High blood pressure or hypertension is a medical condition characterized by abnormally high blood pressure in the arteries. High blood pressure is also a condition in the cluster of metabolic syndrome that increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood.
Although at the early stage, high blood pressure usually does not cause symptoms, some patients in extreme cases may experience dizziness and light head, shortness of breath, nosebleeds, flushing, chest pain and visual changes.
Underlying medical conditions such as kidney disease and long term stress are associated with high blood pressure.
More precisely, according to the American hypertension Association, long-term untreated high blood pressure can induce complications such as
* Heart attack is casued by damages arteries due to high blood pressure that leads to the blockage or limited blood flow to the heart muscle.
* Stroke, damage blood vessels in the brain may be clogged and burst.
* Heart failure, high blood pressure increases the risk of enlarged-heart that limits the heart function in blood circulation
Conventional hypertensive medications have undoubtedly prevented many deaths from heart disease in the past 30 years, but they have many side effects.
If you current taking hypertensive medicine, please make sure you know all the side effects for the preventive measure.
Some researchers also found that excessive energy intake and obesity are major causes of hypertension.
Dr. Savica V, the lead author in the study "The effect of nutrition on blood pressure" wrote, "Obesity is associated with increased activity of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone and sympathetic nervous systems, possibly other mineralocorticoid activity, insulin resistance, salt-sensitive hypertension, and excess salt intake, and reduced kidney function".
High sodium chloride intake strongly predisposes to hypertension".
"Increased alcohol consumption may acutely elevate blood pressure. High intakes of potassium, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and protein, along with exercise and possibly vitamin D, may reduce blood pressure".
The small, white navy bean, also called pea bean or haricot, popular in both dry and green forms, is very popular in Britain and the US, native to Peru. It is now grown and consumed across the world, due to their numerous health benefits.
With an aim to find a potential ingredient for the treatment of hypertension, researchers investigated the inhibitory activities of the navy bean by preparation of navy bean milk (NBM) subjected to fermentation of four lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains, namely, Lactobacillus helveticus MB2-1, Lactobacillus plantarum B1-6, and Lactobacillus plantarum 70810.
According to the tested assays, all fermented NBM showed higher angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity compared to the unfermented ones.
By comparison of each strain, researchers found that 2 h, 3 h, and 5 h are the optimum fermentation periods for respectively L. plantarum 70810, L. plantarum B1-6 and L. bulgaricus.
Compared to the IC value without causing an intestinal disturbance, the extracts fermented by L. plantarum B1-6 exerted the lowest IC50 value of 21 ± 2.1 μg protein ml(-1).
Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) is a central component of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), which controls blood pressure by regulating the volume of fluids in the body.
In other words, the effect of LAB fermentation on the degradation of navy lean proteins and the capacity to release ACE inhibitory peptides may have a strong effect in the inhibition of hypertension.
Dr. Rui X, after taking other factors into account wrote, "The approach was promising to obtain probiotic products with the potential to serve as functional ingredients targeting hypertension".
Taken altogether, the fermented navy bean may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of hypertension, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Green Tea and Green Tea Bioactive Catechins and Epigallocatechin Gallate in Reduced Risk and Progression and Treatment of Kidney Cancer
Green tea may have a substantial and sustainable effect in reduced risk and treatment of renal cancer, some scientists suggested.
Green tea, a precious drink processes numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world. However, as yin in nature herbal medicine or food, long term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, induced "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weaken immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.
Kidney cancer is medical condition characterized by irregular cell growth in the tissues of kidney. At the later stage, the cancerous cell may travel a distance away to invade other healthy tissues and organs.
According to statistic, kidney cancer is very uncommon in people younger than age 45 and among the 10 most common cancers in both gender.
Investigation of green tea effect in risk of renal cancer was found to associate to different implications involved numbers of mechanisms, particularly, in green tea bioactive components.
According to the evaluated 250 newly diagnosed, histologically confirmed Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC) cases and 299 sex-, age-matched healthy controls provided complete information by face-to-face interview in Shanghai between 2007 and 2009, application of green tea at dose of ≥500 ml/d demonstrated a significantly inverse association to risk of CCRCC.
Indeed, green tea consumption of lower than the said volume such as 8 oz (237 ml) or more cups/day was also associated to decrease renal cell cancer risk, in compared to non drinkers, according to the report of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
Further analysis also found that interactions with the environmental exposures association to polymorphisms of the xenobiotic-metabolizing enzymes in induced CCRCC risk, also inhibited by green tea extract through increasing serum and liver antioxidant capacity and strengthening stability of microsomal and lysosomal membranes of healthy cells in compared to control.
In free radical aspect, the examine Wistar rats induced renal cancer pre-treated with N-ethyl-N-hydroxyethylnitrosamine (EHEN) by oral injection of drinking water for 2 weeks, also found that administration of green tea extract catechin ( 0.1% polyphenon-60) over 30 weeks of period of treatment exhibits a significant effect in decreased the incidence of renal cell tumors greater than 3 mm in diameter but not tumors that are less than 3 mm in diameter, through overexpression of antioxidant in suppression of reactive oxygen species (ROS) induced by N-ethyl-N-hydroxyethylnitrosamine (EHEN) pre-treatment.
Importantly, in alternated gene expression in increased prevalence of cancer in human subjects,
application of green tea polyphenol, catechins have been reported to reverse change of DNA methylation in contributed to the tumor repressive gene of RGS2 (regulator of G-protein signaling 2) in modulated expression of cancers and increased the regulation of conversion of DNA to RNA (transcription) of these genes in ameliorated risk of renal and other cancer(s).
Furthermore, application of the combination of green tea extract bioactive catechins and epigallocatechin gallate also showed to modulate DNA methylation by attenuating the effect of DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) to ensure the fidelity of replication of inherited epigenetic patterns.
Aberrant DNA methylation patterns are associated with increased prevalence of renal and other tumor(s).
Taken together, Green Tea and its polyphenols bioactive compound catechins and epigallocatechin gallate may have a potential and therapeutic effect in reduced risk and treatment of renal cancer through antioxidants and antigene alternative activities.

Green Tea Bioactive Epigallo-catechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in Reduced Risk, Progression and Treatment of and Neuro-Degenerative Diseases
Green tea is found to consist of substantial and respectful effect in reduced risk, progression, and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, some scientists opinionated.
Neurodegenerative diseases are a class of conditions characterized by deteriorating neurons and accumulated plaque in blocking the neurotransmitters of the brain and spinal cords in performance of normal functions.
According to the statistic, approximately, 5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease, 1 million from Parkinson's and 400,000 from multiple sclerosis (MS) today, inducing overwhelming social, economic and health care burden on society.
The differentiation of green tea bioactive constituents in the risk of neuro-degenerative diseases was found to associate to numbers of the mechanism through many different aspects.
The investigation of green tea bioactive epigallocatechin-gallate (EGCG) activities in lipopolysaccharide- (LPS-) mediated systemic inflammation in the induction of neurodegenerative diseases suggested that application of green tea chemical constituent demonstrated a significant effect in ameliorated LPS induced expression of proinflammatory cytokines of tumor necrosis factor alpha TNF-α, a cell signaling protein involved in systemic inflammation in the acute phase of infection, and interleukin 1 beta (IL1β), an cytokine with function in the regulation of immune and inflammatory responses to infections or sterile insults and interleukin 6 (IL-6) involved in inflammation and infection responses, particularly, in the inhibition of the expressions of inflammatory cytokines in the mononuclear blood cells (PBMCs), consisting lymphocytes (T cells, B cells, NK cells) with function to clear away of debris in the infection site.
The activation of inflammatory cytokines expression caused by lipopolysaccharide- (LPS) injection can trigger neurotoxicity, leading to neurons brains progressive degeneration, resulting in elevated risk of neurodegenerative diseases.
Application of green tea bioactive epigallocatechin-gallate (EGCG) was found not only inhibited LPS in precipitation of toxicity in resolved inflammation and mediated neuroprotection but also exerted anti toxicity through its antioxidant activity in decreased expression of reactive oxygen species in triggered brain cell apoptosis.
Interleukin 6 (IL-6) acts as both pro-inflammatory cytokines and anti-inflammatory cytokines with function involved inflammation responses at sites of acute and chronic infection.
Further analysis of green tea Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in the aspect of ROS in risk of neurodegeneration in the dentate gyrus, part of the hippocampus and/or hippocampal formation of C57Bl/6 mice, suggested that the application promoted neural precursor cell, (a partially differentiated cell) proliferation, without changes at the level of immature and mature new neurons.
Interestingly, in adult hippocampal neurogenesis in male Balb/C mice, injection of green tea bioactive compounds in different doses also expressed a strong implication of increased cells survival without affecting cell proliferation but decreasing apoptotic cells.
The increased production of neuro precursor cell in stimulated neuron generation and increased cell survival from green tea was attributed to the green tea antioxidants acted as free radical scavengers to ameliorate chain reaction stimulated by reactive oxygen species (ROS).
Furthermore, green tea treatment was found to promote the production of more elaborated dendritic (structures on the neuron that receive electrical messages) trees in young DCX-positive neurons with function in the acquisition of spatial learning, as well as reversal learning, but not the retrieval of stored long-term memories.
The implication of green tea bio compounds EGCG also significantly increased net growth and development of nervous tissue in the adult hippocampus and hippocampal levels of phospho-Akt.in regulated multiple cellular processes, including glucose metabolism, apoptosis, cell proliferation, transcription, and cell migration by re-establishing the function of PI3K in the intracellular signaling pathway.
Dr. Neha Atulkumar Singh, the lead author in the article of "Potential neuroprotective properties of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG)", said, "there is a need to identify a class of drug capable of reversing neural damage and preventing further neural death" and "assesses the reliability of the neuroprotective benefits of epigallocatechin-gallate (EGCG) by shedding light on their biological, pharmacological, antioxidant and metal chelation properties, with emphasis on their ability to invoke a range of cellular mechanisms in the brain".
Taken together, green bioactive compound, EGCG may represent a potent and useful neuroprotective agent for inflammation-mediated neurological disorders and be considered as a useful principle in modulated brain plasticity.

Cucumber Extract, A Natural Prevention and Treatment of Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis (OA) is an inflammatory disease mostly caused by work-related occupations and working environment, affecting the muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and nerves, over time.
The disease is most prevalent in the US. Approximately 10% in men and 13% in women over the age of 60 years suffer from the condition.
In general population, OA affecting over 25 million people in the United States alone.
And, the numbers are increasing at an alarming rate due to the aging of the population and the obesity epidemic.
Most common symptoms of OA include pain in the joint(s), reduced movement of the joint(s), joint(s) tenderness and stiffness, particularly, the loss of flexibility and bone spurs.
If you have experienced some of the symptoms that do not get better in a short period of time, you may have OA.
Believe it or not, patients with OA are associated with the complications of a rapid, complete breakdown of cartilage, bone death (osteonecrosis) and stress fractures.
As of today, there is no cure for the condition, Treatment of OA conventionally are focusing on reducing the pain and progression of the disease and improving quality of life.
If you are taking medication for the treatment of OA, please make sure that you know all the side effects
Prolonged use of Acetaminophen has been found to cause liver damage.
In the prevention and management of OA, some researchers suggested
* Prevented recurrent injury to damage menisci
The meniscus is an important issue because if its function in shock absorption and load distribution in the healthy knee joint(111). A meniscal tear can lead to knee osteoarthritis (OA), but knee OA can also lead to a spontaneous breakdown of meniscal tear and damage to meniscal structure(112). Meniscus damage or recurrent injury might be considered as a signifying feature of incipient OA in middle-aged and elderly people(113).
*. Take precaution if your occupation is at increased risk of osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most important diseases as it frequently affects the active age group of the population contributed to the loss of working hours and of disability(114)(115)(117). Compressive, torsional, pulling and angular movements common in certain occupations or sports may result in injuries of soft tissue, thus increasing the development of OA(116).
* Muscle strengthening and aerobic exercises
Enhanced muscle strengthening with neuromuscular electrical stimulation(118), aerobic exercises(119) and exercise(220) are effective in reducing pain and improving physical function in patients with mild to moderate OA of the knee(220).
* Maintain a healthy weight(117)
Increased BMI and obesity are associated with more severe cartilage degeneration(121)(123) as assessed by both morphological and quantitative MRI measurements(122).
*Avoid dehydration
Dehydration has shown to reduce the mobility of collagen amino acid residues and carbon sugar ring structures in glycosaminoglycans, according to University of Michigan(124) of that may affect the functions of cartilage and induce the risk of OA(125), but dehydration effects are reversible, through the restoration of molecular structure and mobility(124).
* Avoid intake of inflammatory foods
Loading up on junk foods and fast foods contains a high amount of trans fat of that increases the risk of inflammation(126) exhibit pro-inflammatory effects(127) causes of osteoarthritis (OA)(128). Red meat, eggs, and wheat products all contain a high amount of arachidonic acid, too much arachidonic acid may be worsen the inflammation process(129), etc.
* Eat your fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables containing high amount of nutrients and antioxidant(130), can enhance immune defense system(131)within the joint through direct influences of transferrin performance for reduction of inflammation(131)(132) as well as suppressing free radicals and the chain of free radicals reaction cause of elevating the swelling and promoting degeneration(133)(134).
* Replace regular beverage with green tea
Epigallocatechin-3-gallate, a green tea polyphenol(135)(136), was found to be effective in reducing inflammatory cytokines induced inflammatory diseases(137)(138).
The cucumber plant is a species of Cucumis Sativus, belongings to the family Cucurbitaceae and native to Western Asia. It is a creeping vine with roots in the ground and grows up with the support of frames.
On finding a natural compound for the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA), age-related disease researchers compared the efficacy of Q-Actin™, an aqueous extract of Cucumis sativus (cucumber; CSE) against GC in the management of moderate knee OA.
The randomized double-blind, parallel-group clinical trial included 122 patients (56 males and 66 females) aged between 40 and 75 years with moderate knee OA took place in three different centers
Participants were divided evenly into 2 groups (n= 61) the GC group received orally the generally prescribed dose of 1,350 mg of GC twice daily and the CSE group received orally10 mg twice daily of CSE in a 180-day intervention.
According to the results from the Western Ontario McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), the WOMAC score of CSE group was decreased by 22.44% and 70.29% on Days 30 and 180, respectively, compared to a 14.80% and 32.81% to the decrease in the GC group.
Similarly, the GC also showed a decrease of pain score compared to the CSE group without inducing any adverse effect.
Based on the finding, researchers said, "The use of 10 mg CSE, twice daily, was effective in reducing pain related to moderate knee OA and can be potentially used in the management of knee pain, stiffness, and physical functions related to OA".
In order to reveal additional information about the anti-inflammatory properties of cucumber, researchers examined the antioxidant effect on cucurbitacins (Cub), a major compound found in the fruit.
Compared to grape-seed extract, wheat, alfalfa, and ginkgo biloba extracts, CuB showed a broad spectrum radical-scavenging capacity.
CuB exerted a similar activity to that of the aforementioned study by inhibiting the expression of TNF in macrophages and lymphocytes and the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators such as nitric-oxide synthase-2 and cyclooxygenase-2.
Collectively, Dr. Adebowale Bernard Saba, the lead scientist wrote," It is general knowledge among researchers working with natural medicinal products that any of the cucurbitacins have the attributes or the potential to become fully patented as anti-inflammatory...drug".
Taken altogether, cucumber processed abundantly amount of CuB may be used for the treatment of osteoarthritis, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of CuB in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

* Maintain a healthy weight(117)

Green Tea, Bioactive Epigallocatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) Gallate (EGCG3"Me) Anti Allergic Effects
Green tea may have a particular and special effect in ameliorated autoimmunity in precipitation of allergic diseases, some scientists opinionated.
Allergic diseases are a class of conditions characterized by an overreaction of the immune system to substances which cause little or no harm to the body.
Investigation of the effect of green tea bioactive compounds in reduced abnormal immune allergic expression was found to associate to certain mechanisms.
According to the Kyushu University, Epigallocatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) gallate (EGCG3"Me) isolated from cv. "Benifuuki" green tea expressed strong and positive activities in inhibited the mast cell production in precipitated allergic inflammatory responses and suppressed the high-affinity IgE receptor (FcεRI) function in the expression of immunoglobulin E (IgE), an antibody isotype involved allergy disorder through 67 kDa laminin receptor in the mediation of the suppressive effect by epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate.
Further analysis also found that the bioactive compound binds to 67 kDa laminin receptor to attenuate allergic expression induced by mast cell by suppressing the myosin light chain phosphorylation in regulated immune response to eosinophil (a type of disease-fighting white blood cell) migration in the tissue, a characteristic feature of allergic diseases and ERK1/2 phosphorylation signalling by modulation of inflammatory cytokines expression.
A double-blind clinical study of the green tea effect on subjects exposed to Japanese cedar pollinosis, administration of Benifuuki green tea containing O-methylated catechins showed a significantly relieving allergic symptoms induced by pollen such as nose blowing, eye itching in compared with the placebo group without effecting the normal immune responses.
More interestingly, in mouse bone marrow-derived mast cells activated by antigens, bioactive compound epigallocatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) gallate (EGCG3″Me) in combination with ginger extract also demonstrated a strongly anti-delay-type allergic effect by suppressing cytokines secretion of tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), a cell-signaling protein (cytokine) in response to systemic inflammation in the acute phase infection. and macrophage Inflammatory Proteins(MIP-1α), a chemokine involved host response to invading bacteria and virus.
In compared to the dose of 5.1 times higher in EGCG, injection of 8.5 mg of EGCG3″Me exhibited a much stronger anti-allergic activity than 43.5 mg of EGCG, observed by the area under curve AUC (area under the drug concentration-time curve; min μg/ml) of 6.72 ± 2.87 in EGCG and 8.48 ± 2.54 in EGCG3″Me.
Taken together, green tea with abundantly bioactive Epigallocatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) gallate (EGCG3"Me) may be considered as a functional food for protection against autoimmune response stimulated by unharmful allergens.

Phytochemical Betacyanins Kills Bladder Cancer Cells In Vitro
The bladder is a hollow elastic organ in the center of the lower abdomen that collects urine from the kidneys and excreted them through the urethra.
Bladder cancer is the most common type of cancer that affects men twice as frequently as it affects women. Usually, bladder cancer starts from cells on the surface of the inner lining of the bladder caused by several types of malignant growths of the urinary bladder cells.
Depending on the cancer cell originated bladder cancer can be classified into
* Transitional cell carcinoma
Transitional cell carcinoma starts on the innermost tissue layer of the bladder. More than 90 percent of bladder cancers begin in the transitional cells
* Squamous cell carcinoma
Cancer begins in squamous cells found in the tissues of the surface of the bladder, due to long-term infection or irritation. About 8 percent of people with bladder cancers begin squamous cells.
* Adenocarcinoma
Cancer begins originates in glandular tissue of the bladder, including the surface layer of skin, glands and a variety of other tissue, due to long-term irritation and inflammation. Only 2 percent of people with the condition have a third bladder cancer type.
According to the statistics, most cases (90%) of bladder cancer are diagnosed in people older than 55, and the average age people are diagnosed with bladder cancer is 73 worldwide.
Believe it or not, bladder cancer will cause the death of 12,870 in men and 4,800 in women. Among men, bladder cancer is the eighth most common cause of cancer death.
Betacyanins are phytochemicals in the class of red and yellow indole-derived pigments, belonging to the group of Betalains, found abundantly in beets, chard, etc.
With the aim to find a potential compound for the treatment of bladder cancer, researchers examined the effect betacyanins (BC) purified from beetroot (Beta vulgaris var. Rubra L.) alone or in combination with vitexin-2-O-xyloside (XVX) from Beta vulgaris var. cicla L.on T24 bladder cancer cells.
According to the tested differentiation, the combination of BC and XVX exhibited a synergistic effect on the inhibition of proliferation in T24 cancer cells at 24 and 48 h but not after 72 h of incubation.
Furthermore, according to the observation of the means of fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) analysis, the combined treament induced cancer cell apoptosis through activating the protein associated with cell death signaling.
In cell death analysis, the combination promoted the expression of genes involved in pro-apoptosis and inhibited the genes associated with anti-apoptosis in bladder cancer cell lines.
Moreover, the combined treatment also demonstrated strong activity in the induction of cytotoxicity against bladder cancer cells without affecting the normal human skin NCTC 2544 keratinocytes.
Based on the finding, Dr. Emanuele Salvatore Scarpa, the lead scientist wrote, "These results demonstrated the efficacy and the mechanisms of the action of BC and XVX, extracted from edible plants, and suggested that a diet or a nutrition supplement, enriched with these bioactive molecules, could be used in the prevention of human bladder cancer".
Taken altogether, betacyanins used alone or combined with herbal remedy may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of bladder cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of betacyanins in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Green Tea in Ameliorated Risk and Treatment of Lifestyle-Related Diseases
Green tea is found to consist of a therapeutic and sustainable effect in reduced risk and progression of lifestyle diseases, some scientists postulated
Green tea, a precious drink processes numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and the Western world.
Lifestyle diseases are a class of diseases associated with the way a person or group of people lives, including atherosclerosis, heart disease, and stroke; obesity and type 2 diabetes....and diseases precipitated by smoking and alcohol and drug abuse.
Epidemiological studies suggested that lifestyle-related diseases may be preventable with the change of lifestyle accompanied by the intake of some nontoxic agents.
Differentiation of the effect of green tea in attenuated risk and treatment of lifestyle-related diseases was found to associate to some mechanisms involving numbers of aspect, particularly, in gene facilitation.
In animal model, green tea administration inhibited risk and symptoms and progression of chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis, through regulation of tumor necrosis factor (TNF-alpha) gene in expression of inflammatory cytokines in promoted systematic inflammation in the acute phase of infection caused by damage and injure tissues, in modulated the activation of NF-kappaB signalling pathway related to cellular response in induction of anti and pro-inflammatory stimulation and transcription factor complex (AP-1) in initiation of inflammation against foreign invasion.
The inhibition of inflammatory cytokines expression reduced symptoms of pain, reddish skin, swelling without limiting the protective effect of the immune system to prevent damage tissues against the invasion of foreign substances.
Further analysis of chronic inflammatory diseases, in transgenic mice model with human idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis suggested that injection of green tea in 4 months demonstrated a significant activity in ameliorated overexpression of TNF-alpha in stimulated production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and interleukin (IL)-6 in initiated inflammatory expression in cellular defense in response to infections and tissue injuries in the lung.
In lifestyle-related diseases of cardiovascular disease, intake of green tea beverage or extract expressed a significant reduction in serum total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol concentrations, without affecting the levels of HDL-cholesterol.
Additionally, in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, green tea extract catechin injection improved fasting glucose levels without affecting the hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) level, which is an predictor of type 2 diabetes onset and green tea consumed 5 or more cups per day was associated with a strongly and positively inverse association to risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
.
More amazingly, after taking into account of other confounders, Dr. Sueoka E, the lead scientist suggested that intake of green tea, containing catechins and caffeine, 5 or more cups per day exhibited a potential and therapeutic effect for bodyweight management, without going into details.
According to the prospective cohort study in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, green tea injection of over 10 cups per day, displayed a substantial effect in decreased relative risk of death from all causes in patients with cardiovascular disease, particularly, in stroke mortality.
Take together, there is no doubt that green tea with abundantly bioactive phytochemicals may be considered as a functional food to reduced risk, progression, and treatment of lifestyle-related disease, but a change of lifestyle is always recommended.
