All About Green Tea: Green Tea and its Bioactive Polyphenols Epigallocatechin-3-gallate in Attenuated Risk and Treatment of Autoimmune Hepatitis

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk and treatment of autoimmune hepatitis, some scientists suggested.

Green tea, a precious drink processes numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world. However, as yin in nature herbal medicine or food, long term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, induced "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weaken immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.

Autoimmune hepatitis is a medical condition characterized by immune system attacking the liver cells in induction of liver cirrhosis as a result of long term liver cellular inflammation and necrosis.

The study of concanavalin A (ConA) (25 mg/kg) induced autoimmune hepatitis in mice, pretreatment of green tea exerted a strong inhibition of inflammatory cytokines through increased Bcl-2 expression with function of blocking the apoptotic death of some cells and deceased activity of protein Bax in activated p53 a tumor suppressor to induce cell death and caspase-3, and Caspase-9 proteins in signaling molecules in responsible for executing cell death in compared to ConA-treated group within 8 hours of applications, according to observation of TUNEL assay by detecting apoptotic cells that undergo extensive DNA degradation.

In other words, green tea EGCG administration reduced expression of ConA in induction of decreased numbers of infectious cells being attacked by the immune system, thus ameliorated risk of liver cell damage.

Further differentiation indicated that application of green tea bioactive polyphenols Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (10 or 30 mg/kg) orally twice daily for 10 days before ConA injection demonstrates a significant activity in reduced activation of BNIP3, a member of the apoptotic Bcl-2 protein family in mediated infectious cell apoptosis through autophagy in induced destruction of damaged or redundant cellular components in compared to lectin ConA.
The result of green tea EGCG efficacy in induction of BNIP3 to decrease expression of concanavalin A (ConA) in reduction of numbers infectious cell proliferation was attributed to the IL-6/JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway which plays an important role in the mechanisms in exhibited green tea EGCG antioxidant activity in blocking infectious cells migration and invasion in exhibited hepatoprotective effect.

In other words, said, Dr. Li S, the lead scientist "EGCG attenuated liver injury in ConA-induced hepatitis by down-regulating IL-6/JAKs/STAT3/BNIP3-mediated apoptosis and autophagy".

Further differentiation also found that green tea EGCG administration inhibited the immune over reaction and pathological damage by decreased expression of inflammatory cytokines induced by Tumor necrosis factor (TNF), tumor necrosis factor alpha, a cell signaling protein (cytokine) in activated systemic inflammation in the acute phase infection.

Additionally, green tea also modulated the inflammatory factors, interleukin 6 (IL-6), the pro inflammatory cytokines and anti inflammatory mytokins promptly and transiently produced in response to infections and tissue injuries and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), a cytokine that plays an important role in inducing and modulating immune responses to the infectious tissue, as well as cytokine interleukin-1β (IL-1β), a key mediator of the inflammatory response in protected body against pathological invasion.

Taken together, green tea and its bioactive Epigallocatechin-3-gallate EGCG may be considered a functional food to reduced risk and used combination with standard therapy for treatment of autoimmune hepatitis.

All About Green Tea: Green Tea and Bioactive Polyphenols Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) in Protection Against Memory Deficits

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in protected against memory deficits, some scientists suggested.

Green tea, a precious drink processes numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world. However, as yin in nature herbal medicine or food, long term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, induced "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weaken immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.ore

Memory deficit are, medical condition characterized lost of the ability in store and recall past information, such as knowledge, sensation, thoughts,......

Lost of memory function is not only associated with normal aging progression in adult population but considered as a feature of neurodegenerative diseases, including psychiatric and neurological disorders.

According to the Harvard neuro discovery center, today, approximately 5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease; 1 million from Parkinson's; 400,000 from multiple sclerosis (MS); 30,000 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease), and 30,000 from Huntington's disease.

The evaluate green tea extract (GTex) and its major functional polyphenol (−)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) effect on memory of cerebral ischemic rats showed that green tea EGCG and pentoxifylline (PTX), a methylxanthine derivative with anti-inflammatory function, application after 1 hour demonstrates a strong efficacy in improved ishemic-induced memory impairment, according to Morris water maze test.

Long term treatment of green tea EGCG also displayed a significant increase level of antioxidant such as malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, glutathione (GSH), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus, through prevented cerebral infraction breakdown of MDA and GSH in the hippocampus, in protected against damage to cellular components caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) including free radicals, peroxides, lipid peroxides....

Further analysis, green tea EGCG inhibited BV-2 microglia cells in induction of brain inflammatory effect in precipitated neurodegeneration and neuro toxicology to facilitate memory impairment, through ameliorated the expression of lipopolysaccharide- (LPS-) in exhibited free radical nitric oxide production which are associated to in initiated neurotoxicity.

Additionally, the applicatiopn also ameliorated the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression associated with pro-inflammatory activities in mediated neurodegenerative processes of several acute and chronic diseases and expression of the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), one of the direct consequences of an inflammatory process in the BV-2 cells.

In short, the experiment of cerebral ischemia animal model indicated that green extract and its active polyphenol EGCG improved learning and memory deficits through exhibited antioxidant activity in reduction of oxidative stress and neuro-inflammation.

Moreover, green tea Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) with beneficial effects on the impairment in learning and memory also demonstrated in increased autophagic activation in getting rid of damage and dysfunctional cell accumulation to protect healthy neuron from stressful conditions, such as over expression of ROS presentation, according to the experiment of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-induced cognitive impairment in rats and observed through the elevated LC3-II, a reliable method for monitoring autophagy and autophagy-related processes, including autophagic cell death.and p62 protein level, an useful marker for the induction of autophagy,

At the same time, the green tea EGCG also displayed a strong inhibition of increased neuronal loss and activated mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR)/p70 ribosomal protein S6 kinase (p70S6k) signaling caused by implication of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) in the CA1 regions in the hippocampal circuit in initiation of the pathophysiology of memory deficits, thus reducing amyloid beta1-42 (Aβ1-42) deposit, and restored autophagic degradation activity.

Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR)/p70 ribosomal protein S6 kinase (p70S6k) signaling pathway is an essential cellular signaling pathway involved a number of important physiological functions, including cell growth, proliferation, metabolism, protein synthesis, and autophagy.

Taken together, green tea and its bioactive polyphenols Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) may be considered as adjunct therapy in reduced risk and enhanced standard medicine for treatment of memory deficits.

All About Green Tea: Green tea and Its Polyphenols in Reduced Risk, Progression, Complications and Treatment of Liver Cirrhosis

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk and treatment of liver cirrhosis, some scientists suggested.

Liver cirrhosis is a condition of abnormal function of liver due to damage liver tissue replaced by scar tissue.

According to statistic, risk of liver cirrhosis is 1.6% in adult population.

Green tea polyphenols in reduced risk and treatment of patients with liver cirrhosis was found to associate to numbers of implication, involving various mechanisms.

In male SD rats model induced liver cirrhosis through carbon tetrachloride(CCL4), randomly assigned to 3 groups, including normal group, green tea extract (GTE) group and cirrhosis group, with GTE group and the cirrhosis group were injected subcutanuously 2 times/wk over 9 weeks with 40% Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), researcher found that green tea treatment groups displayed a significant reduction of concentration of hydroxyproline, an amino acid produced during the hydrolysis of collagen initiate scar accumulation in the liver damage tissue caused by CCl4) in compared to cirrhosis group.

Further analysis, also indicated that green tea exhibited antioxidant activities in decreased expression of malondialdehyde (MDA), a highly toxic reactive species in precipitated liver damage induced by application of carbon tetrachloride(CCL4).

Additionally, the green tea extract ameliorated the liver damage cell in formation of cirrhosis through attenuating the expression of transforming growth factor beta 1 or TGF-β1 in initiated cell growth, cell proliferation.

In differentiation of 11 patients with hepatitis C and detectable viremia of 4 Child-Pugh (CP) class A cirrhosis, 4 Child-Pugh class B cirrhosis, and 3 noncirrhotic, researchers at the Thomas Jefferson University indicated that injection of a single oral dose of green tea extract 400 mg containing 94% pure EGCG demonstrated a strong effect in reduced cirrhosis over expression in induction of liver tumor growth by inhibiting the virus hepatitis in facilitate the production of ROS species through chronic liver inflammation, according to the blood sample withdrawn from the patients without inducing liver toxicity.

Dr. Halegoua-De Marzio D, after taking into account of other con founders said, "A single 400-mg oral dose of EGCG was safe and well tolerated by all of the patients in the study" and disposition of EGCG was not significantly altered in these patients with cirrhosis".

Interestingly, in the concern of abnormal angiogenesis in patients with liver cirrhosis in induction of severe complications such as variceal haemorrhage and encephalopathy, Dr. Hsu SJ and colleges conducted a study to investigate the effect of green tea extract in Spraqtue-Dawley rats liver induced in by common BDL (bile duct ligation) in compared to control given distill water for 28 days and found that group treated with green tea extract expressed a strong implication in ameliorated the severity of portosystemic shunting, a rare malformation of the vessels supplying blood to the liver caused by excessive shunting of blood from the liver portal vein to the lower and middle body into the right atrium of the heart due to liver cirrhosis in induction portal hypertension and one of complication of variceal haemorrhage in patient with chronic liver cirrhosis and mesenteric angiogenesis in development of new blood vessels to supply oxygen and nutrients to initiate liver cancer.

Moreover, the effect of green tea GTP extract in reduced progression of liver cirrhosis was attributed to the suppression of hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1α) in expression of liver disease of diverse etiologies, including chronic liver diseases caused by viral infection, excessive alcohol consumption and activation of protein kinase B (Akt) in regulated infectious liver cell survival, cell-cycle progression,... and levels of VEGF in reflection of increased portal hypertension or decreased hepatic regenerative activity or the combination of both.

Dr.Hsu SJ, the lead author said after the conclusion, "GTP appears to be an appropriate agent in controlling portal hypertension-related complications via anti-angiogenesis.

Taken together, Green tea extract containing major polyphenols such as EGCG may be considered as a functional food in reduced risk, progression, complications and treatment of liver cirrhosis. Intake of green tea supplement should be taken with special care to prevent acute toxicity.

All About Green Tea: Green Tea and Lower Dose of Its Bioactive Polyphenols (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in Reduced Cardiac Fibrosis in Induction of Heart Failure

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk and treatment of cardiac fibroids some scientists suggested.

Cardiac fibrosis is a uncommon condition of abnormal thickening of the heart valves caused by inappropriate proliferation of cardiac fibroblasts but commonly, it is the excess deposition of molecules outside a cell or cells with structural and biochemical support to the surrounding cells in the cardiac muscle, leading to cardiac dysfunction and eventually heart failure.

The study of rat cardiac fibroblasts caused by injected by angiotensinII (AngII) also revealed that green tea inhibited the abnormal increase in level of connective tissue growth factor CTGF by decreased expression of the nuclear translocation of NF-κB p65 subunit and degradation of IκB-α in induced promotion of fibroblast proliferation and extracellular matrix (ECM) accumulation, thereby exacerbating cardiac hypertrophy and subsequent failure were attributed to bioactive polyphenol EGCG expression in significantly reduced collagen synthesis, fibronectin (FN) expression and cell proliferation.

In deed, due to the activity of CTGF as a matricellular protein modulating the fibrotic process in cardiac remodelling, some researchers suggested that the gowth factor may be considered as a biomarker for cardiac fibrosis for therapeutic intervention to mitigate fibrosis in the heart.

Interestingly, in the evaluated the effect of GABA tea, containing a high level of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in cardiac function with male Wistar rats injected with 55 mg/kg streptozotocin (STZ) to induce diabetes for 2 weeks and then orally given dosages of 4.55 and 45.5 mg/kg/day GABA tea extract for 6 weeks, researchers revealed that rats treated with injection of GABA tea not only induces fasting blood glucose levels returned to normal levels but also inhibits cardiac fibrosis in compared to untreated group.

Further experiments also showed that GABA tea in ameliorated cardiac deposit risk was attributed to inhibited the protein levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), Fas and activated caspase-8 and caspase-3 induced in STZ rats in mediated cardiomyocyte apoptosis which has been found in elevation in patient with cardiac dysfunction such as cardiac fibrosis and an indication of chronic hemodynamic overloading and early cardiac decompensation.

Dr. Cherng SH, the lead authors suggested," (GABA tea reduced)cardiac fibrosis (expression) in diabetic rats may be mediated by reducing blood glucose and further attenuating TNF-alpha expression and/or Fas/Fas ligand (FasL)-mediated apoptosis".

Unfortunately, injection of bioactive polyphenols (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in high dose was found to induce the oppositely effect by increasing cardiac fibroids.

According to the study of green tea bioactive polyphenols (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in risk of cardiac fibroids induction of myocardiotoxicity in animal model, at the the joint study lead by the Guangzhou Medical University, injection of EGCG 500 and 1000 mg/kg demonstrated a significant effect in initiated cardiac collagen synthesis involved in the formation of filtration systems, through cells differentiation in connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) mRNA expression and protein produced by fibroblasts.

Further more, the application of green tea extract also displayed an exhibited fibrosis-related protein expression in induction of cardiac fibroids deposit through stimulating function of fibronectin (FN), a ubiquitous extracellular matrix (ECM) glycoprotein circulated in the blood to initiated heart muscle repair.

After taking into account of other con confounders, Dr. Cai Y, the lead scientist said, "high oral doses of EGCG could induce cardiac fibrosis, and shed new light on the understanding of EGCG-mediated myocardiotoxicity".

The information findings suggested that green tea with bioactive poluphenols EGCG at lower dose may be used as function food in reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases caused by cardiac fibroids. In take of green tea supplement EGCG mus be taken with care as overdoses-toxicity has been reported in some cases.

All About Green Tea: Green and Black tea in Ameliorated Risk Human Immunodeficiency Virus -1 (HIV-1) Infection

Green and black tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk of HIV 1 infection, some scientists suggested.

Human immunodeficiency virus -1 (HIV-1) is one of 2 types of HIV precipitated of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), transmitted through direct contact with HIV-infected body fluids, including blood, semen, and genital secretions,....

According to statistic, approximately 36.7 million people worldwide living with HIV/AIDS in 2016, including, 2.1 million of children less than 15 years of age.

According to the investigation of Theaflavins, the major components of tea polyphenols extracted from brewed black tea and green tea inhibited inhibited HIV-1 entry by targeting gp41 which is a transmembrane protein with function in embedded with outer coat of HIV to enter and infected host cells.

However, due to the unstable and purified of the individual theaflavins, natural preparation containing 90% of theaflavins (TFmix) in most study was used to experiment of its effect against HIV-1 microbide for preventing HIV sexual transmission.

In vitro using p24 production and luciferase assays, TFmix exhibited potent anti-HIV-1 activity on lab-adapted and primary HIV-1 strains with IC(50), the concentration of an application that gives half-maximal response in dose of less than 1.20 μM, through targeting the gp41 in inhibited virus-host membrane fusion during infection mediated by the formation of six helix bundle (6HB).

In other words, theaflavins administration was found to initiate potent anti-HIV-1 activity by targeting the viral entry step through the disruption of gp41 6-HB core structure,

Further more, application of theaflavins (TFmix) also inhibited reverse transcriptase (RT) activity, an RNA-dependent DNA, which is the process in replication of RNA from a DNA template through polymerase (DNAP) enzyme in forming new copies of DNA, in the form of nucleic acid molecules, with the IC(50) about 8-fold higher of theaflavins (TFmix) concentration than that for inhibiting gp41 6-HB formation.

In peptide fragments, derived from prostatic acidic phosphatase secreted in large amounts into human semen to form amyloid fibrils plaques with function to induced viral infection (SEVI), through capturing the HIV virions and direct them to target cells into liver cell to initiated entry step, during sexual activity, injection of green tea epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) inhibited the expression of SEVI and revoked semen in mediated enhancement of HIV-1 infection through precipitated viral degradation without induced healthy cell toxicity.

Further analysis of green tea EGCG activity using HIV-1 infectivity on human CD4+ T cells, at a physiologic concentration of 6μM, EGCG significantly inhibited HIV-1 p24 antigen production in expression of acute infection in both HIV-1 clinical isolates and laboratory-adapted subtypes B C, D, and G.

Particularly, EGCG-induced inhibition of HV-1 infectivity was not due to cytotoxicity, cell growth inhibition, nor apoptosis but blocking the HIV activity in attachment of HIV-1-gp120, a glycoprotein exposed on the surface of the HIV envelope to the CD4 molecule in the entry point in initiated infectivity.Dr. Christina L., the lead author concluded, "(by) preventing the attachment of HIV-1-gp120 to the CD4 molecule, EGCG inhibits HIV-1 infectivity. As this inhibition can be achieved at physiologic concentrations, the natural anti-HIV agent, EGCG, is a candidate as an alternative therapy in HIV-1 therapy".

The information findings suggested that green tea with abundant bioactive polyphenols Theaflavins including epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) may be considered as a function food to ameliorated risk of HIV 1 infection by blocking the complex process in initiation.

All About Green Tea: Green Tea in Attenuated Risk and Treatment of Hepatitis B

Green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk and treatment of hepatitis B, some scientists suggested.

Hepatitis B is a viral infection of acute and chronic liver disease, caused by a double stranded DNA virus HBV transmitted through infected blood, semen, or other body fluid.

According to the statistic, positive carriers among Canadian is estimated to be 0.5% to 1.0%., depending to ethnicity.

According to the evaluation of the effect of green tea bioactive polyphenos epigallocatechin-3 gallate (EGCG) and risk of hepatitis B, application of the phytochemical inhibited HBV replication in the testing Hep3B2.1-7 hepatocellular carcinoma cell line, through a significant effect in reduced prevalence of liver damage caused by hepatitis B virus.

Interesting, injection of EGCG at the dose of less than 100 μM in the observed liver cancer cell line showed no effect in induced cell apoptosis and decreased proliferation but exhibited a strong effect in ameliorated expression of surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus (HBsAg) and antigen of hepatitis B virus circulated in infected blood (HBeAg) levels found by the ELISA method and the polymerase chain reaction (PCR)assay.

Further differentiation in different HepG2 2.2.15 cells to compare the effective of green tea with standard antiretroviral medication lamivudine (3TC), researchers indicated that administration of EGCG shows a significant inhibition of viral proliferation through attenuated expression of levels of HBsAg and HBeAg in the supernatant and extracellular HBV DNA in a dose- and time-dependent manner. At doses of 50-200 μg/ml EGCG displayed strong effects in compared to lamivudine (3TC) at dose of 200 μg/ml.

More importantly, application of EGCG also suppressed the extracellular HBV DNA, a nutrient source for viral cell proliferation and survival through attachment, aggregation, and stabilization of microcolonies.

The results of the experiments pointed out that green tea EGCG consists a potential anti-HBV activity with low toxicity.

Additional investigation of green tea EGCG effect in the early stages of infection caused by four different Hepatitis B virus genotypes A and D also found that at dose of more than 80%, the phyochemical inhibited both DMSO-differentiated HuS-E/2 cells and HA-NTCP-expressing Huh7 cells involved cancer cell process in early stage of proliferation through induced protein degradation and ameliorated serum of tansferrin.(the iron-binding blood plasma glycoproteins that control the level of free iron in biological fluids)which isconsidered as a liver fibrosis biomarker in patients with chronic hepatitis B.

However, Treatment of cells with EGCG had no effect on HBV genome replication or virion secretion and the characteristic of HBV virion and the expression of known HBV entry factors were unaltered out side of the host before attacking the liver tissue.

All these results suggested that the green tea-derived molecule EGCG potently inhibits HBV entry and could be used in prevention and treatment of Hepatitis B. Intake of green tea supplement should be taken with to prevent overdoses cause of acute liver toxicity.

All About Green Tea: Green Tea in Reduced Risk, Progression and Treatment of Oral Cancer

Green tea may have a profound and sustainable effect in reduced risk and treatment of oral cancer, some scientists suggested.

Adding a slice of ginger will neutralize the risk.

Oral cancer is medical condition characterized by irregular cell growth in the issues of mouth area. At the later stage, the cancerous cell may travel a distance away to invade other healthy tissues and organs.

According to statistic, 1 in 75 men and 1 in 150 women will be diagnosed with oral cancer during their lifetime

In the review of medical literature online, green tea extract green tea catechin, (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) showed to reduced risk and treatment of oral cancers through some particular mechanisms.

In human oral squamous carcinoma cells (SCC-25, SCC-9), application of green tea catechin, (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) suppressed SIRT3 mRNA and protein expression in induction of SCC-25 cells proliferation, through antioxidant effect in attenuated function of SIRT3 in contribution to cancer cell survival via mRNA transmitting by modulating oxidative stress..

Some reserachers also insisted that SIRT 3 may be considered as a bio-maker for targeting stage and grade of cancer progression.

Further analysis, suggested that green tea bioactive EGCG also up regulated the nuclear localization of the estrogen-related receptor α (ERRα) in inhibited oral cell carcinoma tumors by regulating SIRT3 in expression of cancer cellular metabolism.

Interestingly, EGCG application also displayed a significant effect in modulated the mRNA expressions of SIRT3-associated to cancer cell in induction of cell proliferation through inhibiting the production of reactive oxidative species in precipitated chain reactive in initiation of cancer cell division.

More importantly, in ROS perspective, oral administration of green tea EGCG by targeting the protein SIRT3 in exhibited antioxidant effect in protect healthy cells without affecting formation of ROS to facilitate oral cancer cell apoptosis through cytotoxicity.

Dr. Tao L, after taking into account of other cofounders, said, "SIRT3 represents a novel potential target through which EGCG exerts differential prooxidant effects in cancer and normal cells".

Further observation of the efficacy of green tea extract EGCG, also indicated that EGCG treatment increased the production of mitochondrial H2O2 in SCC-25 cells within 6 hours before inducing cancer cells apoptosis.

In antioxidant activity. green extract EGCG induced differential expression of genes related to antioxidant defense in oral cancer cell and gingival fibroblasts, which are critical in sustaining inflammation in periodontal disease through ameliorated expression of metallothionein 3 in induction of degeneration of cells and superoxide dismutase 2/3, and thioredoxin reductase 2 in facilitate oxidative stress to induce oncogenesis without increased cell proliferation of human gingival fibroblast -1 (HGF-1).

Additional examination indicated that the application also exhibited anti oral cancer apoptosis by increased expression of mitochondrial ROS and mitochondrial dysfunction in facilitated intoxicate effect without causing harm to the gingival fibroblasts through antioxidant selective activities.

Green tea with promising chemo properties due to their decreased dose and limited toxicity profiles, Dr. Ramshankar V1, the lead author said, "It is worthwhile to include green tea extract in an oral screening program for evaluating the pre-malignant lesions comparing the results between the treated and untreated group. Given the wide acceptance of green tea, its benefits may help in effective chemo-prevention oral cancer".

Taken together, green tea with abundant bioactive polyphennols may be considered as a function for prevention and used as adjunct therapy in combination with standard treatment of oral cancer. Intake of green tea extract as supplement are not recommended as toxicity has been reported in numbers of case.
