All About Green Tea: Green Tea in Ameliorated Risk and Prevented Onset of Intestinal Ischemia

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk and treatment of intestinal ischemia, some scientists suggested.

Green tea, a precious drink processes numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world. However, as yin in nature herbal medicine or food, long term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, induced "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weaken immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.

Intestinal ischemia is a serious medical condition characterized by reduced blood flow to the
intestines.

In the evaluated 3 groups of male rats ramdonly assigned to Group I (ischemia-reperfusion,I/R) underwent I/R of the intestine (30 min of ischemia followed by 1 h of reperfusion). Group II (green tea + I/R) was given green tea for 2 wk before inducing I/R. Group III (control) with sham I/R, researchers found that injection of green tea group showed an impressive restoration of intestinal mucosa in compared to ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) group.

In observation of cellular antioxidant profile (superoxide dismutase and catalase), green tea group expressed a significant improvement of antioxidants similarly to those of group III and in compared to group II.

The expressions of cellular proliferation markers (proliferating cell nuclear antigen and Ki-67) in regulated intestinal cell division and proliferation were also increased by green tea application..

The above illustration indicated that long term intake of green tea injection may exhibit a strong protection against the intestinal mucosa from injury.

Further differentiation of the effect of Quercetin, the bioactive substance of tea against experimental ischemia- reperfusion (IR) injury of the small intestine in rats, found that quercetin administrated intraperitoneally 30min before 1h ischemia of superior mesenteric artery with following reperfusion periods lasting 1, 4 and 24h significant decreases cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme in the epithelial lining of the intestinal villi in expression of normal cell apoptosis only during 24h of reperfusion in a late phase of IR injury in comparison with the control group.

According to the observation of the morphology of COX-2 positive cells, COX-2 positivity was found particularly in goblet cells with function in secreted the main component of mucus.of the intestinal villi epithelium and enteroendocrine cells found in the wall of the gut that secrete hormones that regulate glucose levels, food intake, and stomach emptying respectively, in the glandular epithelium in the group I mice in compared to significantly lesser levels in green tea group.

Dr. Tóth Š, the lead authors at the joint study said," quercetin application attenuated mucosal damage from IR injury by inhibiting neutrophil infiltration which was demonstrated by a lower number of myeloperoxidase positive cells in the lamina propria".

In other similar study with male specific pathogen-free (SPF) Charles River Wistar rats were used in the experiment with quercetin administered intraperitoneally 30min before 1h ischemia of superior mesenteric artery with following 24h lasting reperfusion period., researchers at the joint study lead by the Pavol Jozef Safarik University, also indicated that application of quercetin increases the production of anti inflammatory cytokine IL10 observed by analysis of the blood sample and jejunal tissue and in the number of CD68-positive cells in the lamina propria mucosae (p<0.001) in initiation of production of new blood vessels growth and inflammatory mytokines in compared to control group.

Dr. Curgali K, the lead authors, after taking into account of other con-founders, said, "the preventive application of quercetin before induction of jejunal IRI stimulates faster jejunal mucosa restoration and it seems to have immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects" and "CD68-positive macrophages could have crucial role in this process since they work as both growth factor and cytokine producers".

Taken together, green tea with abundant bioactive phytochemicals such as quercetin may be considered as a functional food in reduced risk and prevented onset of intestinal ischemia. People with high risk in development of intestinal ischemia may consider to add 1 or 2 cups of green tea into their daily diet.

All About Green Tea: Green tea In Modulated Fat Metabolism

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced abnormal fat metabolism, some scientists suggested.

Fat metabolism is a biological process converted lipid intake to energy for the body needs through breaking down fat into glycerol and fatty acids before being absorbed by the intestines.

In the evaulation of the mechanisms of actions of EGCG on bile acid homeostasis and lipid metabolism of green tea bioactive polyphenol (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), researchers conducted a study included male C57BL/6J mice fed with a low-fat diet, a high-fat western-style diet or a high-fat western-style diet containing 0.32% green tea bioactive polyphenol (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), found that at 17 weeks of experiment, mice group fed with EGCG exhibits a strong effect in reduced body weight gain, mesenteric fat mass, serum cholesterol and severity of fatty liver.

Additional analysis indicated that green tea reduced expression above parameters was a result of significantly elevated the mRNA levels of cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase initiated by cholesterol in inhibition of bile acid synthesis in cholesterol metabolism, thus attenuated absorption of lipid.

Injection of green tea EGCG also increased the level of HMG-CoA reductase in inhibited cholesterol synthesis, biliary lipid secretion, and elevated blood cholesterol through activation of low-density lipoprotein receptors which play an important role of limiting step in lipid synthesis.

Moreover, green tea EGCG also elevated scavenger receptor class B type 1 (SRB1) with functions as a receptor for high-density lipoprotein in meditating the uptake of HDL-derived cholesterol and cholesteryl ester in the liver as well as modulating and regulating certain pathways and networks involved cellular lipids in biological systems.

Dr. Huang J, the lead scientist in the joint study at the State University of New Jersey, said, "The intestinal bile acid content was significantly decreased by EGCG, while fecal excretion of bile acids, cholesterol and total lipids were increased" and "EGCG decreases bile acid reabsorption, results in lower intestinal bile acid levels, which further decreased the absorption of lipids".

Further differentiation of the green tea effect to examine the on lipid levels associated with obesity in C57BL/6J mice fed a normal diet (ND), HFD and HFD with GT for 12 weeks, group with green tea extract and HFD expression a significant alternation of levels of several lipid metabolites observed by the partial least squares discriminant analysis score plot.

Mice group fed with high fat diet demonstrated decreased levels of lysophospholipids (LPLs) (lysophosphatidylcholine, lysophosphatidylethanolamine and lysophosphatidylserine) which show a negative correlation with triglyceride hydrolysis and increased fat absorption in compared to normal diet group. These alternations were not found in mice group fed with HFD plus green tea.

Alternation of lysophospholipid was associated to substantial impact on lysophospholipid metabolism, in contribution of the onset or progression of obesity.

The restoration of lysophospholipids (LPLs) by green tea extract caused by long term high fat diet may be an indication of how green tea reduced expression of inflammation, insulin resistance, and fatty liver disease in obesity.

Interestingly, in the observation of injection of green tea extract in the regulation of hepatic fat metabolism in 36 male chickens fed GTPs at a daily dose of 0, 80 or 160 mg/kg of body weight for 4 weeks, researchers at the joint study lead by the Anhui Agricultural University, suggested that oral administration of green tea polyphenols (GTPs) significantly improves lipid metabolism through reduced hepatic lipid content and abdominal fat mass and abdominal fat mass accumulation which were correlated to onset and progression of over weight and obesity.

Additionally, the application also expressed a strong effect in the phosphorylation levels of AMP-activated protein kinase α (AMPKα) which play an important role in skeletal muscle fatty acid utilization and in regulating growth and reprogramming metabolism, and Acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1 (ACACA) in modulation of fat cell cycle stages and cytokinesis, thus reducing fat synthesis and production of pro inflammatory cytokines.

More importantly, green tea polyphenol also altered the mRNA levels and enzymatic activities in suppressed expression of enzymes involved PUFA in the liver in stimulated lipid synthesis and fat oxidation.

Taken together, green tea containing high amount of bioactive polyphenols, such as catechins may be considered as a functional food to reduce onset and progression of over weight and obesity. However, intake of green tea extract should be taken with care as acute liver toxicity has been reported in some cases.

All About Green Tea: Green Tea In Ameliorated Risk, Progression and Treatment of Liver Fibrosis

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk and treatment of Liver Fibrosis, some scientists suggested.

Green tea containingmore amount of antioxidants than any drink or food with the same volume, is the leaves of Camellia sinensis, undergone minimal oxidation during processing, originated from China.

Liver fibrosis is a liver disease with excessive accumulation of scar tissue as a result of inflammation and liver cell death

According to Fibro Test, approximately, the prevalence of advanced fibrosis was 2.8% in a general population aged 40 years or older.

According to the application of a novel bio-nano particle named 'Chitosan nano-encapsulated green tea extract' at the ultrastructural level on 25 adult rats induced liver toxicity by injection of carbon-tetrachloride and ethanol doses for 3 weeks, rats treated with novel substance expressed a significant reduction of nearly 25% of the sub-cellular area infected with hepatic fibrosis.

The efficacy of Chitosan nano-encapsulated green tea extract in decreased liver fibroids was attributed to the antioxidant activity in inhibited the expression of the injected chemicals in induction over production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in chain reaction to elevated oxidative stress in initiation of liver cell apoptosis.

Observed by scanning electron microscopy, oral administration of novel bio-nano particle also exerted a strong free radical scavengers effect in protected against changes of cell surface structure and surrounding area between the hepatocytes, thus ameliorated risk of collagen deposit to cause liver fibroids.

Moreover, in carbon tetrachloride CCL4 induced fibrotic liver tissues in rat models, treatment of Green Tea Extract (GTE) encapsulated into Chitosan Nanoparties (CS-NPs) revealed that collagen fibers of 250 to 300 nm widths found in the fibrotic liver samples of control group with no treatment were cleared in green tea treatment group.

The effectiveness of GTE is reduced expression of collagen fibers in the liver a was found to correlate to the antioxidant expression in reduced CCL4 in induction of over production of free radicals in precipitated liver tissue damage.

Interestingly, in the evaluation of the protective effect of green tea extract (GT) on hepatic fibrosis in vitro and in vivo in dimethylnitrosamine (DMN)-induced rats, researchers at the Korea University, indicated that application of GT inhibited activated HSC-T6, a rat hepatic stellate cell line which is considered as the major cell type involved in liver fibrosis.

The application also attenuated the collagen deposition which are elevated and acted as a biomaker for progression of liver fibrosis, particularly, in expression of collagen type 1 formation of scar tissue in response to liver damage, found in the early event in the development of hepatic fibrosis, confirmed both by liver histology and by quantitative measurement of hepatic hydroxyproline content.

Dr. Kim HK, the lead author said, "green tea administration can effectively improve liver fibrosis caused by DMN, and may be used as a therapeutic option and preventive measure against hepatic fibrosis".

Taken together, green tea with abundant bioactive polyphenols may have a therapeutic and pharmaceutical effect in reduced risk, progression and treatment of liver fibroid caused by forming of scars as a result of liver damage through antioxidant activity.

All About Green Tea: Green Tea in Modulated Gastrointestinal Phases of Digestion

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in enhanced gastrointestinal function in food absorption, some scientists suggested.

According to the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, native catechins found in green tea were not absorbed by digestive system after intake. The polyphenol were accumulate in the intestinal lumen inside space of a tubular structure where they exhibited a significant activity in ameliorated cellular glucose and cholesterol uptake, thus reducing risk in over expression of fasting glucose and lipid accumulation entering the blood stream in induction of syndromes of abnormal high blood sugar and cholesterol.

The pervaded catechins found approximately, 2-15% in the intestinal levels significantly binded to 37% to plasma HDLs through inhibiting the key enzymes involved in lipid biosynthesis and reduced intestinal lipid absorption, thus improving blood lipid profile.action of cholesterol metabolism.

Further analysis of the unstable condition of polyphenols in intestinal environment, also found that transition from the gastric phase to the intestinal phase of green tea extract show a 50% decrease in the antioxidant activity due to the degradation of polyphenols but the deceased extract still exert a strong effect in gastrointestinal environment.

However, intake of whole food milk and cheese in the definition of dairy matrices displayed a significant improvement of polyphenol stability in the intestinal phase and increase of the antioxidant activity by 29% (cheese) to 42% (milk) in compared to non green tea injection control.

Additionally, administration of green tea also demonstrated a strong activity in decreased expression of stomach secretes pepsinogen, in breaking down milk and cheese protein and fat intake in degraded into their component polypeptide or amino acid and glycerol and fatty acids, respectively in the gastric phase but had no effect in the intestinal phase, thus reducing glucose and fat being absorbed and presented in the blood stream.

The finding evidences showed that green tea polyphenols intake together with dairy products improved antioxidant activity and enhanced the integrity of polyphenols during digestion.

Interestingly, in the evaluated rats fed with selenium-containing green tea (Se-GTE, 1.44 mg selenium/kg dry leaves) and China green tea(CH-GTE, 0.13 mg selenium/kg leaves) and China green tea(CH-GTE) effect in the intestinal micro bacterial activity researchers indicated that oral administration of rat group fed with Se-GTE extract for 6 days exerted a significant increase in caecal counts of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria while significantly reducing the caecal counts of bacteroides and clostridial bacteria in compared to CH-GTE rat group in slight but not significant increase in the numbers of caecal lactobacilli and bifidobacteria but decreased significantly the numbers of bacteroides (p < 0.05) and clostridia.

Moreover, rats fed with CH-GTE and Se-GTE showed a 17.2% and 21.3% reduction in the activity of the bacterial enzyme β-glucuronidase, which has been found in contribution of biliary sludge and stone formation and increased risk for colorectal cancer, respectively.

More promisingly, teatment of both CH-GTE and Se-GTE also resulted in 19% and 25.5% increments in the activity of β-glucosidase in reduced beta-D-glucosides and oligosaccharides in released glucose, respectively

Taken together, green tea with abundantly major bioactive polyphenols may be considered a function food in improved gastrointestinal function but reduced absorption of glucose and lipid in induction of abnormal high fasting blood sugar and cholesterol levels through binding to fat and protein in the gastric phase of digestion.

All About Green Tea: A Compilation of HOW Green Tea and Its Bioactive Epigallocatechin gallate EGCG in Reduced Risk and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases

Green tea containing bioactive polyphenols may have a strong implication in reduced risk and treatment of cardiovascular disease, some scientists postulated.

Cardiovascular disease are chronic medical condition characterized of narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack including chest pain (angina) or stroke.

According to statistic, heart disease is the second leading cause of death, claiming more than 48,000 lives every year.in Canada.

In the differentiation of green tea bioactive polyphenols epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG in risk of cardiovascular disease researchers at the joint study lead by the Colorado State University found that application of EGCG activated the expression of the nuclear erythroid-2 like factor-2 (Nrf2) transcription factor in stimulated transcription of antioxidative genes in protection of cell against oxidative stress in induction of CVD.

In compared to statins, the conventional medicine may be effective in reduced heart attacks and strokes in people at moderate and high risk but it can also cause cancers and multi-drug resistance cancer, EGCG ameliorated risk of CVD without giving rise to adverse effects.

Further analysis of EGCG efficacy in risk of cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome by searching literature published online of major scientific databases, from 1995 to 2017, scientists found that EGCG exhibits a wide range of therapeutic properties including associated with the inhibition of LDL cholesterol in reduced risk of plague accumulated in the arterial wall in elevated risk of atherosclerosis, attenuated angiotensin II (AngII) through inhibiting transcription factor NF-κB in induced abnormal enlargement, or thickening of the heart muscle, and reduced risk of highly oxidative enzyme myeloperoxidase(MPO) activity in promoted myocardial infarction, as level of myeloperoxidase(MPO) is considered as a biomaker used in assessment of risk of heart attack.

Additionally, EGCG also exerted significant and profound effects in ameliorated risk of diabetes through lowering plasma glucoses and gycated haemoglobin level, inhibited pro inflammatory factors in elevated inflammation in the early phase of acute infection and chronic infection as well as blocking expression of ROS in stimulated free radical chain reaction through its antioxidant activity.

Dr. Eng QY, after taking into account of other con founders, siad, "EGCG shows different biological activities and in this review, a compilation of how this bioactive molecule plays its role in treating cardiovascular and metabolic diseases".

Moreover, in a total of 9 studies including 259,267 individuals satisfied the criteria and guideline included in the meta-analysis.by examining published literature in evaluated the association between green tea consumption, CVD, and ischemic related diseases. up to October 2014, researchers indicated that for non green tea drinker, risk of CVD was 1.19, intracerebral hemorrhage was 1.24 and cerebral infarction was 1.15 in compared to people who drank <1 cup green tea per day.

Not surprisingly, people who drank 1-3 cups of green tea per day had a reduced risk of myocardial infarction 0.81, and stroke 0.64 in compared compared to those who drank <1 cup/day and who drank ≥4 cups/day had a reduced risk of myocardial infarction of 0.68 in compared to those who drank <1 cup/day.

And for people who consumed ≥10 cups/day of green tea were also shown to have lower LDL in compared to group who drank <3 cups/day.

Dr. Pang J, the lead author at the final stage of the experiment said, "(The) meta-analysis provides evidence that consumption of green tea is associated with favorable outcomes with respect to risk of cardiovascular and ischemic related diseases".
The results finding of all studies confirmed that consumption of green tea is associated with favorable outcomes with respect to risk of cardiovascular disease as well as expression of various serum markers in compilation of how green tea initiated protective activity against CVD.

All About Green Tea: Green Tea and its Bioactive Polyphenols Epigallocatechin-3-gallate in Attenuated Risk and Treatment of Autoimmune Hepatitis

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk and treatment of autoimmune hepatitis, some scientists suggested.

Autoimmune hepatitis is a medical condition characterized by immune system attacking the liver cells in induction of liver cirrhosis as a result of long term liver cellular inflammation and necrosis.

The study of concanavalin A (ConA) (25 mg/kg) induced autoimmune hepatitis in mice, pretreatment of green tea exerted a strong inhibition of inflammatory cytokines through increased Bcl-2 expression with function of blocking the apoptotic death of some cells and deceased activity of protein Bax in activated p53 a tumor suppressor to induce cell death and caspase-3, and Caspase-9 proteins in signaling molecules in responsible for executing cell death in compared to ConA-treated group within 8 hours of applications, according to observation of TUNEL assay by detecting apoptotic cells that undergo extensive DNA degradation.

In other words, green tea EGCG administration reduced expression of ConA in induction of decreased numbers of infectious cells being attacked by the immune system, thus ameliorated risk of liver cell damage.

Further differentiation indicated that application of green tea bioactive polyphenols Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (10 or 30 mg/kg) orally twice daily for 10 days before ConA injection demonstrates a significant activity in reduced activation of BNIP3, a member of the apoptotic Bcl-2 protein family in mediated infectious cell apoptosis through autophagy in induced destruction of damaged or redundant cellular components in compared to lectin ConA.
The result of green tea EGCG efficacy in induction of BNIP3 to decrease expression of concanavalin A (ConA) in reduction of numbers infectious cell proliferation was attributed to the IL-6/JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway which plays an important role in the mechanisms in exhibited green tea EGCG antioxidant activity in blocking infectious cells migration and invasion in exhibited hepatoprotective effect.

In other words, said, Dr. Li S, the lead scientist "EGCG attenuated liver injury in ConA-induced hepatitis by down-regulating IL-6/JAKs/STAT3/BNIP3-mediated apoptosis and autophagy".

Further differentiation also found that green tea EGCG administration inhibited the immune over reaction and pathological damage by decreased expression of inflammatory cytokines induced by Tumor necrosis factor (TNF), tumor necrosis factor alpha, a cell signaling protein (cytokine) in activated systemic inflammation in the acute phase infection.

Additionally, green tea also modulated the inflammatory factors, interleukin 6 (IL-6), the pro inflammatory cytokines and anti inflammatory mytokins promptly and transiently produced in response to infections and tissue injuries and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), a cytokine that plays an important role in inducing and modulating immune responses to the infectious tissue, as well as cytokine interleukin-1β (IL-1β), a key mediator of the inflammatory response in protected body against pathological invasion.

Taken together, green tea and its bioactive Epigallocatechin-3-gallate EGCG may be considered a functional food to reduced risk and used combination with standard therapy for treatment of autoimmune hepatitis.

All About Green Tea: Green Tea and Bioactive Polyphenols Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) in Protection Against Memory Deficits

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in protected against memory deficits, some scientists suggested.

Green tea, a precious drink processes numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world. However, as yin in nature herbal medicine or food, long term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, induced "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weaken immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.ore

Memory deficit are, medical condition characterized lost of the ability in store and recall past information, such as knowledge, sensation, thoughts,......

Lost of memory function is not only associated with normal aging progression in adult population but considered as a feature of neurodegenerative diseases, including psychiatric and neurological disorders.

According to the Harvard neuro discovery center, today, approximately 5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease; 1 million from Parkinson's; 400,000 from multiple sclerosis (MS); 30,000 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease), and 30,000 from Huntington's disease.

The evaluate green tea extract (GTex) and its major functional polyphenol (−)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) effect on memory of cerebral ischemic rats showed that green tea EGCG and pentoxifylline (PTX), a methylxanthine derivative with anti-inflammatory function, application after 1 hour demonstrates a strong efficacy in improved ishemic-induced memory impairment, according to Morris water maze test.

Long term treatment of green tea EGCG also displayed a significant increase level of antioxidant such as malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, glutathione (GSH), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus, through prevented cerebral infraction breakdown of MDA and GSH in the hippocampus, in protected against damage to cellular components caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) including free radicals, peroxides, lipid peroxides....

Further analysis, green tea EGCG inhibited BV-2 microglia cells in induction of brain inflammatory effect in precipitated neurodegeneration and neuro toxicology to facilitate memory impairment, through ameliorated the expression of lipopolysaccharide- (LPS-) in exhibited free radical nitric oxide production which are associated to in initiated neurotoxicity.

Additionally, the applicatiopn also ameliorated the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression associated with pro-inflammatory activities in mediated neurodegenerative processes of several acute and chronic diseases and expression of the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), one of the direct consequences of an inflammatory process in the BV-2 cells.

In short, the experiment of cerebral ischemia animal model indicated that green extract and its active polyphenol EGCG improved learning and memory deficits through exhibited antioxidant activity in reduction of oxidative stress and neuro-inflammation.

Moreover, green tea Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) with beneficial effects on the impairment in learning and memory also demonstrated in increased autophagic activation in getting rid of damage and dysfunctional cell accumulation to protect healthy neuron from stressful conditions, such as over expression of ROS presentation, according to the experiment of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-induced cognitive impairment in rats and observed through the elevated LC3-II, a reliable method for monitoring autophagy and autophagy-related processes, including autophagic cell death.and p62 protein level, an useful marker for the induction of autophagy,

At the same time, the green tea EGCG also displayed a strong inhibition of increased neuronal loss and activated mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR)/p70 ribosomal protein S6 kinase (p70S6k) signaling caused by implication of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) in the CA1 regions in the hippocampal circuit in initiation of the pathophysiology of memory deficits, thus reducing amyloid beta1-42 (Aβ1-42) deposit, and restored autophagic degradation activity.

Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR)/p70 ribosomal protein S6 kinase (p70S6k) signaling pathway is an essential cellular signaling pathway involved a number of important physiological functions, including cell growth, proliferation, metabolism, protein synthesis, and autophagy.

Taken together, green tea and its bioactive polyphenols Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) may be considered as adjunct therapy in reduced risk and enhanced standard medicine for treatment of memory deficits.
