Curcumin, the Single Bioactive Compound Which Processes Cardioprotective Property Against Heart Disease, Scientists Say

Scientists may have found a kitchen bioactive compound which processes cardio-protective properties, according to studies.

Cardioprotection is an action that contributes to the protection of heart integrity against damage or injury.

In other words, cardioprotection is a process in which substances or medicines are used including an herbal remedy to protect heart muscle tissues against ischemic insult and deoxygenation injury.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are a class of conditions associated with the dysfunction of the arteries and heart.

Coronary artery disease caused by narrowing of the arteries, heart attack, abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmias and stroke are the most common types of cardiovascular diseases found in the Western world.

Most common symptoms of CVD include persistent fatigue, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, and fainting.

If you have some of the aforementioned symptoms, please make sure that you check with your doctor to rule out the CVD possibility.

The exact causes of cardiovascular diseases are unidentified. However, according to epidemiological studies, the most prevalent factors include aging, smoking. lack of exercise. unhealthy diet. obesity. high blood pressure and cholesterol, and family history.

Out of many risk factors, an unhealthy lifestyle is one of the major risk factors that cause the onset of CVD, some researchers suggested.

Dr. Haskell WL in the investigation of cardiovascular disease prevention and lifestyle interventions
said, "While heredity can be a major factor for some people, their personal health habits and environmental/cultural exposure are more important factors".

And, "Not smoking, being physically active, eating a heart-healthy diet, staying reasonably lean, and avoiding major stress and depression are the major components of an effective CVD prevention program. For people at high risk of CVD, medications frequently need to be added to a healthy lifestyle to minimize their risk of a heart attack or stroke, particularly in persons with conditions such as hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, or hyperglycemia. Maintaining an effective CVD prevention program in technologically advanced societies cannot be achieved by many high-risk persons without effective and sustained support from a well-organized health care system".

The results strongly suggested by lifestyle change has a strong implication in the prevention of the CVD.

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.
With an aim to find a potent compound which processes cardioprotective effects, researchers investigated the cardioprotective effect of curcumin in NE-induced cardiac apoptosis. According to the tested assays, curcumin protected the cardiomyocytes against apoptosis significantly.

Furthermore, injection of curcumin also reverted to cardiomyocytes damage back to the normal physiological state.

In other words, curcumin protected the integrity of heart muscle cells against Norepinephrine (NE) in the induction of the onset of cardiomyopathy and heart failure.

Dr. Manghani C, the lead scientist said, "curcumin has the potential to act as a therapeutic agent for the attenuation of NE-induced cardiac cell death and modulation of apoptosis in H9c2 cardiomyocytes".

Taken altogether, turmeric may be considered a cardioprotective supplement for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Ginger, the Herbal Remedy Which Promotes Weight Loss

On seeking natural therapy with no side effects, scientists may have a vegetable in the induction of weight loss, according to studies.

Weight loss is a process that intentionally reduces the total body mass, through the decrease of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue or lean mass.

Due to the widespread obesity in North America (over 68% of the US population is either overweight or obese), many weight loss products were created by manufacturers. The weight loss products is a 66 billion business in the US, according to the statistic provided by the Marketdata LLC research firm. And the business continues to grow at a rapid rate.

Is the weight loss products work? I don't think so. Otherwise, the percentage of the overweight population in the US should be decreased substantially.

In other words, all weight loss products may have a complex structure or a long-term commitment before the results can be seen.

The National Institutes of Health wrote, "You might be surprised to learn that makers of weight-loss supplements rarely carry out studies in people to find out whether their product works and is safe. And when studies are done, they usually involve only small numbers of people who take the supplement for just a few weeks or months. To know whether a weight-loss supplement can help people lose weight safely and keep it off, larger groups of people need to be studied for a longer time.".

In short, most weight products are buy-at your own-risk products.

In fact, everyone knows, the proven ways to lose weight are eating healthful foods, cutting calories, and being physically active.

Dr. Catherine M. Champagne and colleagues in the investigation of healthy diets and weight loss, wrote, "Increased intake of fruits and vegetables was associated with weight loss in Phases I and II: 0.29 kg per 6-months (p<0.0001) and 0.04 kg per 6-months (p=0.0062), respectively, per 1-serving increase. Substitution of carbohydrates for fat and protein for carbohydrates were associated with weight loss during both phases".

And, "Increasing dairy intake was associated with significant weight loss during Phase II (−0.17 kg per 6-months per 1-serving increase, p=0.0002), but not in Phase I. Dietary fiber revealed no significant findings".

The results strongly suggested that if you want to lose weight, you better follow a healthy diet with an increased intake of fruits and vegetables.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) or ginger root, the second superfood used for thousands of years by mankind, is the genus Zingiber, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to Tamil.

The root has been used in traditional and Chinese medicine for the treatment of dyspepsia, gastroparesis, constipation, edema, difficult urination, colic, etc.

Scientists on finding a herbal remedy that has potential in stimulating weight loss examined the dietary supplements containing green tea, capsaicin and ginger extracts on weight loss and metabolic profiles among overweight women.

The randomized double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial included 50 overweight women satisfied the criteria and guidelines.

Selected candidates were randomly divided into 2 groups. Group A received dietary supplements containing 125 mg green tea, 25 mg capsaicin, and 50 mg ginger extracts (n = 25) group B received placebos (n = 25) twice with lunch and twice with dinner daily for 8 weeks.

Supplement treatment groups showed a significant decrease in weight and body mass index compared to the control.

Women who received the supplement exerted a strong improvement on metabolic profiles including the decreased serum insulin concentrations, insulin resistance (-0.5 ± 0.8 vs. -0.05 ± 0.6, p = 0.01), and increased insulin sensitivity, compared to control.

Futhermore, the antioxidant enzymes produced by the host in the supplement group also was enhanced compared to control.

The results indicated that daily intake of the supplement may have a positive impact on inducing weight loss through improving the body metabolism and antioxidant activity.

Dr, Taghizadeh M and colleagues wrote in the final report, "taking green tea, capsaicin and ginger co-supplements for 8 weeks among overweight women had beneficial effects on weight, BMI, markers of insulin metabolism and plasma GSH levels".

In order to reveal more information about using ginger to lose weight, researchers investigated the effect of ginger intake on weight loss, glycemic control, and lipid profiles among overweight and obese subjects by reaching the medical literature online.

The selection of the quality of the studies is based on guidelines of the Cochrane risk of bias tool.

According to the 14 studies with 473 subjects included in the meta-analysis, supplementation with ginger significantly decreased body weight (BW), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), the hip ratio (HR), fasting glucose, compared to placebo.

Moreover, decreased insulin resistance and significantly increased HDL-cholesterol levels were also observed in the ginger treatment groups.

Surprisingly, ginger supplement showed no effect body mass index (BMI), insulin, triglycerides, total- and LDL-cholesterol.

Dr.Maharlouei N, the lead scientist after taking into account co and confounders said, "Overall, the current meta-analysis demonstrated that ginger intake reduced BW, WHR, HR, fasting glucose and HOMA-IR, and increased HDL-cholesterol, but did not affect insulin, BMI, triglycerides, total- and LDL-cholesterol levels".

Taken altogether, ginger used alone or combined with other supplements may be considered a functional remedy for inducing weight loss in overweight and obese population, pending to the confirmation of larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Herbal Butterbur, Exhibits Cytotoxic Effects Against Cancers Cells

Scientists may have found a medicinal remedy for the prevention and treatment of cancer with no side effects, according to studies.

Cancer is a class of diseases in which a group of cells growing and multiplying disordered and uncontrollable way in our body, due to change of cellular DNA.

Most cases of cancer start in the cells on the surface of the inner lining of tissue of the organ. At the 0 stage, due to the very small size of the tumor, most patient so not experience any symptoms.

However, at the later stage of the tumor progression, if undetected, the large size of the tumor can suppress and break the nearby small blood vessel, leading to internal bleeding and severe if the tumor also suppresses the nearby nerve cells.

Primary cancer cells at this advanced stage can also travel a distance away from the original site to affect other healthy tissue and organs, leading to secondary metastasis.

Symptoms of cancer at this stage are totally depended on the affected area, including vomiting blood in oral and lung cancers blood in the urine in bladder cancer. hoarseness in throat cancer. ... Persistent lumps in the breast and lymph cancer and indigestion or difficulty swallowing in digestive related cancers.

Researchers do not know the exact causes of cancers, but they do know, according to epidemiological studies that age, alcohol cancer, chronic Inflammation, genetic proposition, unhealthy diet, change of hormones use of immunosuppression, infectious agents, obesity, exposure to radiation and sunlight, use of tobacco are most common risk factors associated with the onset of some specific cancers.

Some researchers in the investigation of weakened immune function in risk of cancer suggested people with a weakened immune system lost the function
1) to stimulate the T cells inactivation of the B cells in the production of p53, a tumor suppressor gene, or antioncogene that inhibits the cancer cell proliferation and tumor development and

2) to simulate the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines to kill off the DNA alternated damage cells in the acute phase of inflammation.

In other words, if you have a strong immune system, your risk of cancer is substantially lower compared to the general public.

Butterbur, found in wet, marshy, damp land, including wetland, riverside, forest, etc., is a creeping underground plant, genus Petasites of 15 -20 species, belonging to the family Asteraceae, native to Northern Hemisphere. the herbal plant has been used in herbal medicine used as a pain reliever in the digestive system, including stomach, bile ducts, and duodenum, etc.

The chemical constituents of Butterbur include Petioles, petasitene and pethybrene, quercetin 3-O-beta-D-glucoside, quercetin 3-O-beta-D-6''-O-acetylglucoside, and rutin, caffeic acid, alkaloids, S-petasin, and iso-S-petasin, etc.

The Shandong University at Weihai, on the finding a natural compound for the treatment of cancer with no side effects examined a new bakkenolide isolated from Butterbur anti-cancer effects.

The new bakkenolide exerted a potent cytotoxic activity against a number of cultured human cancer cells, including human cervical carcinoma (HeLa), human breast cancer (MCF-7) and murine Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) cell lines.

According to the National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service in vitro methanol extract from the leaves in the rat liver epithelial cells. significantly decreased spontaneous beta-galactosidase activity and beta-galactosidase activity induced by a mutagen.

Elevated beta-galactosidase (beta-gal) enzyme activity is an indication of the tumor and metastatic expression.

All doses of the extract (0.08-100 mg/plate) decreased the reversion frequency induced by benzo (alpha)pyrene (BaP) in S. Typhimurium TA 98 of the Salmonella typhimurium.

Additional analysis of the experiment, PJ extract showed greater cytotoxic effects on human stomach, colon, and uterus cancer cells than on other cancer cell types and normal rat liver epithelial cells.

Furthermore, PJ significantly increased the numbers of gap junction proteins associated with tumor suppression in a dose-dependent manner.

Dr. the lead scientist said, "Based on these findings, PJ is suggested to contain antimutagenic and anticarcinogenic compounds".

Taken altogether, herbal Butterbur may be considered a functional remedy for the prevention and combined with the primary medicine for the treatment of cancers.

Whole Food Honey, the Best Remedy for the Prevention and Treatment of Reflux Esophagitis

Scientists may have found a natural alternative for the treatment of reflux esophagitis, some studies found.
Acid Reflux or heartburn is a condition characterized by the going back up of acidic stomach contents to the esophagus. Most cases of acid reflux are happened immediately after eating causing a burning sensation or pain in the lower chest area.
According to the statistics, in the US, approximately, 20% of people with acid reflux will develop gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). More than 65% of people who suffer from acid reflux are 40 years old or older. And, 15 to 30 5 of the U.S. population has GERD.
Too much tea, coffee, and alcohol smoking pregnancy, obesity, eating habits such as eating close to bedtime, eating a large meal, eating fatty and fried foods are some of the risk factors that initiate to the early onset of acid reflux, according to the epidemiological studies.
Believe it or not, long-term intake of certain medication such as bronchodilators for asthma, progestin for birth control or to treat abnormal menstrual bleeding, sedatives for insomnia and anxiety, calcium channel blockers for high blood pressure.

Dr. Zeynel Mungan and colleagues in examing the medication risk of GERD wrote, "Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which is common in many communities, is associated with structural factors, eating habits, and the use of certain drugs".

And, "The use of such drugs can lead to the emergence of GERD and can also exacerbate existing reflux symptoms. These drugs can contribute to GERD by directly causing mucosal damage, by reducing lower esophageal sphincter pressure (LESP), or by affecting esophagogastric motility".

Therefore, if you currently taking some of the aforementioned medication, please make sure that you know all the side effects for preventive measure.

Honey is the miraculous product made by bees using nectar from flowers.
The rich golden liquid It is considered one of healthy sweet food for replacing the use of white sugar and artificial sweetener by many people.
Scientists on the finding a natural remedy for the treatment of acid reflux investigated the honey effect on reflux oesophagitis (RE).

Injection honey displayed a strong effect on reflux oesophagitis through inhibiting the free radical expression which has been found to be mediators in the generation of RE.

Furthermore, besides inhibiting the over expression of free radicals, honey also promoted the production of antioxidants enzymes in the host, leading to the balanced ratio of free radical and antioxidant in the body.

Moreover, honey injection also reduced the levels of inflammation by inhibiting the nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2 production associated with free radical and inflammation, respectively.

The effects of honey against RE also attributed to the nature of high density, high viscosity, and low surface tension, that make them stay longer in the esophagus as a coating on the mucous membrane.

Additionally, researchers also found that the anti-RE activity of honey was also due to its nonperoxide antibacterial activity.

The findings suggested honey inhibits the onset of progression RE through a number of mechanisms, including proteins associated with the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and antioxidant enzymes produced by the honey and the host.

Taken altogether, honey may be considered a functional remedy for the prevention and combined with the primary therapy for the treatment of reflux esophagitis.

Herbal Bilberry Modulates the Expression of Energy Metabolism, According to Scientists

Bilberry may be the next potential target by the pharmaceutical companies to extract a single ingredient medicine for improvement of energy metabolism, according to studies.

Energy metabolism is a process to generate energy from protein, fat and carbohydrate or fat already stored in the body.

Although carbohydrates and fat are considered the major sources of energy in the diet, protein is necessary for all kinds of biological processes but less in the direct production of energy purposes.

Energy metabolism alterations are found associated with a large number of diseases including mitochondrial diseases, acute coronary syndrome, chronic kidney disease, asthma or even cancer.

And, energy metabolism alternation can also affect all organs and tissues functioning.

Certain factors can increase and decrease the rate of energy metabolism, such as the immune cells require energy to maintain cellular viability and to perform specific immune functions, including
* Body size such as weight and heigh

* Body composition: fat tissue has a lower metabolic activity than muscle tissue.

* Aging: decrease muscle mass decrease energy metabolism.

* Gender women have a slow rate of energy metabolism compared to men.

Dr. Prabhakar, the lead scientist in the investigation of the energy metabolism on obesity, said, "Energy used by the body is described in terms of the metabolic rate underlying passive and active conditions which are further correlated to body weight".

And, "Energy metabolism and the role of carbohydrates, lipids, and protein in foods are areas of emerging research with a therapeutic approach against obesity and related biological disorders". of e

The results strongly suggested that if you are obese, you are at higher risk of diseases associated with a decreased rate of energy metabolism, such as insulin resistance.

Bilberry is a species of low-growing shrubs in the genus Vaccinium, belonging to the family Ericaceae, native to Northern Europe.

The herbal plant has been used as foods and herbs in traditional medicine for the treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea, gastritis, gastric ulcer, and duodenal ulcer, enterocolitis, ulcerative colitis, anemia, cystitis, kidney disease, and psoriasis, diabetes, etc.

Researchers on finding the natural ingredient for the improvement of energy metabolism investigated the bilberry activity in genes expressed in the intestinal mucosa which is responsible for nutrient absorption and waste secretion.

Injection of bilberry improved the intestinal barrier functioning by enhancing the balance of gut microbiota, thus increasing the absorption of the nutrients.

Furthermore, male C57BL/6J mice (n = 52) selected to the study received a control low-fat diet (LFD; 10 kcal% fat) for 6 weeks followed by 24 weeks of either LFD (n = 13) or high-fat diet (HFD; 45 kcal% fat; n = 13) or HFD supplemented with 0.1% w/w of the flavanol compound epicatechin (HFD+E; n = 13) or an anthocyanin-rich bilberry extract (HFD+B; n = 13), researchers found that
* The switch from an LFD to an HFD increases the plasma cholesterol and hepatic lipid content in non-anthocyanin-rich bilberry extract treatment group.

* The polyphenol compounds in the HFD supplemented with 0.1% w/w of the flavanol compound epicatechin could not prevent HFD-induced systemic rise of inflammatory levels compared to the bilberry treatment group.

* The findings strongly supported the use of supplementation of HFD with an anthocyanin-rich bilberry extract for the beneficial effects on the systemic early inflammatory response associated with HFD-induced obesity.

Dr. the leads scientist wrote, "On the tissue level, long-term treatment with bilberry attenuated TNF-α expression in adipose tissue".

In other words, the intake of anthocyanin-rich bilberry extract lowers the level of systemic inflammation in the adipose tissue against the onset of metabolic syndrome-associated chronic pathologies.

Taken altogether, bilberry may be considered a functional remedy to improve the intestinal barrier functioning in energy metabolism by reducing the intestinal inflammation and promoting healthy adipocytes.

Herbal Artichoke Inhibits Hepatitis C Virus Against Liver Infection

Scientists may have found a natural remedy for the treatment of hepatitis C infection with no side effects, according to studies.

Hepatitis C infection is an inflammatory liver disease associated with viral hepatitis C. The viral infection has affected over a million Americans today according to the statistic.

Epidemiological studies suggested that persistent infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major risk for the development of HCC, the fifth most common cancer, and the third most common cause for cancer death in the world.

Contaminated blood and fluids are the most common causes of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.

Hepatitis C induces liver cancer through many stages including
* The incubation period which lasts about 45 days after exposing to the virus.

* Acute hepatitis, the short-term illness may last about 6 months. Most people can get rid of the virus in this stage, particularly to those with the strong immune system.

* Chronic hepatitis C if you can not get rid of the virus in the acute stage, the immune system will adapt to the new change, leading to chronic liver inflammation by the hep C virus.

* Cirrhosis, the liver scar, normally is formed due to the progression of the inflammation. Cirrhosis can be developed over a period of 20 years, after initial exposure to the virus.

* Liver cancer, the death of liver cells due to overexpression of liver scars.

Dr. Gremion C, the lead scientist in the attempt to explain the risk hepatitis C and immune system, said, "While a persistent infection is generally associated with a weak CD4+ and CD8+ T cell response during the acute phase, there is no good explanation as to why this response is strong enough in 20% of acutely infected people such that they spontaneously resolve the infection".

The results strongly suggested that if you have a strong immune system, your risk of hepatitis C infection can be resolved naturally.

Artichoke is a perennial thistle of Cynara cardunculus species of the Cynara genus, belonging to the family Carduoideae native to Southern Europe around the Mediterranean.

The herbal plant has been used in traditional medicine as a liver protective and detoxified agent, and to treat digestive disorders, abdominal pain gas and bloating, etc.

Researchers on finding a natural ingredient for the treatment of hepatitis C which presently affects millions of people globally examined the traditional use of Egyptian artichoke (WEA) for the treatment of HCV-infection and complications.

Injection of water extract of a WEA plant decreased the HCV viral load below the detection level in 12 out of 15 patients. In other words, artichoke exerted strong anti-HCV infection, depending on the state of the severity of the disease.

Furthermore, the water extract normalized the levels of enzymes associated with liver function and damage.

Moreover, The total WEA extract at IC50 ∼ 20 μg ml(-1), inhibited abnormal expression of genes in patients with hepatitis C infection, involving in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids (CYP2B6 (OH-BUP)) and the formation and breakdown (metabolism) of various molecules and chemicals within cells (CYP2C19 (5-OH-OME)).

WEA was found to be more effective in inhibiting hepatitis C infection compared to the Hepar SL Forte(®) due to the presence of sesquiterpenes versus the abundance of phenolic compounds of the Hepar SL Forte(®).

In chemicals analysis, grosheimol and cynaropicrin, isolated from the WEA showed the most inhibitory effect against HCV with half-maximal effective concentrations (EC50s) in the low micromolar range.

Both tested compounds inhibited HCV entry into target cells in both cell-free infections and cell-cell transmission.

Both compounds belong to the group of sesquiterpene lactones which are found in the WEA but not in the Hepar SL Forte(®).

The results clearly supported the use of WEA in traditional use for the treatment of liver viral infection and complications.

Taken altogether, herbal Artichoke may be considered a functional remedy for the prevention and treatment of HCV infection, pending to the confirmation of larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Herbal Ginger, the Potential Anti-Septic Functional Remedy, Scientists Show

On seeking a natural therapy with no side effects, scientists may have found a kitchen pungent spice for the prevention and treatment of sepsis, according to studies.

Sepsis is a medical condition caused by the body over-response to infection by releasing a large number of chemicals into the bloodstream, leading to chemicals imbalance that can damage multiple organ systems.

Most common sites of infection leading to sepsis are found in older patients with the lungs, urinary tract, tummy (abdomen) and pelvis.

The causes of sepsis, in most cases, are involved in people with a weakened immune system or a severe infection that allow the inflammation to spread to the entire body.

Sepsis can be life-threatening due to the interruption of blood flow to the body caused by inflammation in the induction of blood vessel constriction.

The risk factors of sepsis include any medical conditions which can lead to a weakened immune system, such as AIDs and chemotherapy, the very young (immature immune system) and old (weakened immune system due to aging), pregnancy and diabetes.

Most common symptoms of sepsis are associated with symptoms of reduced blood flow, including, a decrease in mental ability, problems breathing. abnormal heart functions, fall blood pressure, fall in body temperature. unconsciousness.

If your child or yourself experience some of the above symptoms, please call the emergency services right the way.

Some researchers suggested that people who are obese may have a negative implication on the immune system in fighting against infection that can cause sepsis.

Dr. A S Kolyva, the lead scientists said, "Sepsis is one of the most important causes of mortality in the developed world, where almost two-thirds of the population suffer from obesity".

And, "Obesity is associated with elevated TNFα adipose tissue production and increased oxidative stress biomarkers, promoting the proinflammatory response in septic patients".

These results strongly suggested that obesity may induce overexpression of proinflammatory cytokines that not only initiates the onset of sepsis and also increases the potential negative impact on the outcome.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) or ginger root, the second superfood used for thousands of years by mankind, is the genus Zingiber, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to Tamil.

The root has been used in traditional and Chinese medicine to treat dyspepsia, gastroparesis, constipation, edema, difficult urination, colic, etc.

With an aim to find a natural compound or food for the treatment of sepsis, researchers investigated the effects of a phenolic alkanone isolated from ginger in various pharmacological activities, including sepsis.

Injection of ginger exerted a modulatory effect on HMGB1-mediated septic responses and survival rate in a mouse model of sepsis.

The modulation of ginger was attributed to the suppression of the production of the inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6 and the activation of proteins associated with inflammation induced by HMGB.

High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) is a protein associated with the immune protective response by restoring the endothelial cells which line the interior surface of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels integrity.

Furthermore, injection of ginger also inhibited HMGB1-mediated hyperpermeability and leukocyte migration in the initiation of inflammation in mice.

Moreover, in vivo, ginger inhibited the lymphopoiesis (CLP) in stimulating the production of the release of HMGB1, sepsis-related mortality, and tissue injury.

In order to reveal more information about ginger antisepsis activity, researchers examined zingerone (ZGR), a bioactive compound isolated from ginger on TGFBIp-mediated septic responses.

Similar to that of the above, ZGR reduced the TGFBIp-mediated severe inflammatory responses in human endothelial cells and mice.

Injection of ZGR suppressed TGFBIp-induced sepsis lethality and pulmonary injury.

Dr. Min G, the lead scientist, after taking into account co and confounders wrote in the final report, "ZGR could be a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of various severe vascular inflammatory diseases via inhibition of the TGFBIp signaling pathway".

Taken altogether, ginger may be considered a functional remedy for the treatment of sepsis, pending to the confirmation of larger sample size and multicenter human study.
