What is Candida Albicans

Candida albicans are members of a large group of micro organism whose cells contain complex structures enclosed within the membranes, including yeast(2)(3), fungi(4)(5)(6), and mold(6) that live among the gut flora in the human mouth and gastrointestinal tract. In fact, under normal circumstances, Candida albicans that do not cause harmful effects, but overgrowth results in candidiasis. Non-albicansCandida (NAC) species cause 35-65% of all candidaemias in the general patient population(1). According to joint study, in many cases, biofilm(microorganisms with cells stick to each other on a surface) formation(7) gene mutations(8) and overexpression of genes(9)(10) are often associated with increased Candidaresistance toward antifungal agents.

Treatments and controllings

C. Minerals and mineral compounds
1. Coral Calcium
One of the richest sources of Calcium not only is an important mineral in building stronger, denser bones early in life and keeping bones strong(248) and healthy later in life and preventing the risk of osterporosis(249), but also helps to alkalize the body that eliminate the favor environment for candida overgrowth(250).

2. Magnesium Citrate
Magnesium Citrate is a magnesium salt of citric acid, a chemical agent used medicinally as a saline laxative(251). Besides it is important to maintain proper level of pH(252) for the body's organs to enhance their biochemical pathways for detoxification(253), that limits or reduces the over growth of candida, it also acts as a defecation in stimulating naturally bowel movement.
The mineral, magnesium plays a key role in the immune response, by acting as a co-factor for immunoglobulin synthesis(254) that significantly increases for both IgA and IgG, the antibody molecules that protect our body against bacterial and viral infections(255) and the lining of the respiratory passages, gastrointestinal andgenitourinary tract(255).

3. Lithium chloride
Lithium chloride is a chemical compound with the formula LiCl. The salt is a typical ionic compound. While maintaining the proper PH levels(257), lithium also suppresses the yeast phosphoglucomutase activity(256) and inhibits the candida albicans filamentation and hyphal outgrowth(258).

4. Sodium bicarbonate
Used as an alkaline treatment(259), sodium bicarbonate is important to balance the levels of PH by taking away the acidity environment for candida overgrowth(260)(261). Researchers found that 5% sodium bicarbonate on the adherence of Candida albicans to thermally activated acrylic resin proved to be a viable alternative in the reduction of Candida albicans(262).

5. Phosphonium salts
Phosphonium salts with long alkyl chains (C18) were found to show high levels of antimicrobial activity(263). In the alkyltrimethylphosphonium salts(263), the bactericidal activity against S. aureus and Escherichia coli increased with increasing alkyl chain length(263), probably through its antimicrobial polymers(264), according to the joint study by University of New Brunswick, Southwest Petroleum University, and North China Electric Power University

6. Zinc
Zinc besides is an important mineral in boosting immune system activity(265)(266). Its nano-structure zinc(II) coordination compounds, has been used in zinc therapy to treat candida overgrowth(267) by promoting metallothionein (MT)(found in high concentration in intestinal mucosa)synthesis(268) through its anti inflammatory activity(269).

The finding of a natural source for treatment of Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease(NAFLD)  has been running into many obstacles, many ingredients showed initially with promising result in animal studies have not produced same potentials in large sample size and mutli centers human trials.

Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease is defined as a condition of the fatty liver diseases as a result of accumulated of fat in the liver, not caused by abusive alcohol consumption.

Recent studies back by well known institutions poposed, Bernerine, Resveratrol  and Epigallocatechin-3-Gallate isolated from Turmeric, blueberry and green tea respectively may be the next generation of natural ingredients for prevention and treatment of Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

Berberine(BBR) is a phytochemical found abundantly in root, bark, stem in plants of Berberis, including turmeric. According to the joint study lead by Fudan University, BBR ameliorates NAFLD and related metabolic disorders(2)  through a direct regulation of hepatic lipid metabolism and modulation of hepatic mRNA and lncRNA expression in gene regulation(3).
Dr. Han L and professors in a Chinese study suggested, berberine promoted lipid metabolism and ameliorated lipid deposition in liver cells of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) rats induced by high fat diet through LXRα/FAS signaling pathway in mediated hepatocyte fatty deposits(4).

Resveratrol is a phytochemical in the class of Stilbenoids, found abundantly in blueberry and grape. According to the joint study lead by Aarhus University Hospital and Department of Clinical Medicine, resveratrol expressed a mild effect in ameliorating on liver function and liver fat accumulation(5)through inhibited pro inflammatory and promoted apoptotic expression(6).

Berberine and resveratrol, the phytochemical found abundantly in many vegetables and fruits as well herbs and herbal formulae such as Polygonum hypoleucum Ohwi, and Artemisia sacrorum Ledeb., and formulae including Yinchenhao Decoction (, YCHD), Qushi Huayu Decoction (, QSHYD), and Danning Tablet, were found not only to improve biochemical and histological change in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, through inhibiting lipid accumulation and restore the impaired oxidation of long-chain fatty acids(1)

Green tea has been a precious drink in traditional Chienese culture and used exceptional in socialization for more than 4000 thousand years. According to the joint study lead by the Departamento de Fisiologia-Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Epigallocatechin-3-Gallate isolated from green tea extract prevent fatty liver through restored a normal hepatic metabolic profile and attenuated high-fat diet (HFD)-induced effects, in animal study(7) as well as improved insulin resistance(8)(9) and metabolic profiles in normolipidic diet(8).

Taking altogether, The combination of Green Tea, Grape and Turmeric may offer the potential effect not only in prevention of the onset and treatment of Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease(NAFLD)s, through their anti lipid accumulation effect.
People who are at increased risk of Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease(NAFLD) due to family history, obesity,..... are wise to drink at least one serving daily. People with  Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease(NAFLD), should drink the juice as much as they can, depending to the toleration of digestive system.
Change of life style and diet pattern are recommended.

Obesity is a medical condition of excess body fat accumulated overtime, while overweight is a condition of excess body weight relatively to the height. According to the Body Mass Index(BMI), a BMI between 25 to 29.9 is considered over weight, while a BMI of over 30 is an indication of obesity. According to the statistic, 68% of American population are either overweight or obese.

You can calculate your BMI index BMI= weight (kg)/ height (m2)

The Research and Studies of Dietary carbohydrate and fat and diabetes

In the review of the emphasis in recent years has been on the reduction of total fat and saturated fat and replacement with complex carbohydrate. Scientist from the Stanford University School of Medicine(1) indicated that there is little evidence to support the notion that low-fat high-carbohydrate diets per se lead to any reduction in the risk for CAD in individuals with diabetes from the available data, but the only data indicating that low-fat high-carbohydrate diets lead to beneficial effects on carbohydrate and lipoprotein metabolism are confounded either by the lack of suitable experimental control. The group said that diets also differed in the type of dietary fat and amount of dietary cholesterol, or were enormously enriched in dietary fiber. When these factors are taken into consideration, there appears to be little evidence in support of the view that substituting carbohydrate for fat in the diets of individuals with diabetes results in any measurable beneficial effect.
The group continued that indeed, it could be argued that the most characteristic defects in carbohydrate and lipoprotein metabolism are exacerbated in response to low-fat high-carbohydrate diets. Alternatively, the data presented herein strongly suggest that diets containing conventional quantities of fat, in which saturated fat is replaced by unsaturated fat and dietary cholesterol reduced, would result in the desired reductions to total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations without the adverse effects of increased postprandial glucose and insulin concentrations, increased fasting and postprandial total and very-low-density lipoprotein triglyceride concentrations, and decreased fasting high-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations.

IV. Organic Soy
Soy foods, including tofu have been in traditional Chinese diet over thousands of year, according to Chinese literature. The reduced risk of chronic disease in Asian population, including metabolic syndrome such as cardiovascular diseases, obesity and diabetes and lesser menopause symptoms in advanced age, may be aided by eating a lot of soy food accompanied with large portion of vegetables and fruits. Indeed, according to the study, only 10% of women in the East are experience symptoms of menopause in advanced age compared to over 70% of their Western counterparts.
According to Dr. Mark Messina, Ph.D., Soy foods contributed from 6.5%8 to 12.8%7 of total protein intake in older adult in Japan.(b)

The approval of cardiovascular benefit of soy by FDA in 1999 accompanied with the discovery of health benefits in clinical studies over past decade, prompted the promotion and advertisement of soy's health benefits in every aspect in Western society. Evidences could be seen by walking through the supermarkets and drug stores. Soy supplements and products such as tofu, soy milk, soy-based infant formula, and meatless “texturized vegetable protein” burgers were widely available. According to the United Soybean Board’s 2004–2005, 25% of Americans consumed soy foods or beverages at least once per week, and 74% viewed soy products as healthy.

Today, the promotion of soy is no longer existed, it may be results of discovery of adverse effects in single ingredient and animal studies, as intake of soy is associated to induce risk of certain mammary cancers and infertility. The publication of the result have drawn many criticisms. According to Thomas Badger, director and senior investigator at the Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center in Little Rock, these effects are seen only under certain experimental conditions that are not likely to occur in humans—and therein lies the crux of the debate(a).Equol (4',7-isoflavandiol), an isoflavandiol metabolized from daidzein may be the causes, as 90% of Eastern population are equol producers but only 30% in the West.
The explanation of the positive effect of soy isoflavones in reduced risk of mammary cancers by University of Goettingen may be interesting, as researchers said" Most importantly, there is dispute as to whether isoflavones derived from soyor red clover have negative, positive or any effect at all on the mammary gland or endometrium. It is beyond any doubt that soy products may have cancerpreventing properties in a variety of organs including the mammary gland. However, these properties may only be exerted if the developing organ was under the influence of isoflavones during childhood and puberty".

Soybean is genus Glycine, the family Fabaceae, one of the legumes that contains twice as much protein per acre as any other major vegetable or grain crop, native to Southeast Asia. Now, it is grown worldwide with suitable climate for commercial profit and a a healthy foods.

                                     Soy sauce

Soy sauce is a seasoning produced by fermenting soybeans and filamentous fungus, along with water and salt after a period of sometime, it yields a moromi or thick mash of cereal to obtain soy sauce by pressing it to liquid form. Tamari is made by collecting the liquid which was pressed and the liquid drained drains from miso after a certain time of fermentation.

A. Health benefits according to studies
1. Cardiovascular health
In the investigation of dietary proteins and their effect in heart diseases found that a direct cholesterol lowering effect of proteins has not been shown. Despite earlier research indicating that soy protein has cardioprotective effects as compared to other proteins, these observations have not been confirmed by randomized placebo-controlled trials. However, most experts recommend the consumption offoods rich in plant proteins as alternatives to meat and dairy products rich in saturated fat and containing cholesterol, according to "Dietary proteins and atherosclerosis" by Darioli R.(a)

2. Perennial allergic rhinitis (PAR)
In the study of isolated a halophilic lactic acid bacterium, Tetragenococcus halophilus Th221, from soy sauce moromi and the its effect on serum total immunoglobulin E, found that The change in serum total immunoglobulin E improved significantly at the end of the trial compared with the beginning in this group (p < 0.05). The safety of Th221 treatment was confirmed by laboratory tests and inspection of the general condition of each subject and concluded that Th221 can be expected to safely improve the symptoms of PAR, according to "Clinical efficacy of halophilic lactic acid bacterium Tetragenococcus halophilus Th221 from soy sauce moromi for perennial allergic rhinitis" by Nishimura I, Igarashi T, Enomoto T, Dake Y, Okuno Y, Obata A.(b)

3. Anti-allergic activities
In the assessment of oral supplementation of Shoyu polysaccharides (SPS) and its effective intervention for patients with perennial allergic rhinitis found that evaluation of the medication's effectiveness after 4 weeks treatment showed significant differences between the SPS- and placebo-treated groups (p<0.05). In conclusion, SPS of soy sauce improved the quality of life for patients with perennial allergic rhinitis, and soy sauce would be useful in an anti-allergic therapy utilizing everyday foods, according to "Quality of life improvement with soy sauce ingredients, Shoyu polysaccharides, in perennial allergic rhinitis: a double-blind placebo-controlled clinical study" by Kobayashi M, Matsushita H, Shioya I, Nagai M, Tsukiyama R, Saito M, Sugita T, Sugimura T, Yamamoto K.(c)

4. Breast cancer
In the analyzing of Shoyu and on the gastric mucosa of the rat found that the animals given shoyu were smaller than the controls; 15 intact rats receiving the sauce were healthy at 33 months compared with 7 controls. Only 9 of 50 operated rats lived 33 months. Breast tumors developed in 10 control rats but in none givenshoyu. The distribution of other tumors was the same,... and concluded that Shoyudid not appear to be a carcinogen in the rat; its prolonged use impaired neither health nor longevity. Long-term use was associated with gastric mucus loss and nuclear changes in a few rats, occasionally with a mild gastritis. according to "Long-term effect of shoyu (Japanese soy sauce) on the gastric mucosa of the rat" by MacDonald WC, Dueck JW.(4)

5. Hypolipidemic effect
In the observation of Soy sauce (Shoyu), a traditional Japanese fermented seasoning and its effect on cholesterol level found that in a 4-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled parallel group study, hyperlipidemic men (TG >150 mg/dl) were treated with 600 mg of SPS (n=15) or placebo (n=15) daily. After 4 weeks, serum TG levels in the SPS-treated group were significantly (P<0.05) lower than the baseline (0 week). In conclusion, SPS of soy sauce reduce lipid absorption, and soy sauce is a potentially promising seasoning for the treatment of hyperlipidemia through food, according to "Hypolipidemic effect of Shoyupolysaccharides from soy sauce in animals and humans" by Kobayashi M, Magishi N, Matsushita H, Hashimoto T, Fujimoto M, Suzuki M, Tsuji K, Saito M, Inoue E, Yoshikawa Y, Matsuura T.(e)
