Carrots may have a profound and positive effect in ameliorating types 2 diabetes, some scientists suggested.
The results of the differentiation were carried out by numbers of respectable Universities, including Nanchang University and published at numbers of online medical literature.
You can view the abstract of the quoted studies by clicking the resources links.
Diabetes is a condition characterized by insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream in the regulation of levels of glucose.
The disease is either caused by cells in pancreas dying off or receptor sites clogged up by fat and cholesterol.
In some cases, diabetes is also caused by the allergic reaction of cells in the immune system.
Symptoms of type 2 diabetes are characterized by high blood sugar, insulin resistance, and relative lack of insulin with the most common symptoms of increased thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss......
According to the epidemiological studies, uncontrolled diabetes may induce serious complications, including cardiovascular disease(5), nerve damage (neuropathy)(6), kidney damage (nephropathy)(7), eye damage (retinopathy)(7), foot damage(8), skin conditions(9),........
Carrot, a root vegetable with an orange color is a subspecies of Daucus carota, belongings to the family Apiaceae, native to Asian and Europe.

In the evaluation of the effects of black carrot and its major phenolic compounds, in reduced onset of diabetes, researchers at the joint analysis lead by the Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, launched an investigation of molecular interactions of phenolic compounds of black carrot with enzymes involved in glucose metabolism in compared to standard inhibitors in human.
According to vitro assay, black carrot purified extract and the standard inhibitors acarbose and vildagliptin, oral anti-hyperglycemic drugs exerted significant activities in inhibition of α-amylase, α-glucosidase and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP4).
α-Amylase, an amylase is an enzyme with the function of catalyzes the hydrolysis of starch into sugars.
Alpha-glucosidase is a glucosidase with function in breaking down starch and disaccharides to glucose.
And, alpha-glucosidase inhibitors are conventional oral anti-diabetic drugs with function in preventing the digestion of carbohydrates in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP4), a serine exopeptidase has a strong implication to the onset of type 2 diabetes with function in regulation of the biological activity of hormones and chemokines, such as glucagon-like peptide-1, an incretin hormone which has a significant impact in glucose-dependent insulin secretion and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide with an unique function on insulin and glucagon secretion in humans.
At IC50 value, purified extract of black carrot demonstrated a stronger effect in compared to the standard inhibitor acarbose, the conventional diabetic drug.
According to the docking scores, application of black carrot extract inhibited diabetes through its expression of antioxidant in the production of fewer anthocyanin molecules compared to their respective inhibitors.
Further analysis of the anthocyanin molecules of black carrot, cyanidin 3-xylosyl galactoside researchers discovered that black carrot extract displays potential drug activities in inhibited enzymes, serine exopeptidase Dipeptidyl peptidase-4(DPP4) similar to those of vildagliptin.
Dr. Karkute SG, the lead scientist, after taking into account of other confounders said, "Anthocyanins from black carrot were found to be effective to control diabetes" and "Cyaniding 3-xylosyl galactoside (isolated from carrot and wild carrot) is the best potential molecule for inhibiting enzymes involved in glucose metabolism".
In animal model assigned to non-diabetes mellitus (NDM), untreated diabetes mellitus (DM), DM plus L. plantarum NCU116 (NCU), DM plus fermented carrot juice with L. plantarum NCU116 (FCJ), and DM plus non-fermented carrotjuice (NFCJ) for evaluation of the effect of carrot juice fermented with Lactobacillus plantarum NCU116 on high-fat and low-dose streptozotocin (STZ)-induced type 2 diabetes, researchers once again reaffirmed that
* NCU and FCJ treatment group at for 5 weeks exerted a favorably regulated blood glucose, hormones, and lipid metabolism, accompanied by an increase in short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) in the colon.
Increased short-chain fatty acids in the colon were associated with diabetic amelioration.
Application of NCU and FCJ also exhibits an anti-diabetes effect in restored the antioxidant capacity and other aspects in regulated the abnormal function in glucose metabolism, including Morphology of
* The pancreas and kidney (morphological changes in the podocyte foot processes in the glomerulus and in microvilli of proximal tubules are an indication of the diabetic kidney. And morphological changes of the pancreas reduced size and numbers of islet are associated with patients with diabetes)
* mRNA of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor, (morphological changes of mRNA of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor reduce the function of LDL in the regulation of insulin production).
* Cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1), (morphological changes of CYP7A1 reduce the function of the host in the regulation of bile acid synthesis and dyslipidemia in diabetes)
* Glucose transporter-4 (GLUT-4), ( morphological changes of GLUT-4 reduces the function of the host in mediated glucose removal.
* Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α (PPAR-α), and Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) (morphological changes of PPAR-α and PPAR-γ decrease the essential role of these receptors in lipid metabolism and insulin sensitivity).
By observation of black carrot functions in lipid and glucose metabolism through other mechanisms, Dr. Li C, the lead authors suggested, "L. plantarum NCU116 and the fermented carrot juice had the potential ability to ameliorate type 2 diabetes in rats".
Taken together, black carrot and carrot and carrot extracts may be considered as a functional food in attenuated type 2 diabetes
However, further data collection on studies performed with human consumption during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of its potential in ameliorated diabetic possibilities.
Intake of supplementation should be taken with special care in the prevention of acute liver toxicity.

How to Alleviate Severity, Duration & Frequency of Chronic Headache Naturally and Effectively
Yoga therapy may have an important role in regulated central versus peripheral mechanisms in the expression of a chronic headache, the study by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences suggested.
Yoga, the ancient technique for harmonized external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture..... has been best known for people in the Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.
According to the study to investigate the role of muscle spasm overactivity in chronic tension-type headache (CTTH) with 15 patients of CTTH and 7 age-matched controls, randomized assigned to either yoga intervention or control, yoga group demonstrated a significant improvement in reduced overactivity of temporalis muscle in CTTH patients at rest in compared with control.
Furthermore, after examined the EMG records, researchers found that yoga group displays a strong improvement of subjective pain scores. and a substantial decrease in the mean electromyography (EMG) amplitude of temporalis muscle during rest and mental activity in compared to other applications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, botulinum toxin injections.
EMG amplitude is a medical technique used to evaluate details of the timing and magnitude of muscle activation as well as muscles in powering a variety of types of locomotion.
Truly, yoga breathing and relaxation reduced daily stress through calming the central nervous system by connecting the mind and body, restoring the endocrine system in hormone balancing.
The technique of practice also reduced production of stress hormone cortisol and brought back the present moment, while letting them go or dealing them in a profound way.
Furthermore, yoga postures and deep breathing ameliorated overexpression of nerve neurons in the transmitted information of sensation, stress, and suffering by strengthening the flow of energy, thus enhancing relaxation in response to pain through unraveling the mind-body samskaras.
Moreover, in a study of 50 patients (aged 18-58 years) in a clinical diagnosis of CCTH, divided into 2 groups,
* Group 1 (n=30) patients have received 8 lessons and practical demonstration of Brahmakumaris spiritual based meditation known as Rajyoga meditation for relaxation therapy, in addition to routine medical treatment (analgesics and muscle relaxants) and
* Group 2 (n=20) patients have received analgesics and muscle relaxants twice a day but no relaxation therapy in the form of meditation by the Dr. Kiran, and colleagues, to support of the effect of yoga therapy in reduced symptoms and pain in tension types of a headache,
After 8 weeks follow up period, scientists showed that both therapies show a highly significant reduction in headache variables but yoga group expressed a highly significant relief of severity, duration & frequency of a headache by 94%, 91% and 97% in compared to group 2 of 36%, 36%, and 49% respectively.
The total headache relief according to headache index was 99% in yoga group in compared to only 51% in the control group.
These results indicated that yoga intervention may have an acute effect in ameliorated pain in chronic tension headache.
More promisingly, in the study to provide preliminary data on the feasibility, acceptability, and safety of alignment-based yoga for youths with chronic headaches, researchers at the joint study led by the Medical College of Wisconsin/Children's Hospital of Wisconsin found that yoga therapy may be considered pediatric headaches treatment, indicated by positive parent and participant ratings of the yoga experience.
Indeed, some yoga instructors suggested that the alleviation of stress by yoga exercise in reduced insomnia and swelling and constriction of the blood vessels was a result of yoga in initiated deep sleep and reduced tension of the blood vessels in the face and neck.
Additionally, these results were also associated with yoga exercise effects in enhanced head muscles relaxation and revitalization and improved hypertension in blood circulation, particularly in people with a chronic headache.
The findings suggested that yoga intervention may be used as an integrated form of exercise in provided relief in the severity of a headache, duration & frequency of a chronic headache, particularly in tension types of a headache.

How to Prevent Onset of Pulmonary Fibrosis Naturally
Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect to reduce risk and progression and treatment of pulmonary fibrosis, some scientists suggested.
Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a chronic and progressive condition of lung disease characterized by reduced numbers and increased stiffness of air sac in the lungs (alveoli), affecting the lung breathing function to provide enough oxygen into the bloodstream
Green tea is a precious drink processed numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and the Western world.
In the evaluation of green tea extract efficacy in pulmonary fibrosis caused by direct injury due to overexpression of oxygen free radicals and inflammatory cells and fibroblasts in mice model with injection of Paraquat (0.3 mg/kg) into the right lungs of rats, after 2 weeks, then assigned the tested mice to group treated by green tea extract or non treatment groups and control group treated by saline, after assessment, researchers found that
* Nontreatment group exerts a significant expression of pulmonary fibrosis, observed by contents of light microscopic morphometry and hydroxyproline and overcapacity of ROS observed by the lipid peroxidation assay.
Light microscopic morphometry is a valuable technique in the analysis of precancerous lesions at the light and electron microscopic level, in this case, it is pulmonary fibrosis.
Further examination also discovered that non-treatment mice group displays a pronouncedly increased
levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), an indication of overexpression of free radicals in induction of oxidative stress caused by ROS chain reaction and endothelin (ET)-1, and prepro-ET-1 mRNA expression, a strong indication of the endothelium signals of vasoconstriction and local cellular growth and survival of air sac cells in the lungs (alveoli).
Malondialdehyde (MDA) is a marker of oxidative stress
Endothelin 1 (ET-1) is a potent vasoconstrictor
Compared to nontreatment and saline groups, green tea administered 1% GTE mixed with feed group shows a significant decrease in pulmonary fibrosis, along with decreases in MDA, ET-1, and prepro-ET-1 mRNA expression
The result suggested that green tea inhibitory oxidative activity in reduced expression of pulmonary fibrosis through the promoted production of antioxidants and antioxidants from the host restore the ratio of antioxidant and free radicals and decreased the facilitation of proinflammatory cytokines in precipitated damage and apoptosis of lung cells and fibroblasts.
Dr. Kim HR, the lead author, after taking into account other confounders said, "GTE inhibits paraquat-induced pulmonary fibrosis by suppression of oxidative stress and ET-1 expression".
Additional study of the neutrophils in the site of infection in initiated host defense and inflammation for pulmonary fibrosis development by the Medical School of Padova, revealed that application of green tea (-)epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) strongly inhibits neutrophil elastase by repressing the reactive oxygen species activity in the induction of apoptosis of activated neutrophils.
In vitro, administration of EGCG dramatically inhibited chemokine expression, secondary pro-inflammatory mediators induced by primary pro-inflammatory in activated neutrophil chemotaxis in the migration of neutrophils of the immune system to the site of infection.
Importantly, injection of green tea EGCG also demonstrated a significant effect by blocking neutrophil-mediated angiogenesis in vivo by the initiated growth of new blood vessels to stimulate and fuel the ongoing lung cell damage and death of the cell in the alveoli.
This differentiation constituted a substantial and protective effect in enhanced resolution in a pulmonary inflammation model and significantly reduced consequent fibrosis.
Dr. Donà M, at the end of the analysis, said, "These results provide molecular and cellular insights into the claimed beneficial properties of green tea and indicate that EGCG is a potent anti-inflammatory compound with therapeutic potential".
The above analysis of green tea effect in protect the lung against the development of pulmonary fibrosis caused by free radical chain reaction and overproduction of pro-inflammatory factors were supported by the study of "the protective effect of green tea extract (GTE), curcumin, against N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) on experimentally induced pulmonary fibrosis" by Cairo University.
According to the study, application of curcumin (200 mg/kg b.w), GTE (150 mg/kg b.w), and NAC (490 mg/kg b.w) orally for 14 days with concomitant administration of cyclophosphamide (CP), revealed a strong activity in inhibited oxidative stress and lung myeloperoxidase activity observed in animals of the CP group.
Cyclophosphamide is a chemo drug used to suppress the immune system.
Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a highly oxidative enzyme.
Treatment group also decreased the levels of N-acetyl-β-d-glucosaminidase, leukotriene C₄, and protein in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) in demonstration of overreaction of immune response in induction of inflammation through inhibited production of proinflammatory cytokines (growth factor-β, interleukin -1β, and histamine) in initiated lung injury and induced apoptosis of lung cells.
N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase) in the analysis of kidney disease including nephrotoxicity.
Leukotriene C₄ is a leukotriene produced and secreted by eosinophils on activation.
Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) is used to analyze interstitial lung diseases.
Protein abundance levels in BALF is a marker of lung diseases
Taken together, green tea and its bioactive polyphenols may be considered a functional food for the prevention and treatment of pulmonary fibrosis through reducing oxidative stress and inflammatory effect in elevated risk and progression of the disease.

How to Cure Impetigo Naturally With No Adverse Effects
Green tea or tea lotion may have a therapeutic and positive effect better than conventional medicine Framycetin and Cephalexin gramicidin (soframycin) in the treatment of impetigo, some scientists suggested.
The disease investigation was differentiated by numbers of institutes including Baghdad University and the results of the studies were published in the online literature.
You can view the abstract of studies from PubMed, by clicking any of the resources' link.
Impetigo is a skin condition caused by bacterial skin infection with symptoms of blisters and sores,
around the nose and mouth, and on the arms or legs. In some case, it may appear in the facial area.
The disease infects mostly children.
In differentiated the effect of tea lotion against impetigo infected by bacteria, researchers at the Baghdad University conducted a study with participated of a total of 104 patients, including 47 females (45.2%) and 57 males (54.8%) with ages ranged from one month to 40 years with a median of 4 years.
Patients were randomly assigned to the treatment group with green tea applied to the infected areas and the control group.
According to the diagnosis from the swabbed collected from patients, and analyzed by microbiology impetigo contagiosa, pure S. aureus and the combination of S. aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes were presented in 94.3% and 5.7% respectively in all patients.
These results suggested that the prevalent risk of impetigo is mostly caused by the infection of S. aureus.
Application tea lotion, including green tea, demonstrated a significant effect in reduced infectious areas substantially with the successfully cured rate of 81.3% in compared to control non-treatment group.
In examining the 40 patients in control group further assigned to 2 groups received either an ointment containing Framycetin or gramicidin (soframycin), researchers found that Framycetin and cephalexin gramicidin (soframycin) exerted a potential a cure rate of only 72.2% and 78.6%, respectively.
The results suggested that tea ointment or lotion displayed a better effect in treating impetigo in compared to conventional medicine Framycetin and gramicidin (soframycin) without inducing any adverse effects.
Dr. Sharquie KE, after taking into account of other co and confounders said, "(tea lotion) demonstrated the anti-bacterial action of crude tea in vivo, against impetigo contagiosa".
In further evaluation of green tea effect in reduced prevalence of skin infection, researchers at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine Rochester showed that catechins found in green tea have shown promise for having antimicrobial effects, particular in fractions of (-)-epicatechin (EC), (-)-epicatechin-3-gallate (ECG), (-)-epigallocatechin (EGC), and (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG).
Researchers continued, application of green tea bioactive catechin exhibited a variety of antimicrobial mechanisms and may be considered as a potential for preventive and therapeutic purposes.
In fact, relatively low concentrations of ECG was found to sensitize methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) clinical isolates to levels of oxacillin.
And, Catechin gallates such as ECG also showed to intercalate into phospholipid bilayers, affecting both virulence and antibiotic resistance by perturbing the function of the bacterial process of invasion.
The results may be attributed to green tea effect in reduced key processes associated with the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane.
However, further data collection on studies performed with human consumption during the course of infections, and studies on the occurrence of infections in populations that consume regular amounts of green tea will be necessary to complete the picture of its antimicrobial possibilities.

Infectious Diseases: Carrot, The Tasty Food That Gobbles Up Pathogenic Microorganisms, Scientists Reveal
Carrots may have a profound and positive effect in gobbled up foreign microbial organisms before they can cause infection and damage to the host tissue, some scientists suggested.
The results of the veggie inhibition of mycobacterial expression in increased risk of infection were demonstrated by respectable institutes, including Iowa State University and Université de Monastir.
Infectious tissue caused by microbial organisms can induce transmissible disease or communicable disease through the production of toxins.
Most common symptoms of infection are a fever. This is the result of the reaction of the immune response in stimulated overproduction of pro-inflammatory cytokines in protection the damage or injury against micro pathogens.
However, over repression of pro-inflammatory factors can also induce tissue damage and forming of scars.
Other common symptoms also include chills and sweats, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion,....and burning or pain with urination
Some researchers suggested that most people with a balance of antioxidant, produced by tissue enzyme and free radicals are normally performed quite well against microorganisms during the time of infection.
Unluckily, people with a weakened immune system caused by reduced levels of antioxidant enzymes may need to gobble up some anti-inflammatory agents to speed up the recovery.
Conventional antibiotics may be helpful, however, they can cause severe adverse effects.

In the investigate the effect of essential oils extracted from Daucus carota L. (Apiaceae) seeds in inhibited the spread of microbial organism through comparison of 4 volatile compounds β-bisabolene (mean content of 39.33%), sabinene (8.53%), geranyl acetate (7.12%), and elemicin (6.26%), researchers found that application of all compounds exert strong activity in inhibited expression of Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and two Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium).
The result of efficacy probably was due to carrot seed extract's protection of cell membrane against micro organism in initiated cell infection
Nornally, infectious agents invade cell membrane as the entry point to alternate DNA of the healthy cells.
In vitro, injection of all major compounds also showed a potential effect against Candida albicans, a pathogenic yeast.
Further more, essential oil of carrot seed extract also exerted a similar antibacterial and antifungal activities in compared to the individual compound.
Some researchers suggested that antioxidant may also have a profound effect in the initiated expression of free radical cytotoxicity in facilitating the damage and death of microorganims, particularly in the infectious cells.
Interestingly, the precipitated cytotoxicity induced by reactive oxygen species and carrot antioxidant did not cause harm to the healthy cells.
Also, the expression of antioxidant in the found compound ameliorated the immune response to protect our body against the stimulation of microorganism in the initiated production of inflammatory cytokine without reduced immune activity.
Over expression of proinflammation not only associated to increase symptoms of swelling, pain, fever but also the risk of cell damage and apoptosis in the site of infection, leading to the abnormal healing skin.
Additionally, in the analysis of the carrot essential oil from flowers and roots of Daucus carota L. ssp. maritimus obtained by hydrodistillation, researchers at the Université de Monastir reported that out of thirty-two and six compounds were identified in flower and root oils, phenolic derivatives (76.3%), myristicin (31; 29.7%), and dillapiole (32; 46.6%) constituted to main fraction demonstrated most protective effect in the inhibition of a series of common human pathogenic bacteria.
According to the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) assays, the found chemical compound also inhibited some clinically and environmentally isolated strains.
The findings suggested that carrot with abundant bioactive compounds may be used as a functional food for reduced risk and treatment of mycobacterial infection.

Herbal Alfalfa,The Anti-inflammatory Diseases Natural Whole Food and Plant
The efficacy of botany in the use of plants for treatment and cure diseases with little or no side effects have drawn interest in today conscientious scientists, since the discovery of aspirin (from willow bark), quinine (from cinchona bark), and morphine (from the opium poppy)...
However, the development of synthetic single medicine for treating diseases is not beneficial to patients but profits to the big pharmaceutical companies symptoms.
The use of conventional medicine for the treatment of one disease is found to induce serious side effects in the short term and serious complications in the long-term.
Examples
* Intake of aspirin may facilitate symptoms of black, bloody, or tarry stools; coughing up blood, severe nausea, vomiting,........ and stomach pain. Long-term use of the medicine can cause stroke as a result of burst blood vessels,.... and gastrointestinal bleeding.
* Administration of quinine can induce serious symptoms of fever, chills, confusion, weakness, sweating; severe vomiting, stomach pain,.... and diarrhea chest pain. And long-term intake can induce trouble breathing, severe dizziness, fainting, fast or pounding heartbeats,.... and problems with vision or hearing.
Inflammation is a natural process of immune reaction that protest our body against infection and injury. Overexpression of inflammatory substances produced by the immune system may cause the localized physical condition of reddened, swollen, hot, and often painful. However, in some cases, over the presence of pro-inflammatory cytokines can induce cytotoxicity that damages healthy cells and tissue.
According to the free dictionary by Farlex(4), there are 3 major components that make up the state of acute inflammation, including
* Changes in the caliber of blood vessels and the rate of blood flow through them (hemodynamic changes)
* Increased capillary permeability, and
* Leukocytic exudation.
And chronic inflammation may be a slow onset but it is characterized by persistent inflammation and lack of clear resolution as the infectious tissues and cells are no longer able to overcome the effects caused by the injuring agents.
Chronic inflammation can eventually cause several diseases and conditions, including some cancers, autoimmune diseases,....... and rheumatoid arthritis.
Alfalfa, a botany plant may be used to modulate immune response for treatment of acute inflammation and diseases associated with chronic inflammation, some scientists suggested.
Alfalfa is a flowering plant in the genus Medicago, belonging to the family Fabaceae, cultivated all over the world as hay for cattle feeding.
The herbal plant has been used in traditional medicine over thousands of year to treat high cholesterol, asthma, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, enhanced digestive system, bleeding disorder, kidney, and urinary tract infection, etc.
North American aboriginals have used Alfalfa seed as food in making bread and mush.
According to studies, alfalfa expressed significant anti-inflammatory effect through the inhibiting production of pro-inflammatory cytokines during injury, foreign invasion, and free radical domino's action, etc....
The University of Maryland study of novel pectic polysaccharide from alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.) stem, suggested that the phytochemicals isolated from alfalfa exert significant anti-inflammatory effect against mRNA expressions of the pro-inflammatory cytokine genes, especially for IL-1β antibody(1).
IL-1β is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that used the major source of macrophages in response to the early stage of inflammation.
Chronic inflammatory expression of human IL-1β is associated with gastric inflammation and tumorigenesis in stomachs of studies mice.
The chloroform extract of alfalfa aerial part also inhibited the function of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of Gram-negative bacteria in stimulated immune responses in induced inflammation and suppressed LPS-mediated activation of the extracellular signal-regulated the proinflammatory and prothrombotic responses of nuclear factor kappa-B pathway(2).
Dr. Toby Lawrence, in the evaluation of "The Nuclear Factor NF-κB Pathway in Inflammation" said, "The nuclear factor NF-κB pathway has long been considered a prototypical proinflammatory signaling pathway, largely based on the role of NF-κB in the expression of proinflammatory genes including cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules" and " NF-κB has long been considered the “holy grail” as a target for new anti-inflammatory drugs"(6).
The cinnamic acid derivatives and fatty acids active constituents of the extract were also effective in ameliorated inflammation and immune response through inhibition of nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) involved in the development of inflammatory diseases(3).
Nitric oxide (NO), plays a duo role in the pathogenesis of inflammation as anti-inflammatory cytokine under normal physiological conditions. However, the molecule also acts as a pro-inflammatory mediator in abnormal situations.
Tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), a key regulator of the inflammatory response, plays an important role in the regulation of cellular responses, which include cell death, survival, differentiation, proliferation, and migration by stimulating a change of vascular endothelial cells in expression of pro-inflammation.
Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) may function in both the promotion and resolution of inflammation.
However, under the abnormal condition such as persistent tissue damage, the hormone may contribute to the up-regulation of the pro-inflammatory cytokines.
Taking together, alfalfa no doubt has processed anti-inflammatory effects through inhibited free radicals, proinflammatory cytokines and hormone that involve the development of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
