Obesity is a medical condition of excess body fat accumulated overtime, while overweight is a condition of excess body weight relatively to the height. According to the Body Mass Index(BMI), a BMI between 25 to 29.9 is considered over weight, while a BMI of over 30 is an indication of obesity. According to the statistic, 68% of American population are either overweight or obese.

You can calculate your BMI index BMI= weight (kg)/ height (m2)

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is defined as endocrinologic diseases caused by undeveloped follicles clumping on the ovaries that interferes with the function of the normal ovaries as resulting of enlarged ovaries, leading to hormone imbalance( excessive androgen), resulting in male pattern hair development, acne, irregular period or absence of period, weight gain and effecting fertility. It effects over 5% of women population or 1 in 20 women.

The Studies of  Platelet-derived microparticles in overweight/obese women with the polycystic ovary syndrome

A substantial proportion of women with the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are obese and obesity is considered as a prothrombotic state. Platelet-derived microparticles (PMPs) might be implicated in the activation of the coagulation cascade. In the study to assess plasma PMPs in overweight/obese women with PCOS. We measured plasma PMPs and determined anthropometric, metabolic, hormonal and ultrasonographic features of PCOS in 67 overweight/obese women with PCOS (with body mass index [BMI] >25.0 kg/m(2)) and in 21 BMI-matched healthy women, posed in PubMed, found that Circulating androgens and markers of insulin resistance (IR) were higher in women with PCOS than in controls. Plasma PMPs were also higher in women with PCOS than in controls (p = 0.046). In women with PCOS, plasma PMPs correlated with the mean number of follicles in the ovaries (r = 0.343; p = 0.006). In controls, plasma PMPs did not correlate with any of the studied parameters.

                    Overcome Infertility

Infertility is defined as inability of a couple to conceive after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse. It effects over 5 millions couple alone in the U. S. and many times more in the world. Because of unawareness of treatments, only 10% seeks help from professional specialist.

Post-coital/Cervical Mucus Test of Male Infertility In Conventional medicine Perspective

I. Definition
The Post-coital or cervical mucus test is to analyze the sperm present and motility.

II. Procedure
1. The test may be done after sperm is ejaculated into the vagina after sexual intercourse of the infertile couple.
2. It can be done through the test tube by placing the cervical mucus with semen sperm of infertile couple.

III. Diagnosis
1. Sperm penetration
It is a measure of the ability of the sperm to undergo the process of egg penetration. It includes DNA and enzymes that are needed for penetration and fertilization.

2. Sperm movement
The test is to check the sperm for any type of movement including progressively motile sperm which swims forward in a straight line and non-progressively motile sperm which swims in an abnormal path.

3. Cervical mucus analysis
It checks if the cervical mucus is friendly or hostile to sperm invasion because during the fertile period there is an increase in cervical mucus production at the ovulation and the mucus becoming more pliable, stretchable, and slippery which allow sperm to move freely through the cervix. If the sperm can not move through the cervical mucus in this period than there are 2 outcomes
a) Sperm problem and other tests may be required before treatment.
b) Cervical mucus abnormality ( sperm unfriendly mucus) and treatment may be required.

Among elderly men, cancer of the prostate (451 per 100,000), the lung (449 per 100,000) and the colon (176 per 100,000) make up around half of all diagnosed cancers. Prostate cancer is around 22 times more frequent among elderly men than among younger men. The corresponding most frequent cancers among elderly women, making up 48% of all malignant cancers, are breast (248 per 100,000), colon (133 per 100,000), lung (118 per 100,000) and stomach cancer (75 per 100,000), According to the Danish Cancer Society, Institute of Cancer Epidemiology(PubMed)

Cancer is a class of diseases in which a group of cells growing and multiplying disordered and uncontrollable way in our body, have become progressively worse and damaged other healthy tissues, sometimes spreads to other organs in the body via lymph or blood and results may be in death.

                             Prostate Cancer

Prostate warped around the around a tube (the urethra) is a gland of the male reproductive system found in front of the rectum and just below the bladder and responsible for making some of semen that carries sperm.

Prostate cancer is defined as a condition in which the cells of prostate has become cancerous, causing abnormal cell growth which spread to the distant parts of the body. Most prostate cancers are slow growing and enlarged prostate and prostate cancer may be detected during the Physical (rectum) exams.

The Prevention - How to avoid

1. Safe sexSexual transmitting diseases, such as are known to associated with higher risk of prostate cancer. Men have several sex partner should consider the use of condom.

2. Reduce drinking and take folate supplement
Risk of prostate cancer is much high for men with excessive drinking habit and folate deficiency.

3. Walking
Researchers found that walking at least three hours a week slow the progression of prostate cancer by a rate of 57 per cent or even prevent the development of prostate cancer.

4. Physical activity
Physical activity such as exercise, walking, swimming, etc. can reduce levels of the chemicals that stimulate cancer growth and metabolism of proteins released by fat cells.

5. Avoid Diet high in red meat
In the October 6th issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, researchers found that Men who diet high in red meat are at higher risk of prostate cancer.

6. Drinking your milk
Milk contains high amount of vitamin D that can reduce the risk of prostate cancer caused by vitamin D deficiency in the blood.

                                 Dietary Minerals

Dietary Minerals are the group of minerals which is essential for our body to sustain normal functions and physical health.

                                      Chromium(chromium 3+)

Chromium(chromium 3+) is a essential mineral for the body in fat and carbohydrate metabolism, found abundantly in Beef, Eggs, Chicken, Oysters, Wheat germ, Green peppers, Banana, Apple, Etc.

Metabolic and physiologic response to chromium supplementation

In the study to to provide a comprehensive evaluation of chromium (Cr) supplementation on metabolic parameters in a cohort of type 2 diabetes mellitus subjects representing a wide phenotype range and to evaluate changes in "responders" and "nonresponders.", found that clinical response to Cr is more likely in insulin-resistant subjects who have more elevated fasting glucose and A(1c) levels. Chromium may reduce myocellular lipids and enhance insulin sensitivity in subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus who do respond clinically independent of effects on weight or hepatic glucose production(3).

                                   Colitis

Colitis is defined as a condition of inflammation of the large intestine, including the colon, caecum and rectum.

                             Types of Colitis

According to the study by Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, types of colitis include
microscopic colitis, ischemic colitis, segmental colitis associated with diverticula, radiation colitis, diversion colitis, eosinophilic colitis and Behcet's colitis(a).

  The Diet

Diet to prevent colitis
1. Glutamine, dietary fiber, and Oligosaccharide (GFO)
According to the study to whether GFO has suppressive effects on mucosal damage in ulcerative colitis in an experimental mouse model, showed that intestinal inflammation was significantly attenuated in mice treated with GFO. Furthermore, treatment with GFO significantly inhibited the dextran sulfate sodium-induced increase in the mRNA expression of interleukin-1β. As GFO may have a potential therapeutic value as an adjunct therapy for ulcerative colitis(52).

2. Low-fat diets, medium-chain triglycerides, and perhaps omega-3 fatty acids and Fermentable fiber
According to the study by , in regarding the possible therapeutic role of somedietary components in IBD, low-fat diets seem to be particularly useful. Also, some lipid sources, such as olive oil, medium-chain triglycerides, and perhaps omega-3 fatty acids, might have a therapeutic effect. Fermentable fiber may have a role in preventing relapses in inactive UC(53).

3. Avoid Zinc deficiency
Zinc deficiency may cause a modulation of TNFα production of that can influence disease activity in DSS-induced colitis(54). Other study indicated that DSS induces colonic inflammation which is modulated by the administration of anti-TNFα. Combining anti-TNFα with Zn acetate offers marginal benefit in colitisseverity(55).

4. Glutamine
In the study to investigate the role of L-glutamine and short-chain fatty acids, both via enema and oral administration, on mucosal healing in experimental colitis by UludaÄź University, School of Medicine, Bursa, showed that L-glutamine enema can accelerate mucosal healing and regeneration in experimentally induced colitis in rats. When compared to glutamine in this study, short-chain fatty acids showed no beneficial effect on colitis(56).

5. Soybean and fish oil mixture
Soybean and fish oil mixture may be effective in improving colonic injury and DNA damage, and it could be an important complementary therapy in UC to reduce the use of anti-inflammatory drugs and prevent colorectal cancer, according to the study by the Universidade Federal de SĂŁo Paulo(57). Other suggested that the soybean and fish oil mixture, more than the fish oil alone, could be a complementary therapy to achieve a cytokine balance in UC(58).

6. Nutritional and probiotic supplementation
Dietary supplementation with essential nutrients known to be in short supply in thediet in IBD patients and with other molecules believed to provide beneficial anti-inflammatory effects, as well as with probiotic organisms that stimulate immune functions and resistance to infection has been tested in colitis models(59).

7. Risk of colitis in Monotonous dietary intake
The relapsing nature and varying geographical prevalence of ulcerative colitis (UC) implicates environmental factors such as diet in its aetiology study showed that
monotonous dietary intake may decrease mammalian vulnerability against colitisin association with microbiota separation(60).

8. Blueberry husks, rye bran and multi-strain probiotics
Acombination of probiotics and blueberry husks or rye bran enhanced the anti-inflammatory effects compared with probiotics or dietary fibres alone. These combinations can be used as a preventive or therapeutic approach to dietary amelioration of intestinal inflammation(61).

In summerization, we would like to quote the study by Medical Department, Viborg Regional Hospital, "Established non-diet risk factors include family predisposition, smoking, appendectomy, and antibiotics. Retrospective case-control studies are encumbered with methodological problems. Prospective studies on European cohorts, mainly including middle-aged adults, suggest that a diet high in protein from meat and fish is associated with a higher risk of inflammatory bowel disease. Intake of the n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid linoleic acid may confer risk of ulcerative colitis, whereas n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids may be protective. No effect was found of intake of dietary fibres, sugar, macronutrients, total energy, vitamin C, D, E, Carotene, or Retinol (vitamin A) on risk of ulcerative colitis. No prospective data was found on risk related to intake of fruits, vegetables or food microparticles (titanium dioxide and aluminium silicate)"(61a).

Phytochemials are defined as a group of chemical compound found naturally in plants, including fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, etc. Many studies have proven that they can because of certain phytochemicals, but for what ever reason, there are either no clinical trials follow through or the studies can not make to stage of clinical trials. Do not expect the pharmateutical or foods industrial companies to pay for the researches, as the discovery of the phytochemicals to cure cancers can only dampen the profits of both industries as phytochemicals can not be patented.

Cancer is a class of diseases in which a group of cells growing and multiplying disordered and uncontrollable way in our body, have become progressively worse and damaged other healthy tissues, sometimes spreads to other organs in the body via lymph or blood and results may be in death.
Food intake can help to prevent and treat cancers.

             Kidney Cancer (Renal Cell Carcinoma)

Kidney is an essential organ of our body, beside it is best known for its function in the urinary system, it also regulates regulation of electrolytes, blood pressure, maintains acid-base balance, produces hormone calcitriol, renin, and erythropoietin, etc. In the urinary system, kidney filters blood with billions of glomeruli by separating the cells of blood from plasma. As the plasma passing into the tubules, some necessary substances are reabsorbed back into the blood, while others waste, such as urea and ammonium are stored into pelvis then into the ureter to the bladder.

I. Renal cell carcinoma (Kidney cancer/renal cells)
Renal cell carcinoma is a type of kidney cancer caused by malignant cells of the limning of the tubules in the kidney. It tends first to spread via bloodstream and the second tumor generally found in the lung, but it may also spread to lymph nodes and other organs as well.

II. Types of Food to prevent and treat Renal cell carcinoma (Kidney cancer/renal cells)
1. Turmeric
Curcumin (1,7-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1E,6E-heptadiene-3,5-dione or diferuloyl methane) is a polyphenol derived from the Curcuma longa plant, commonly known as turmeric.Dr. Kössler S and scientists at the Paracelsus Medical University, in the study of Curcumin affects cell survival and cell volume regulation in human renal and intestinal cells showed that Curcumin exposure induces apoptosis in human kidney cells, and at a concentration of 5.0-10 μM induces the appearance of a sub-population of cells with a dramatically increased volume. In these cells the regulation of the cell volume seems to be impaired, most likely as a consequence of the ICl(swell) blockade. Similarly, 50 μMcurcumin induced apoptosis, caused cell cycle arrest in G1-phase and increased the volume of human colorectal adenocarcinoma HT-29 cells. The cell cycle arrest in G1 phase may be the mechanism underlying the volume increase observed in this cell line after exposure to curcumin

2. Green tea
EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) is a phytochemical found in green tea has showed to protect against the proliferation of renal cell carcinoma. "Before and after EGCG treatment, real-time methylation specific PCR could not detect methylation status of TFPI-2 gene promoter in cell line 786-0. In vivo invasiveness and metastasis test did not indicate any significant differences between control and treatment group. Our results suggest that EGCG inhibits growth and induces apoptosis in renal cell carcinoma through TFPI-2 overexpression. This is the first report showing that EGCG is likely to be an effective agent for renal cell carcinoma" said scientists at the Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University(2).

3. Skins of grape and red wine
Resveratrol (Res) is a phytochemical in the class of Stilbenoids, found abundantly in skins and seed of grape wine, nuts, peanuts, etc. has potential to be used in treating kidney cancer. In the study to investigated the effects of Res on the expression of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene and on cell proliferation in human renal cancer (786-0) cells, suggested that Res inhibited the expression of the VEGF gene, and its inhibitory effect increased according to the concentration and treatment time. These results indicate that Res significantly inhibits the proliferation of 786-0 cells and exerts an antitumor effect by suppressing the expression of the VEGF gene(3).

4. Garlic
Aiallyl trisulfide (allitride), a phytochemical found in garlic has a potential effect in protect against renal cancer cells. Dr. Liu H and research team at the Henan University Huaihe hospital, said " Allitride kill Ketr-3 effectively by inducing apoptosis. Cell cycle arrest and up-regulation of Caspase-3 may play an important role in the mechanisms of killing effect"(4).

5. Bilberries and cranberries
Triterpenoid, is a group of phytochemicals found in Bilberries and cranberries. In the study to investigate the effect of the synthetic triterpenoid C-28 methyl ester of 2-cyano-3,12-dioxooleana-1,9,-dien-28-oic acid (CDDO-Me; bardoxolone methyl) in MC38 colon carcinoma, Lewis lung carcinoma, and EL-4 thymoma mouse tumor models, as well as blood samples from patients with renal cell cancer and soft tissue sarcoma, indicated that CDDO-Me abrogated the immune suppressive effect of MDSCs and improved immune responses in tumor-bearing mice andcancer patients. It may represent an attractive therapeutic option by enhancing the effect of cancer immunotherapy
