Scientists may have found a natural whole herb for the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOs) with no side effects some studies suggested.
The polycystic ovarian syndrome is an endocrinologic disease caused by undeveloped follicles clumping on the ovaries that interferes with the function of the normal ovaries
PCOs induced enlarged ovaries can facilitate the onset of certain complications, including hormone imbalance( excessive androgen), male pattern hair development, acne, irregular period or absence of period, weight gain and infertility.
According to the statistic, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOs) is a health condition, affecting 1 in 10 women of childbearing age. in the Western world.
The exact causes of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOs) are unknown, However, according to epidemiological studies, high levels of androgens. and insulin is the 2 characteristics of women with the syndrome.
Women who have the onset of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOs) also experience additional health problems, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol, sleep problem and psychological symptoms of depression and anxiety.
According to the study by Desai BN, Maharjan RH, Nampoothiri LP. almost 70% of PCOS women have abnormal serum lipid levels (dyslipidemia) and 50% of these women are obese.
Several classes of pharmacological agents have been used to manage dyslipidemia. However, studies have shown adverse effects associated with these drugs.
Compared to other risk factors, genetic preposition has been under intensified studies by many scientists. Dr. N Prapas, the lead author in the study "Genetics of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome" said, "Polycystic ovary syndrome has been proven to be a familial condition....the role of genetic factors in PCOS is strongly supported" and
" Some genes (such as Gly972Arg, CAPN10) have shown altered expression suggesting that the genetic abnormality in PCOS affects signal transduction pathways controlling steroidogenesis, steroid hormones action, gonadotrophin action and regulation, insulin action and secretion, energy homeostasis, chronic inflammation, and others".
Aloe Vera is species of succulent plant in the genus Aloe, belonging to the Family Xanthorrhoeaceae, native to Sudan.
The plant has become very popular for commercial cultivation due to its health benefits.
Aloe vera has been used in herbal medicine in treating many kinds of disease, including wound, burn healing, minor skin infections, sebaceous cysts, diabetes, and elevated of cholesterol, etc.
The herb also one of many popular herbs studied in scientific ways with some conflicting results.
The ten main areas of chemical constituents of Aloe vera include amino acids, anthraquinones, enzymes, minerals, vitamins, lignins, monosaccharide, polysaccharides, salicylic acid, saponins, and sterols.
They all work together in a synergistic way to create healing and health-giving benefits, according to Gertrude Baldwin in the article of THE BENEFITS OF THE USE OF ALOE VERA IN HERBAL PREPARATIONS.
In the finding a natural ingredient or whole food for the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOs) with no side effects, researchers examine the effects of Aloe vera in Charles Foster female rats induced-PCOs PCOS by oral administration of non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor letrozole (0.5 mg/kg body weight, 21 days).
All rats before injection of the Aloe vera expressed a significant increase of hyperglycemia and 90% rats also showed elevated plasma triglycerides, elevated LDL cholesterol levels, and lowered plasma HDL cholesterol levels, an indication of a dyslipidemic profile.
PCOS positive rats with an aberrant lipid profile were selected to the treatment with AVG formulation (1 ml (10 mg)/day, 30 days) administered orally.
Infection of AVG in PCOS rats exhibited a significant reduction in plasma triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels, with an increase in HDL cholesterol.
The gel treatment also completely restore the abnormal estrous cyclicity, glucose intolerance, and lipid metabolizing enzyme activities.
These results firmly suggested AVG which contains a high amount of phyto components processes an anti-hyperlipidemic effect not only on PCOS but also the associated metabolic complication: dyslipidemia.
Continuously, in the study included five-month-old Charles Foster female rats were orally fed with letrozole, a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor, to induce PCOS, researchers once again confirmed that
* Aloe vera gel formulation (1 ml dose daily for 45 days) restores their estrus cyclicity, glucose sensitivity, and steroidogenic activity.
* Co-treatment of the inductive agent (letrozole) with the Aloe vera gel prevented the development of the PCO phenotype caused by the injection of the inductive agent (letrozole).
Dr.Maharjan R, the lead author at the final day of the experiment said, " Aloe vera gel formulation exerts a protective effect in against the PCOS phenotype by restoring the ovarian steroid status, and altering key steroidogenic activity".
Taken altogether, Aloe Vera may be considered a functional food for the prevention and treatment of
polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOs) without inducing any side effects,
However, oral administration in high amounts of Aloe vera should only be prescribed by the experts in the related field

Herbal Chamomile, The Best Functional Herb for the Prevention and Treatment of Insomnia
Scientists may have found a herbal medicine to treat insomnia with no side effects, according to the result of some studies.
Insomnia is a sign and symptom of sleep disorder in which a person has difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep or sleep of poor quality.
According to the statistic provided by the Sleep Education, insomnia affects millions of people in the US, 30 to 35% have brief symptoms of insomnia, 15 to 20% have a short-term insomnia disorder, which lasts less than three months and 10% have a chronic insomnia disorder, which occurs at least three times per week for at least three months.
And, one in three people suffers from some form of insomnia during their lifetime and women suffer from insomnia more often than men.
There is no single cause of insomnia. Researchers suggested that psychiatric and medical conditions, such as stress and anxiety and chronic illness such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, musculoskeletal disorders, kidney disease, unhealthy sleep habits and long-term use of substances, are associated to some prevalent risk factors of the onset of insomnia.
In other words, anything that causes the disruption of the brain sleep-awake cycle or the brain function to turn on and off the sleep-wake cycle is the risk factor to the syndrome onset.
Long-term use of certain medication can also induce insomnia. The National Jewish Health suggested
antidepressants such as Prozac® and Zoloft, Dopamine agonists and anticonvulsants are some medications which can cause insomnia.
If you are taking one of these medicines and have a sleep problem, please make sure you discuss the problem with your doctors.
Long-term and untreated insomnia may increase the risk of the complication of anxiety, depression and heart failure and daytime trouble concentrating, and mood disturbances
Chamomile is also known as camomile, the common name of many species daisy-like plants in the family Asteraceae.
The herb has been used in traditional medicine as antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory constituents and to treat menstrual cramps and sleep disorders, reduce cramping and spastic pain in the bowels, relieve excessive gas and bloating in the intestine, etc.
Chamomile is one of the most popular herbs used for sleep disorders in herbal medicine. According to the Dr. Srivastava JK and research team at the Case Western Reserve University, many different preparations of the herb have been developed, the most popular of which is in the form of herbal tea consumed more than one million cups per day.
In the reaffirming the effect of chamomile used in traditional medicine for the treatment of insomnia, researchers at the University of Michigan launched an investigation to examine the preliminary efficacy and safety of chamomile for improving subjective sleep and daytime symptoms in patients with chronic insomnia.
The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot trial included 34 patients aged 18-65 years with DSM-IV primary insomnia for ≥ 6-months.
Patients were randomized to 270 mg of chamomile twice daily or placebo for 28-days.
There were no significant differences between groups in changes in sleep diary measures, including total sleep time (TST), sleep efficiency, sleep latency, wake after sleep onset (WASO), sleep quality, and a number of awakenings.
Participants received the 270 mg chamomile show modest advantage on daytime functioning compared to placebo.
Intake of chamomile also exerted a moderate effect in sleep latency, nighttime awakenings, and Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS).
There were no differences in adverse events reported by the chamomile group compared to placebo.
Dr. Zick SM after taking the final assessment said, "Chamomile could provide modest benefits of daytime functioning and mixed benefits on sleep diary measures relative to placebo in adults with chronic primary insomnia".
DR. Wheatley D, in the classification of the medicinal plants for insomnia, once again suggested that chamomile improves the sleep quality of patients with insomnia may be attributed to the herbal medicine anxiolytic or sedative properties.
Taken altogether, chamomile may be considered a functional herb for the prevention and treatment of insomnia.

Banana, the Natural Antibiotic and Anti Oxidative Stress Functional Food
Banana may have a potential and substantial effect on balancing the levels of free radicals and antioxidants in the body, according to the studies.
Oxidative stress is a condition of imbalance of the ration of free radicals and antioxidant enzymes produced by the body, leading to the damage of cell, protein, and alternation of cell DNA.
The causes of oxidative are either associated with overexpression of free radicals and depressed the host antioxidant enzymes.
Free radicals are highly reactive molecules with the unpaired electron on the outer ring of the atom. In order for them to become balanced, they must donate or steal an electron from the stable molecules, leading to the chain of reaction which can not be stopped until the electrons on the outer ring are paired or inhibited by antioxidants.
This chain of domino's effect is known as oxidation.
Antioxidants are the stable molecules which inhibit oxidation.
There are 2 types of antioxidant in the human body. The antioxidants are produced by the host and antioxidant come from dietary sources.
Every day, our body is bombarded by the invasion of free radical. Believe or not, substances include fried foods, alcohol, tobacco smoke, pesticides, air pollutants, can produce harmful free radicals to our body.
Epidemiological studies agreed that oxidative stress is involved in several age-related conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer.
Dr. Seungyoun Jung,, the lead scientists in the evaluation of a healthy diet pattern and the risk of oxidative stress suggested, "Foods rich in healthy diets—characterized by a high intake of fruit, vegetables, and whole grains as well as a low intake of saturated fat—are aggregate sources of bioactive compounds. These compounds work as components in antioxidant systems, such as superoxide dismutases or glutathione peroxidase, and may break free radical chain reactions."
These results strongly indicated a healthy diet can form a significant part in reducing the risk of diseases associated with oxidative stress.
Banana is the common name of a genus of tropical herbaceous plants. It can grow from 3 to 9 m and belongs to the family of the lily and the orchid.
On the finding a natural antioxidant ingredient or whole food for the prevention and treatment of the diseases associated with overexpression of free radical, researchers compared the antioxidant properties of banana (Musa paradisiaca) and Sapodilla/Chikoo (Manilkara zapota) peel extracts in chicken patties.
The chicken patties were assigned to 4 treatments viz., I. Control (meat + 2% salt), II.BHT (meat + 2% salt + 0.1% BHT), III. BPE (meat + 2% salt + 2% banana peel extract) and IV. SPE (meat + 2% salt + 2% sapodilla/chikoo peel extract).
By comparing the changes in color and lipid oxidation during 8 days refrigerated storage (4 ± °C) in 4 groups, researchers showed that
* The average phenolic content was 550.2 and 550.8 mg gallic acid equivalent per 10 g peel in BPE and SPE respectively.
* Free radical scavenging activity was 66.9 and 67.8% in BPE and SPE respectively.
* Banana peel extract had significantly (P < 0.05) higher reducing activity (1.6) as compared to sapodilla peel extract (0.91).
* Observation on lipid oxidation showed a significantly (P < 0.05) higher TBARS values used for the determination of oxidative stress in control than other three treatments.
* The increase in TBARS from the initial day of storage to last day of storage was highest in control (514.3%)compared to BHT (387.7%), BPE (370.6%) and SPE (383.7%). Both synthetic antioxidants and natural extracts significantly decreased the TBARS.
These results clearly suggested that the water extracts obtained from banana and sapodilla peel process natural antioxidants in poultry meat and meat products.
Furthermore, in examining the antioxidant activity of different Musa sp. leave extracts of hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol, researchers found that
* All the Musa sp. extracts showed moderate antibacterial activities expect Musa paradisiaca with the inhibition zone ranging from 8.0 to 18.6 mm.
* Among four species ethyl acetate extracts of Musa paradisiaca showed the highest activity against tested pathogens particularly E. coli, P. aeruginosa, and Citrobacter sp.
* The minimum inhibitory concentrations were within the value of 15.63- 250 µg/mL and minimum bactericidal concentrations were ranging from 31.25- 250 µg/mL.
* Antioxidant activity of Musa acuminate exhibited maximum activity among other three Musa species.
Taken altogether, banana may be considered a functional remedy for the prevention and treatment of bacterial infections and diseases associated with oxidative stress.

Black beans May Process Anti Gastric Cancer Potency, Scientists Find
Scientists may have found a legume which processes a potential in reducing the risk and treatment of gastric/ stomach cancer.
Gastric cancer is a medical condition caused by irregular cells growth in the stomach.
Most cases of gastric cancer start by the DNA alternation in the cells on the surface of the inner lining of the stomach. The stage of gastric cancer is depended to how far the cancer cells have penetrated in the deeper tissue of the stomach.
At the advanced stage, invasive cancer can leave the stomach and travel a distance away to infect other healthy tissue and organs.
Most people with primary cancer have an increased risk of secondary cancers of the thyroid and small intestine.
Gastric cancer affects 2.1% of male cancer patients and 1.3% of female cancer patients in Canada.
In the later stages, stomach cancer has a 5-year survival rate of only 23%, meaning that 77% of stomach cancer patients die within 5 years of diagnosis.
The most common causable risk factor of gastric cancer is infection with a common bacteria, H. pylori, which were found to cause ulcers and Inflammatory gastritis,.
Some researchers suggested that long-term untreated pernicious anemia and growth of polyps are also associated with the increased risk of gastric cancer.
In the concerns of a poor diet in the risk of gastric cancer, Dr. Stojanovic J, the lead author at the joint study lead by the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore launched an investigation to examine the effects of Mediterranean diet in gastric cancer.
By comparing the different type of diet, Mediterranean diet consists of high consumption of fruit, vegetables, cereals, legumes, nuts, seeds, fish, other seafood, and olive oil lowers the risk of gastric cancer.
The risk gastric cancer increased substantially in participants who follow the Western diet rich in saturated and trans fat, red meat and processed foods.
Black bean is a Small roughly ovoid legume with glossy black shells, genus Phaseolus, belongs to the family Fabaceae and can be bought in most grocery stores all around the year in dried and canned forms.
It is believed that black bean was first domesticated growth in South America.
The chemicals constituents of black bean include anthocyanin, (-)-epicatechin, delphinidin, petunidin, flavonols, and malvidin.
Scientists at the Gyeongsang National University School of Medicine in the findings a natural ingredient for the prevention and treatment of gastric cancer conducted an experiment to evaluate the effect black bean in risk of infection associated to the onset of gastritis, peptic ulcers, and gastric cancer.
Exposed gastric mucosa to H. pylori, showed a significant increase of gastric mucosal inflammatory cytokine interleukin-8 (Il-8) and reactive oxygen species.
In the infected gastric mucosa, application cation of Anthocyanins exerted a strong anti-oxidative, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties by decreasing H. pylori-induced ROS enhancement.
Furthermore, Anthocyanins protected the gastric cells by inhibiting phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinases, which plays an important role involved in directing cellular responses to a diverse array of stimuli, translocation of nuclear factor-kappa B which promotes cell division and survival and Iκβα which blocks the apoptosis in response to death signals activated by proinflammatory cytokines degradation.
Moreover, Anthocyanins also inhibited H. pylori-induced inducible nitric oxide synthases in the promotion of the expression of proinflammation and cyclooxygenase-2 mRNA expression in the alternation of DNA of gastric cells.
The inflammatory IL-8 expression was also found to decrease by 48% after Anthocyanins injection.
In the examine the chemopreventive effects of black soybean extract against human AGS gastric cancer cells, researchers showed that
* The black soybean extract inhibited AGS cell growth in a dose-dependent manner with an IC(50) of 3.69 mg/mL as measured by the MTT assay.
* black soybean extract dose-dependently induced apoptosis of AGS cells.
Additional differentiation found that the effects of black soybean extract in inducing apoptosis were attributed to the activation of proteins associated with programming cell deaths.
The findings suggested black beans could be used as an apoptosis inducer in AGS cells and a natural chemopreventive agent in the treatment of human gastric cancer.
However, further data collection large example size and multi-centers studies performed with human consumption of the whole food or its bioactive compounds during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of black bean anti-gastric cancer possibilities.

Celery, for the Prevention and Treatment of Liver Disease
Scientists may have found a whole food for the prevention and treatment of liver disease without inducing any side effects, according to some studies.
Liver disease is a medical and chronic condition characterized by impeding the function of the liver.
There is no single cause of liver disease. However, certain conditions such as hepatitis virus, liver scars, and long-term intake of certain medication such as Vicodin, Norco, and statins, are associated with the onset of the disease.
The liver, one of the main organ in the human plays a critical role in the metabolism of protein such as changing amino acids in foods so that they can be absorbed to produce energy, or make carbohydrates or fats, blood clotting to cholesterol, glucose, and iron metabolism.
Epidemiological studies suggested that the most common cause of liver disease in the Western world may result from excessive alcohol drinking.
According to the statistic provided by Alcohol consumption, by Hannah Ritchie and Max Roser, the US adult drink averaging around 8 to 9 liters per year.
And, the article by Linda Carroll, "(Researchers found that between 1999 and 2016, annual deaths due to cirrhosis increased by 65 percent, from 20,661 to 34,174" and "Overall, deaths due to liver cancer more than doubled, increasing from 5,112 to 11,073 annually".
These results clearly support the increased alcohol drinking in the US adults is a culprit which contribute to the risk and onset of liver disease.
Sadly to find out that over nearly a decade, deaths from liver disease have been rising rapidly in the U.S., according to the article.
Celery is a species of Apium graveolens, belongings to the family Apiaceae. It is cultivated all around the globe as a vegetable. Celery can grow to 1/2 m tall with stalks (leaf on the top) arranging in a conical shape joined at a common base.
In the concern of acetaminophen (APAP)-induced liver damage, one of the most common problems among the population, researchers at the Rajalakshmi Engineering College examined the hepatoprotective effect of celery leaves on APAP-induced toxicity in a freshwater fish.
The study included fish divided into four experimental groups of 6 fish each. Group 1 served as control. Group 2 fish were exposed to APAP (500 mg/kg) for 24 h. Groups 3 and 4 fish were exposed to APAP + celery leaf powder (CE) (500 mg/kg) and CE for 24 h, respectively.
Fish treated with APAP showed significant liver damage through the observation of the elevated levels of both circulating and tissue hepatotoxic markers (AST, ALT, and ALP), reduced hepatic glycogen and lipid contents (TG and cholesterol), reduced hepatic ions (Na(+), K(+) and Ca(2+)) and abnormal liver histology.
APAP treatment group also exerted an increased lipid peroxidation marker (TBARS, LHP, and PCO), an indication of oxidative stress and reduced levels of antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT, GPx, and GST) and non-enzymatic (GSH) antioxidants.
Furthermore, cellular thiol levels (T-SH, P-SH, and NP-SH)were also reduced in the APAP treatment group, an indication of reduction-oxidation (redox) state against ROS.
These abnormalities associated with APAP exposure were reversed by the treatment with CE.
Additional differentiation suggested that celery hepatoprotective effect was attributed to the presence of flavonoids such as rutein, quercetin, and luteolin.
Interestingly, the Panjab University in the study to reconfirm the traditional use of celery for the treatment of liver ailment, examine the celery antihepatotoxic effect of methanolic extracts of the seeds on rat liver damage induced by a single dose of paracetamol (3 g/kg p.o.) or thioacetamide (100 mg/kg, s.c.).
Application of the methanolic extract of the seeds demonstrated liver protective effect by restoring liver damage caused by the injection of paracetamol (3 g/kg p.o.) or thioacetamide (100 mg/kg, s.c.), according to the by monitoring several liver function tests.
In support of the above results, the Helwan University, in the study of the composition of Celery, chicory leaves, and barley grains, suggested that a positive effects in decreasing the elevation of liver enzymes (aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and alkaline phosphatase) and blood lipids in rat cholesterol-enriched diet.
Taken altogether, celery may be considered a functional food for the prevention and treatment of liver disease with side effects.

Ginger, The Anti Gastrointestinal Disorder Functional Pungent Spice
Scientists may have found a kitchen pungent spice for the treatment of the gastrointestinal disorder, some studies suggested.
Gastrointestinal diseases are the conditions of the digestive system associated with the disorders involving the gastrointestinal tract, including esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and rectum.
The digestive system includes gastrointestinal tract (GI), liver, pancreas, and gallbladder with a healthy function of breaking down food into nutrients and fluids for the body need.
There are many different types of gastrointestinal diseases, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn's disease, celiac disease, and lactose intolerance.
There are many causes of gastrointestinal disorders, such as bacterial and viral infection, inflammation, poor circulation to the intestines, muscle dysfunction, gallstones, stress, particularly long-term use of anti-inflammatory drugs.
Conventional medicine used for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders are depending on the disease that triggers the disorder.such as antibiotics for bacterial infection, painkillers for stomach pain.
Sherry Coleman Collins, MS, RDN, LD in the article, Natural Remedies for Digestive Disorders outlined the percentage of the use of natural remedies for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, and how much money that the American spend a year in purchasing these remedy.
Believe it or not, it is equivalent to about one-third of out-of-pocket dollars spent on prescription drugs.
The dietitian wrote, " more clients and patients are looking for ways to treat their digestive disorders with natural medicines sold over the counter. According to a 2007 National Institutes of Health-funded survey on the use of complementary and alternative medicines in the United States, roughly 38% of adults use natural remedies, such as diet-based therapies (eg, gluten-free diets) and herbs, among others" and
"Also in 2007, it was estimated that nearly $34 billion was spent on complementary and alternative medicines, including about $15 billion on “nonvitamin, nonmineral, natural products:.
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) or ginger root, the second superfood used for thousands of years by mankind, is the genus Zingiber, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to Tamil.
The pungent spice has been used in traditional and Chinese medicine to treat dyspepsia, gastroparesis, constipation, edema, difficult urination, colic, etc.
With an aim to reconfirm the traditional use of ginger against various gastric ailments, researchers at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences conducted an experiment to review the ginger effect in the prevention of antituberculosis-induced gastrointestinal adverse reactions.
A randomized pilot clinical trial included 60 patients who were placed into ginger and placebo groups (30 patients in each group) received either 500 mg ginger (Zintoma)(®) or placebo one-half hour before each daily dose of antituberculosis drugs for 4 weeks.
After examining the Patients' gastrointestinal complaints (nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, and abdominal pain) and antituberculosis drug-induced hepatotoxicity were recorded during the study period, researchers showed that application ginger to the 48 (80%) patients experienced nausea caused by antituberculosis drug-induced gastrointestinal adverse reactions, reduced gastrointestinal disorders by 56% compared to 43% in the placebo.
Patients in the ginger group experienced less, but not statistically significant, antituberculosis drug-induced hepatotoxicity than the placebo group (16.7% vs 36.7%, respectively, p = 0.07).
Dr. Emrani Z, the lead author in the final report wrote, "ginger may be a potential option for prevention of antituberculosis drug-induced gastrointestinal adverse reactions including hepatotoxicity".
Additionally, in the concern of the use of aspirin is its side effect to cause ulceration and bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, a joint study led by the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University was conducted to examine the ginger effect in reducing the risk of gastrointestinal disorder caused by injection of low dose aspirin.
Injection of ginger exerted a strong activity in the ameliorated ASA-induced gastric ulceration.
[6]-gingerol aspirinate (GAS), the combination of ginger bioactive compound [6[-gingerol and aspirin demonstrated anti-cancer properties in vitro and superior gastroprotective effects in mice.
The combination (GAS) was also able to survive stomach acid and decomposed in intestinal linings or after absorption to simultaneously release ASA and [6]-gingerol.
GAS inactivates both COX-1 and COX-2 equally to reduce symptoms of inflammation and pain caused by ASA-induced gastric ulceration.
The findings suggested that ginger processes gastroprotective effects and GAS can be a therapeutic equivalent for ASA in inflammatory and proliferative diseases without the deleterious effects on stomach mucosa.
Taken altogether, ginger with abundant gingerols may be considered a functional food for the prevention and adjunct therapy for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorder with no side effects.

Herbal Chamomile Kills Cancer Cells Before They Can Spread
Scientists may have found a herbal plant which processes a strong potential for the treatment of cancer without inducing any side effects, some studies suggested.
Cancers are a class of diseases associated with the irregular and disorder cell growth in the tissue or organs in the body due to the alternation of cell DNA.
Most cases of cancer start in the cells on the surface of the inner lining of the tissue and organ tissue. However, as the cancer proliferation, they can penetrate into the deeper layers of the tissue or organ.
At the advanced stage, the primary cancer site can travel a distance away from the primary site to infect other healthy tissue and organ through fluids and blood circulation.
The exact causes of cancer are unknown. According to the epidemiological studies, the most common risk factors associated with the early onset of the diseases are smoking and tobacco, diet, physical inactivity, long-term exposure to the.sun and radiation and a certain type of virus and bacteria.
Out of all the risk factors that increase the cancer risk, physical activity is one of the factors which has not been under intensified study by the science community.
In the study to examine the accumulate on the benefits of physical activity in relation to cancer risk, progression, and mortality, researchers suggested
* Sedentary behavior may independently affect cancer risk
* The associations with physical activity, including cancer risk factors existed for precancerous lesions.
Although researchers know that physical activity is an important issue associated with the onset of cancer, they do not know the subgroup risk defined by body size, age or sex and tumors subgroups defined by the organ location, receptor status, or molecular subtype.
In the reaffirming the traditional use of chamomile for the treatment of chronic ailments, researchers examine the anticancer properties of aqueous and methanolic extracts of chamomile against various human cancer cell lines.
Chamomile extracts a significant decrease in cell viability in various human cancer cell lines without inducing herm to the healthy cells.
Injection of the herbal extract causes the apoptosis of cancer cells, causing herm to the normal cells.
The anti cancers effect of chamomile extract was attributed to the bioactive compound apigenin 7-O-glucoside, the major constituent of chamomile; some minor glycoside components.
These results reconfirm the use of chamomile extract in the treatment of cancers in traditional medicine.
Furthermore, the study to compare the anticancer activity of phenolic profile of six herbal infusions namely Cretan marjoram, pink savory, oregano, mountain tea, pennyroyal and chamomile by LCDAD-MS and by GC-MS, suggested
* All herbal infusions exhibit antiradical activity correlated positively with total phenolic content
* All infusions exhibit the potential to inhibit cell proliferation and to reduce IL-8 levels in HT29 colon and PC3 prostate cancer cells.
* The efficacy of all herbal medicines in inhibition of cancer cell line was attributed to the activation of the proteins associated with the cell death programming and production of the inflammatory cytokine.
Interestingly, in the comparison the cancer property of 20 essential oil from herbal plants, Dr. Mitoshi M, the lead scientists indicated, EOs from the herbal plants showed patterns of inhibition of DNA replicative property, similar to their cancer cell growth inhibitory activity, and their inhibitory activity and EOs from chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.) showed significant effects on both cancer cell growth and mast cell degranulation.
Taken altogether, chamomile extract, essential oil may be used with no side effects for the prevention and combined with the primary medicine for the treatment of cancers.
