Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in enhanced gastrointestinal function in food absorption, some scientists suggested.
According to the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, native catechins found in green tea were not absorbed by the digestive system after intake. The polyphenol was accumulated in the intestinal lumen inside space of a tubular structure where they exhibited significant activity in ameliorated cellular glucose and cholesterol uptake, thus reducing risk in overexpression of fasting glucose and lipid accumulation entering the bloodstream in the induction of syndromes of abnormally high blood sugar and cholesterol.
The pervaded catechins found approximately, 2-15% in the intestinal levels significantly bind to 37% to plasma HDLs through inhibiting the key enzymes involved in lipid biosynthesis and reduced intestinal lipid absorption, thus improving blood lipid profile.action of cholesterol metabolism.
Further analysis of the unstable condition of polyphenols in the intestinal environment, also found that transition from the gastric phase to the intestinal phase of green tea extract shows a 50% decrease in the antioxidant activity due to the degradation of polyphenols but the deceased extract still exert a strong effect in the gastrointestinal environment.
However, intake of whole food milk and cheese in the definition of dairy matrices displayed a significant improvement of polyphenol stability in the intestinal phase and increase of the antioxidant activity by 29% (cheese) to 42% (milk) in compared to nongreen tea injection control.
Additionally, administration of green tea also demonstrated a strong activity in decreased expression of stomach secretes pepsinogen, in breaking down milk and cheese protein and fat intake in degraded into their component polypeptide or amino acid and glycerol and fatty acids, respectively in the gastric phase but had no effect on the intestinal phase, thus reducing glucose and fat being absorbed and presented in the bloodstream.
The evidence showed that green tea polyphenols intake together with dairy products improved antioxidant activity and enhanced the integrity of polyphenols during digestion.
Interestingly, in the evaluated rats fed with selenium-containing green tea (Se-GTE, 1.44 mg selenium/kg dry leaves) and China green tea(CH-GTE, 0.13 mg selenium/kg leaves) and China green tea(CH-GTE) effect in the intestinal micro bacterial activity researchers indicated that oral administration of rat group fed with Se-GTE extract for 6 days exerted a significant increase in caecal counts of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria while significantly reducing the caecal counts of Bacteroides and clostridial bacteria in compared to CH-GTE rat group in slight but not significant increase in the numbers of caecal lactobacilli and bifidobacteria but decreased significantly the numbers of Bacteroides (p < 0.05) and clostridia.
Moreover, rats fed with CH-GTE and Se-GTE showed a 17.2% and 21.3% reduction in the activity of the bacterial enzyme β-glucuronidase, which has been found in contribution of biliary sludge and stone formation and increased risk for colorectal cancer, respectively.
More promisingly, treatment of both CH-GTE and Se-GTE also resulted in 19% and 25.5% increments in the activity of β-glucosidase in reduced beta-D-glucosides and oligosaccharides in released glucose, respectively
Taken together, green tea with abundantly major bioactive polyphenols may be considered a functional food in improved gastrointestinal function but reduced absorption of glucose and lipid in the induction of abnormal high fasting blood sugar and cholesterol levels through binding to fat and protein in the gastric phase of digestion.

Whole Food Tomato, the Anti-Insulin Resistance Natural Remedy
Insulin resistance is a condition in which cells that convert glucose to energy in the muscles, body fat, intestine, and liver ignore the signal o the hormone insulin signaling.
In other words, patients with insulin resistance are hyperglycemic. The syndrome is a hallmark of type 2 diabetes.
According to statistics, over 100 million Americans are living with insulin resistance. Approximately 1 in 3, including half of those age 60 and older have a silent blood sugar problem known as insulin resistance.
There are no single causes of insulin resistance, Epidemiologically, aging, ethnicity, overweight or obese, too much belly fat, physical inactivity, smoking and certain medical conditions such as Cushing’s disease or polycystic ovary disease are some of the prevalent factors that induce the risk of the condition.
However, most people with some of the aforementioned risk factors have never developed insulin resistance.
Most common symptoms of patients with insulin resistance are tiredness, hunger and difficulty concentrating.
If you have experienced the above symptoms persistently, you may have insulin resistance, please make sure that you check with your doctor to rule out the possibility.
Out of many factors that increase the risk of insulin resistance, some researchers suggested the promotion of a high-fat diet over the past few decades may have a strong and negative impact on the rise of insulin resistance in the US.
Dr. Chad R. Hancock, the lead scientist wrote, "feeding rats high-fat diets that cause muscle insulin resistance results in a concomitant gradual increase in muscle mitochondria"
Tomato is red, edible fruit, genus Solanum, belonging to family Solanaceae, native to South America. Because of its health benefits, the tomato is grown worldwide for the commercial purpose
and often in the greenhouse.
On findings a healthy food for the controlling high blood glucose, researchers examined the effect of dry tomato peel (DTP) on insulin resistance, and atherogenic dyslipidemia induced by a high-saturated-fat (HSF) diet on an animal model for 12 weeks.
The study included 40 selected BALB/c male mice (n=40) (8 weeks old, weighing 22.2±1.0 g) divided into four treatment groups (10 mice/group): (a) high-fat control diet (HF Ctrl), which contains sunflower oil as a sole source of fat; (b) HSF/high-cholesterol (HC) diet; (c) HSF/HC diet supplemented with 9% DTP and (d) HSF/HC diet supplemented with 17% DTP.
According to the results from the tested assays, supplementation with DTP not only increased the plasma lycopene concentration and reduced the development of indicators of metabolic syndrome, particularly in insulin resistance.
However, hepatic steatosis and inflammation caused by the injection of high-fat diet mice were not reversed with DTP supplementation.
In other words, DTP improved the plasma concentration of lycopene by normalizing the levels of blood glucose in tested mice through its anti-insulin resistance activity.
Dr. Zidani S, the lead scientist said, "Among mice fed the HSF/HC diet, DTP supplementation appears to have a beneficial effect on insulin resistance, which confirms the antiatherogenic effect of DTP".
In vivo, also in high-fat diet (HF)-induced obese mice, tomato vinegar beverage (TVB) at 14 mL kg(-1) body weight for 6 weeks not only inhibited the symptoms associated with fat accumulated in the liver but also promoted glucose tolerance, hyperinsulinemia, and HOMA-IR levels.
Levels of antioxidants in the tested also significantly improved by TVB. TVB inhibited oxidative stress by significantly increased glucokinase activity and decreased glucose-6-phosphatase activity in the liver,
More precisely, TVB enhanced glucose metabolism in obese mice.against the onset of insulin resistance.
Based on the findings, researchers wrote, "These results suggest that TVB prevents visceral obesity and insulin resistance via AMPK/PPARα-mediated fatty acid and glucose oxidation (Antioxidant property(TVB)".
Taken altogether, tomato may be considered a dietary supplements for the prevention and treatment of insulin resistance, pending to large sample size and multicenter human study.

Turmeric Protects Diabetics Against Renal Inflammation that Causes Diabetic Nephropathy (Dn)
Diabetic renal inflammation is a condition associated with inflammation in the development of diabetic nephropathy.
Diabetic nephropathy (Dn) is a chronic kidney disease in diabetics, a leading cause of end-stage renal failure.
Epidemiologically, diabetic nephropathy is also associated with cardiovascular disease and increases mortality of diabetic patients.
Metabolic and hemodynamic alterations, oxidative stress, and activation of the renin-angiotensin system are some of the risk factors that have been found in patients with Dn.
Inflammation is a natural defense of the immune system that protects the body against the insult from the foreign invasion.
Acute inflammation occurs quickly or within the hours and lasts a few days or weeks and the damage tissues are healed itself after all pathogens are killed off.
However, if the immune system can not completely destroy all invaders in the acute phase of infection, it will compromise, leading to chronic low-grade inflammation, a major cause of cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and diabetes.
In diabetes, the presence of chronic low-grade inflammation activated by the innate immune system induced production of pro-Inflammatory cytokines, mainly IL-1, IL-6, and IL-18, as well as TNF-α, are some of the major factors that involved in the development and progression of diabetic nephropathy.
Dr. Juan F. Navarro-González, the lead scientist in the examined the effect of inflammatory cytokines in the risk of Dn wrote, "When considering the role of cytokines in pathophysiological processes underlying disease, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the activities of these molecules are very complex, as reflected by important features, including their pleiotropic actions—and thus a cytokine may trigger several different cellular responses depending on diverse factors, such as cell type, timing, and context".
And, "Cytokines share receptor subunits; act synergistically in many contexts, and, therefore, the association of two cytokines can markedly amplify their effects; cytokines stimulate the cells that produce them, or adjacent cells, or even can intervene through direct cell-cell interaction; and, finally, cytokines induce the expression of other cytokines and cytokine receptors".
In other words, diabetic renal inflammation is the main culprit that causes the development of Dn.
Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.
The herb has been used in traditional medicine as anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and for the treatment of flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.
With an aim to find a potential compound for the treatment of renal inflammation, researchers examined the effect of Curcumolide, a novel sesquiterpenoid isolated from Curcuma wenyujin for the control of diabetic retinopathy.
According to the experiment results, treatment with curcumolide alleviated retinal inflammatory activities both in vitro and in vivo in an STZ-induced diabetic rat model and in TNF-α-stimulated HUVECs.
Furthermore, curcumolide alleviated retinal vascular permeability by blocking the quality of a material or membrane that causes it to allow liquids or gases to pass through it, and leukostasis that causes elevated blast cell count and symptoms of decreased tissue perfusion in the retinas.
Moreover, curcumolide attenuated the overexpression of TNF-α and ICAM-1associaed with the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in diabetic retinas through activation of NF-κB is a protein complex and p38 MAPK.
Based on the findings, researchers wrote, "These data suggest potential treatment strategies against diabetic retinopathy, particularly in the early stages of the disease".
Taken altogether, turmeric processed abundantly bioactive compound curcumolide may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of renal inflammation, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of turmeric in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Cranberry, the Potential Cure of Urinary Tract Infections In Women, PubMed Medical Literature Suggested
Urinary incontinence, a medical, psychological, social, economic, and hygienic problem, is a condition of loss of the bladder to control that can lead to mild or severe form of involuntary leakage of urine.
Involuntary urine leakage or urinary incontinence is frequent among elderly women, adult women, even among adolescent women.
According to the statistics provided by the Phoenix Physical Therapy, approximately 25 million adult Americans are living with some form of urinary incontinence in which 75-80% are women.
Believe it or not, about 17% of women and 16% men over 18 years old have overactive bladder(OAB) and an estimated 12.2 million adults have urge incontinence.
All types of urinary incontinence have been found to have a negative impact on the quality of life and daily activity.
Epidemiologically, symptoms of urinary incontinence depending on the types of conditions, including
* Stress incontinence
Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) has a significant impact on the quality of life for many women with symptoms of leakage of urine during physical activity, such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, exercising, due to weakening the sphincter pelvic muscles, supporting the bladder and urethra.
* Urge incontinence
Urge incontinence, also known as overactive bladder, is a condition of involuntary loss of urine and intense urge to urine due to bladder spasms or contractions with no apparent reasons.
Urge incontinence is also called overactive bladder.
* Overflow incontinence
Overflow incontinence is a condition of bladder inability to empty completely and the normal flow of urine is blocked that can lead to constantly urine dribbling.
* Mixed incontinence
Mixed incontinence is a condition of a combination of stress incontinence and urgency incontinence.
* Functional incontinence
Functional incontinence is a condition characterized by functioning difficulty that prevent one from urine normally as a result of mental or physical disabilities.
* Total incontinence
Total incontinence is a condition of a total loss of urine control due to certain conditions such as bladder fistula, injury to the urethra, and ectopic ureter.
Cranberry is an evergreen dwarf shrub, genus Vaccinium, belongings to the family Ericaceae, native to Northern America and Southern Asia. Because of its health benefits, cranberry has been cultivated in some parts of the world for commercial profit.
On finding a potential compound for the treatment of urinary tract infection, researchers examined the effect of the efficacy of a concentrated cranberry liquid blend, UTI-STAT with Proantinox, in female patients with a history of recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTIs).
The study included the oral administration of 15, 30, 45, 60, and 75 mL daily for 12 weeks to 28 women with a history of rUTIs <6 months. Only 23 women completed the study
According to the experimental results,
* The maximally tolerated dose of UTI-STAT was 75 mL/d, compared to the recommended dose of 60 mL/d.
* Only 2 (9.1%) out of 23 women report an rUTI, a markedly better rate than the historical data.
* Furthermore, at 12 weeks, the reduction in worry about rUTIs and increased QOL was a significant increase in the tested subjects measured by the Medical Outcomes Study short-form 36-item questionnaire.
* Moreover, the improvement of QOL was also confirmed by the lower American Urological Association Symptom Index.
* The cranberry liquid blend used in the study showed a good safety profile and tolerability in both pre- and postmenopausal women with a history of rUTIs.
Based on the findings, researchers said, "The secondary endpoints demonstrated its effectiveness in reducing the incidence of rUTI and increasing QOL".
Taken altogether, cranberry liquid blend, UTI-STAT with Proantinox, may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of UTIs and rUTIs, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Habitual Green Tea in Ameliorated Risk of Stroke
Green tea is found to consist of a therapeutic and substantial effect in reduced risk and treatment of stroke, some scientists suggested
Green tea is a precious drink processes numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and the Western world. However, as yin in nature herbal medicine or food, long term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, induced "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weaken immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.
Stroke is a medical condition of emergency caused by reduced or interrupted blood circulation to the brain, such as blocking artery induced ischemic stroke and leaking or bursting of a blood vessel precipitated hemorrhagic.
According to statistic, in the US, every year, approximately 795,000 people suffer a stroke, a leading cause of serious and long-term disability.
Evaluation of green tea effect in the risk of stroke was found to associated with certain mechanism involving numbers of aspects.
The review of medical literature published online suggested that green tea with strong inhibition of high blood pressure, a primary risk factor of stroke through its antioxidant and vasodilative activities induced by phytochemical flavonoids in improved blood circulation to the brain. Although increased acute blood pressure was found in some studies, this acute effect did not translate into significant alterations in ambulatory blood pressure during regular tea consumption.
The impact of tea or catechin consumption precipitated nitric oxide formation, as an essential gas signal molecule to protect the brain against in facilitated ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke by relaxed vascular smooth muscle cells and induced vasodilatation through regulating a network of the blood vessel and peripheral nerve tissues.
Amazingly, catechin also reduced NO levels through endothelial function by increased platelets aggression in post-stroke.
In fact, green tea theanine, bioactive chemical constituents also found to process anti-stroke development through stimulating NO production of the cells in the inner wall of arteries in reduced risk of vascular constriction and promoted blood circulation, thus decreasing the risk of an artery-blocking clot, a major cause of stroke,
Further analysis also discovered that glutamate molecule found in theanine may also play an important role in the attenuated risk of stroke through neuroprotective effect by decreased middle cerebral artery occlusion and cerebral infarction caused by blocking or narrowing the arteries in supplying blood and oxygen to the brain.
According to the study of 82 369 Japanese (aged 45-74 years; without the cardiovascular disease [CVD] or cancer in 1995 and 1998 for Cohort I and II, respectively) received 13 years of mean follow-up through the end of 2007. green tea consumption of green tea 2 to 3 and ≥ 4 cups/d showed a significant effect in reduced risk of stroke with the multivariable-adjusted hazard ratios of 0.86 (0.78-0.95) and 0.80 (0.73-0.89), respectively in compared to nondrinkers. And Higher green tea consumption reduced the risks of stroke subtypes, especially in intracerebral hemorrhage.
Other researchers suggested that green tea efficacy in reduced risk of stroke may be also associated to antioxidant effect in the protection of endothelial function in blood circulation by reduced high blood cholesterol-induced plaque build-up in the arteries in blocking blood flow to the brain, particularly in reactive oxygen species (ROS) precipitation of lipid peroxidation.
The effect of green tea in reduced insulin resistance in healthy adults may also contribute to lower risk of stroke, according to the cohort of 1509 nondiabetic participants from the Northern Manhattan Study (mean [SD] age, 11 [10] years; 64.2% women; 58.9% Hispanics).
Dr. Arab L said, "Regardless of their country of origin, individuals consuming >or=3 cups of tea per day had a 21% lower risk of stroke than those consuming <1 cup per day (absolute risk reduction, 0.79; CI, 0.73 to 0.85). The proportion of heterogeneity not explained by chance alone was 23.8%".
The information findings suggested that habitual green tea consumption may have a therapeutic in reduced risk of stroke development in the general population.

Healthy Legume, Navy Bean Reduces Risk of Breast Cancer
The breast is the tissue overlying the chest muscles. in women, breasts are made of specialized tissue that produces milk (glandular tissue) and fatty tissue. The size of the women breast is totally determined by the amount of fat.
Breast cancer is a medical condition associated with alternation of cell DNA located either in the inner lining of milk ducts (Ductal carcinoma) or the lobules (Lobular carcinoma) that supply the ducts with milk.
Most cases of breast cancer start in the cells on the surface of the inner lining tissues of the breast before penetrating into deeper layers to form a tumor through cell cycle division.
According to the statistics provided by the American Cancer Society, in the U.S. approximately, 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
In 2019, approximately 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 62,930 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
Most common symptoms of the early stage of breast cancer are lump (mass) in the breast, a lump in the armpit (lymph nodes), nipple discharge (clear or bloody), inverted or retracted nipple, scaly or pitted skin on nipple persistent tenderness of the breast and unusual breast pain or discomfort.
If you experience some of the aforementioned symptoms, please check with your doctor to rule out the possibility.
The 5 years survival rate of breast cancer diagnosed at the early stage is closed to 100%.
At the advanced stage, patients may also experience additional symptoms of bone pain (Secondary tumors in the bone), shortness of breath (Secondary tumors in the lung), unintentional weight loss and drop in appetite (Secondary tumors in the liver) and headaches, neurological pain or weakness (Secondary tumors in the nervous system).
The small, white navy bean, also called pea bean or haricot, popular in both dry and green forms, is very popular in Britain and the US, native to Peru. It is now grown and consumed across the world, due to their numerous health benefits.
On finding a potential compound for the treatment of breast cancer, researchers evaluated the high dietary fiber intake and breast cancer risk, particularly in hormone receptor‐negative breast cancer.
According to the returned food frequency data of a population‐based case–control study, including 2135 breast cancer cases (1070 Hispanics, 493 African Americans, and 572 non‐Hispanic Whites (NHWs)) and 2571 controls (1391 Hispanics, 557 African Americans, and 623 NHWs), high intake of bean fiber and total bean, including the navy bean reduced risk of breast cancer by 20% compared to those in the low quartile.
Furthermore, high intake of bean fiber and total bean have a strong inverse association with ER‐PR‐ breast cancer. More precisely, the reduced risk of ER-PR breast cancer associated with high intake were ranging from 28 to 36%.
Believe it or not, fiber intake from vegetables and fruits or total intake of vegetables and fruits showed no effects on the reduced risk of the diseases.
In other words, adding a portion or 2 of the navy bean into your daily diet may have a significant effect on the prevention of breast cancer, particularly in hormone-related breast cancer
Based on the finding, researchers wrote in the final report, "A high dietary intake of bean fiber and fiber‐rich foods such as beans and grains may lower the risk of ER‐PR‐ breast cancer, an aggressive breast cancer subtype for which few risk factors have been identified".
Taken altogether, navy bean containing a high amount of fibers may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of hormone-related breast cancer pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Phytochemical Betacyanins Protects the Bladder Cell Integrity Against DNA Alternation
Cancer is a group of a medical and chronic condition characterized by irregular cells growth in the tissue of the specific organ in the body.
Most cases of cancer start in the cell on the surface of the inner lining tissue of an organ. After penetrating into deeper layers and colonizing the entire organ, the cancerous cells can spread to healthy tissue of other organs through lymph and blood.
The bladder is a hollow elastic organ in the center of the lower abdomen that collects urine from the kidneys and excreted them through the urethra.
Bladder cancer occurs when cells mass in the inner lining of the bladder forms a malignant growth or tumor. Bladder cancer developed in the bladder lining has also been found to spread through the bladder wall to nearby organs such as the prostate gland in men or the uterus in women.
Bladder cancer can be classified depending on its proliferation
* Superficial types of bladder cancer
The most recurrent type of bladder cancers has a characteristic by noninvasive. These types of bladder cancer can be controlled or removed by regular cystoscopy.
* Invasive types of bladder cancer
Invasive types of bladder cancer tend to spread after beginning in cells in the lining of the bladder. These types of cancer often require surgery by removing part or the whole bladder.
The exact causes of bladder cancer are not identified. However, smoking has been found to induce a substantial risk of bladder cancer incidence.
Dr. Neal D Freedman, the lead scientist wrote, "...the population attributable risk of bladder cancer for tobacco smoking is 50–65% in men and 20–30% in women and that current cigarette smoking triples bladder cancer risk relative to never smoking".
And, "Compared to a pooled estimate of US data from cohorts initiated between 1963 and 1987, relative risks for smoking in the more recent NIH-AARP cohort were higher, with population attributable risks for women compared to those for men".
Betacyanins are phytochemicals in the class of red and yellow indole-derived pigments, belonging to the group of Betalains, found abundantly in beets, chard, etc.
On finding a natural pigment for the prevention and treatment of cancer, researchers examined Betacyanins (BC) purified from beetroot (Beta vulgaris var. Rubra L.) tested, alone or in combination with vitexin-2-O-xyloside (XVX) from Beta vulgaris var. cicla L. in the proliferation rate in T24 bladder cancer cells.
According to the tested analysis,* Combination of BC and XVX exhibited a synergistic effect that inhibits proliferation in T24 cancer cells at 24 and 48 h but not after 72 h of incubation.
* The combination induced apoptosis of T24 bladder cancer cells observed by means of fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) analysis by increasing the expression in caspases associated with cell death programming.
The inhibition of bladder cancer cell line was found to enhance the expression levels of the pro-apoptotic gene and inhibit anti-apoptotic and survival proteins.
Extrinsically, administration of BC increase of the activity of caspase 8, a protein associated with the induction of apoptosis.
Interestingly, the XVX, BC, and their combination induced cancer cell death without exhibiting a cytotoxic effect on normal and healthy human cells.
Based on the findings, Dr. Scarpa ES, the lead scientist said, "the efficacy and the mechanisms of the action of BC and XVX, extracted from edible plants, and suggested that a diet or a nutrition supplement, enriched with these bioactive molecules, could be used in the prevention of human bladder cancer".
Taken altogether, betacyanins may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of bladder cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of betacyanins in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.
