is also known as litchi seed. The sweet, astringent, slightly bitter and warm herb has been sued in TCM as Antioxidant, anti viral and anti mutagenic agent and to lower blood sugar, blood cholesterol, etc., as it regulates the Qi, stops pain, disperses cold and stagnation, etc., by enhancing the functions of liver and stomach channels.

Ingredients
1. Saponins
2. Tannins
3. 3-acetoin
4. 2, 3-butanediol
4. Copaene
5. Cis-caryophyllene
6. Allo-aromadendrene
7. Humulene
8. δ-cadinene
9. Calamenene
10. Etc.

Health Benefits
1. Antioxidant activity
In the study of four different polysaccharide-enriched fractions were isolated from litchi pulp tissue and partially purified by a stepwise method of ethyl alcohol (EtOH) precipitation, showed that These four polysaccharide-enriched fractions exhibited a dose-dependent free radical scavenging activity as shown by their DPPH radical, superoxide anion and hydroxyl radical inhibition, chelating ability and reducing power. Among the different fractions, LFP-III showed the strongest scavenging activity against DPPH radical, superoxide and hydroxyl radicals and chelating ability(1).

2. Immunomodulatory and anticancer activities
In the examination of the litchi pericarp extract was subjected to partition by hexane, ethyl acetate and water, for the isolation and purified from the ethyl acetate fraction by reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatographyof Epicatechin, proanthocyanidin B2 and proanthocyanidin B4, found that all these samples had much higher stimulatory effects on splenocyte proliferation than that of the reference, rutin. Epicatechin and the ethyl acetate fraction showed a significantly (P<0.05) stimulatory effect when the concentration was up to 12.5 micro g/ml. Proanthocyanidin B2 and proanthocyanidin B4 exhibited little lower stimulatory effects than epicatechin and the ethyl acetate fraction. The anti-breast cancer activities of epicatechin, proanthocyanidin B2, proanthocyanidin B4 and the ethyl acetate fraction were also evaluated. Epicatechin and proanthocyanidin B2 had lower cytotoxicities to human breast cancer cell MCF-7 and human embryolic lung fibroblast than paclitaxel(2).

3. Antiplatelet, anticoagulant and fibrinolytic effects
In the investigation of investigated the effects of a 70% ethanol extract from Litchi chinensis (LCE) on platelet aggregation, coagulation and fibrinolysis, found that LCE dose-dependently inhibited collagen- and ADP-induced platelet aggregation in rat platelet-rich plasma. LCE at 4 mg/ml had a maximal inhibitory effect on platelet aggregation. In particular, the LCE 4 mg/ml-treated group showed almost complete inhibition in the collagen-induced platelet aggregation assay. It also significantly prolonged coagulation times, such as the activated partial thromboplastin and prothrombin time, in rat platelet-poor plasma. LCE also increased fibrinolytic activity in a dose-dependent manner(3).

4. Hepatoprotective effects
In the investigation of Gimjeng and Chakapat lychee (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) for theirs hepatoprotective activity on CCl(4)-induced hepatotoxicity in rats, indicated that Antioxidant properties of the Gimjeng and Chakapat lychees as evidenced by the vitamin C and phenolic compounds, anti-lipid peroxidation and anti-apoptosis could explain the hepatoprotective effects in CCl(4)-induced hepatotoxicity(4).

5. Anti proliferation and apoptosis of HepG2 cells
In the observation of the effect of Semen Litchi containing serum on proliferation and apoptosis of HepG2 cells found that Semen Litchi can inhibit the proliferation of HepG2 cells, the acting mechanism may be concerned with cell apoptosis.(5).

6. Anti diabetes
In the investigation of the pharmacological mechanism of Semen Litchi water extract (SL) on enhancing insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetic rats (T2DR) with insulin resistance (IR), showed that In T2DR-IR, SL lower concentrations of FSG, TC, TG, FFA, leptin, TNF-alpha and Fins (P < 0.05-0.01), increase ISI (P < 0.01), reform the hyperinsulinemia and insulin sensitivity, decrease the levels of BUN, Cr and the activities of ALT, AST, increase concentration of TP, A (P < 0.05-0.01), recover the hepatic and nephric functions, increase the activity of SOD and decrease content of MDA (P < 0.01)(6).

Side Effects

This smoothie screams "Summertime" with its blend of juicy, sweet peach and banana, refreshing watermelon and cooling mint.
Tips:
If your banana ripen too quickly remove the peels and store them in the freezer for the next time you want a cold creamy smoothie.
To boost the protein content of your smoothie, try adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder --- I prefer hemp or sprouted brown rice protein. Both are available in natural foods store and well-stoked supermarket. Not all are raw though, so be sure to read the labels.
When stone fruits become ripe, stone them in the refrigerator. This slowdown the ripening process, so they will keep for up to a week.
1 cup chopped seeded watermelon 250 mL
1/2 cup sliced peach 125mL
1 banana 1
2 chopped pitted date 2
2tbsp. fresh mint leaves 30mL

2. Black Walnut
Tannins extract of phenolic compounds from several herbal plants, including Black Walnut have exerted the relatively high level of activity (62.5 to 125 microg/ml) in fighting against Listeria monocytogenes, according to the study of “Antibacterial activity of tannin constituents from Phaseolus vulgaris, Fagoypyrum esculentum, Corylus avellana and Juglans nigra” by Amarowicz R, Dykes GA, Pegg RB., posted in PubMed(40). It also contains ellagic acid and others antioxidants such as Myricetin, tannins, Vitamin E-alpha, beta, delta and gamma-tocopherol of which not only can fight the forming of free radical cause of DNA damage of irregular cells growth, according to the study of ” In vitro antiproliferative, apoptotic and antioxidant activities of punicalagin, ellagic acid and a total pomegranate tannin extract are enhanced in combination with other polyphenols as found in pomegranate juice” by Navindra P. Seerama, Lynn S. Adamsa, Susanne M. Henninga, Yantao Niua, Yanjun Zhangbc, Muraleedharan G. Nairbc, David Hebera (Volume 16, Issue 6, Pages 360-367 (June 2005)), posted in The journal of Ntritional Biochemitry, but also enhance the immune system guarding our body from foreign invasion cause of inflammation and infection, according the study of “Polyphenols as antimicrobial agents” by Daglia M., posted in PubMed(41).

3. Cinnamon
3.1. Immunomodulatory effect
In administration of popular herb used in traditional medicine to treat various disorders such as chronic gastric symptoms, arthritis, and the common cold and its immunomodulatory effect found that observations provided evidence that CWE was able to down-regulate IFN-γ expression in activated T cells without altering IL-2 production, involving inhibition of p38, JNK, ERK1/2, and STAT4, according to the study of “Immunomodulatory effect of water extract of cinnamon on anti-CD3-induced cytokine responses and p38, JNK, ERK1/2, and STAT4 activation” by Lee BJ, Kim YJ, Cho DH, Sohn NW, Kang H.(42)
3.2. Antimicrobial Activities
In the observation of three natural essential oils (i.e., clove bud oil, cinnamon oil, and star anise oil) and their antimicrobal effects found that the cinnamon oil-chitosan film had also better antimicrobial activity than the clove bud oil-chitosan film. The results also showed that the compatibility of cinnamon oil with chitosan in film formation was better than that of the clove bud oil with chitosan, according to the study of “Synergistic Antimicrobial Activities of Natural Essential Oils with Chitosan Films” by Wang L, Liu F, Jiang Y, Chai Z, Li P, Cheng Y, Jing H, Leng X.(43)
3.3. Anti-inflammatory activity
In the investigation of Myristicin (1-allyl-5-methoxy-3,4-methylenedioxybenzene) is an active aromatic compound found in nutmeg (the seed of Myristica fragrans), carrot, basil, cinnamon, and parsley and it anti-inflammatory effects found that Myristicin significantly inhibited the production of calcium, nitric oxide (NO),interleukin (IL)-6, IL-10, interferon inducible protein-10, monocyte chemotactic protein(MCP)-1, MCP-3, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor, macrophage inflammatory protein (MIP)-1α, MIP-1β, and leukemia inhibitory factor in dsRNA[polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid]-induced RAW 264.7 cells (P < 0.05), according to the study of "Anti-inflammatory effect of myristicin on RAW 264.7 macrophages stimulated with polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid" by Lee JY, Park W.(44).

4. Garlic
In the study of the Extracts of aged fresh garlic that are aged over a prolonged period and its antioxidant effects found that the ability of AGE to protect against oxidant-induced disease, acute damage from aging, radiation and chemical exposure, and long-term toxic damage. Although additional observations are warranted in humans, compelling evidence supports the beneficial health effects attributed to AGE, i.e., reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, cancer and aging, including the oxidant-mediated brain cell damage that is implicated in Alzheimer's disease, according to "Antioxidant health effects of aged garlic extract" by
Borek C.(45).

5. Kelp
5.1. Thyroid function
In the investigation of the effects of of two different doses of supplemental kelp on the thyroid function found that short-term dietary supplementation with kelp significantly increases both basal and poststimulation TSH. These findings corroborate previous studies on the effects of supplemental iodide given to euthyroid subjects for a similar period. Further studies are needed to determine whether long-term kelp supplementation would cause clinically significant thyroid disease, according to "Effects of kelp supplementation on thyroid function in euthyroid subjects" by Clark CD, Bassett B, Burge MR.(46).
5.2. Antioxidants
In the observation of Brown algae of the Laminariales (kelps) and its antioxidant effect found that on the thallus surface and in the apoplast, iodide detoxifies both aqueous oxidants and ozone, the latter resulting in the release of high levels of molecular iodine and the consequent formation of hygroscopic iodine oxides leading to particles, which are precursors to cloud condensation nuclei. In a complementary set of experiments using a heterologous system, iodide was found to effectively scavenge ROS in human blood cells, according to "Iodide accumulation provides kelp with an inorganic antioxidant impacting atmospheric chemistry" by Küpper FC, Carpenter LJ, McFiggans GB, Palmer CJ, Waite TJ, Boneberg EM, Woitsch S, Weiller M, Abela R, Grolimund D, Potin P, Butler A, Luther GW 3rd, Kroneck PM, Meyer-Klaucke W, Feiters MC.(47).
