                                   Colitis

Colitis is defined as a condition of inflammation of the large intestine, including the colon, caecum and rectum.

                             Types of Colitis

According to the study by Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, types of colitis include
microscopic colitis, ischemic colitis, segmental colitis associated with diverticula, radiation colitis, diversion colitis, eosinophilic colitis and Behcet's colitis(a).

                             The Treatments

In herbal medicine perspective
1. Ambrotose complex and Advanced Ambrotose (aloe vera gel, arabinogalactan, fucoidan, and rice starch)
In the study to test the efficacy of Plant-derived polysaccharide supplements in inhibiting dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis in the rat, conducted by the Eurofins Product Safety Laboratories, indicated that Ambrotose complex and Advanced Ambrotose are dietary supplements that include aloe vera gel, arabinogalactan, fucoidan, and rice starch, all of which have shown anti- inflammatory activity(118).

2. Flax seed
People use flaxseed for many conditions related to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including ongoing constipation, colon damage due to overuse of laxatives, diarrhea, inflammation of the lining of the large intestine (diverticulitis), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or irritable colon, sores in the lining of the large intestine (ulcerative colitis), inflammation of the lining of the stomach (gastritis), and inflammation of the small intestine (enteritis)(119).

3. Boswellia
In the study to evaluate the antioxidant effect of an extract of the plant Boswelliaserrata in an experimental model of acute ulcerative colitis induced by administration of acetic acid (AA) in rats, found that the extract of B. serrata has active antioxidant substances that exert protective effects in acute experimentalcolitis(120).

4. Peppermint Oil
Peppermint oil is the major constituent of several over-the-counter remedies for symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). According to the study by Postgraduate Medical School, University of Exeter, found that 8 randomized, controlled trials were located. Collectively they indicate that peppermint oil could be efficacious for symptom relief in IBS. A metaanalysis of five placebo-controlled, double blind trials seems to support this notion(121).

5. Ginger
Ginger is a commonly used spice with anti-inflammatory potential. In the study to investigate the therapeutic effects of ginger and its component zingerone in mice with 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis, showed that nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) were key molecules involved in the expression of ginger- and zingerone-affected genes. Ex vivo imaging and immunohistochemical staining further verified that ginger and zingerone suppressed TNBS-induced NF-κB activation and IL-1β protein level in the colon. In conclusion, ginger improved TNBS-induced colitis via modulation of NF-κB activity and IL-1β signalling pathway. Moreover, zingerone might be the active component of ginger responsible for the amelioration of colitis induced by TNBS(122).

                      Peri-Menopause

Peri-Menopause is defined as a condition in which women are experience the irregular menstrual cycle due to the hormonal decline gradually, including shorter, longer, heavy, light period and some menopause symptoms. Perimenopause, in fact is a transition stage to menopause, and the length of this transition can be 3-10 years or longer. Once you have no menstrual period in 12 consecutive months, you have officially entered 12 months of menopause already.

                                    The Symptoms

1. Irregular period
In the early of peri menopause, the ovaries are in the stage of irregular response to the follicle stimulating hormone that can lead to anovulation, causing irregular menstruation.

2. Follicle stimulating hormone
The rise of FSH as a result of no response of ovaries in production of estrogen for the production of mature egg.

3. Hot flash and irregular sleep hour
As the result of hormonal change, and a woman is experience some symptom of peri menopause. Statistic showed that approximately over 65% of women in the stage of peri menopause are experience hot flashes.

4. Mood swing and irritability
It can be the result of hormone imbalance or the diminishing of sex hormone, including estrogen and progesterone. Some researchers suggested that it may also be caused by fatigue due to symptoms of irregular sleep and hot flash.

5. Vaginal and bladder problem
As the levels of sex hormone decrease, it can lead to the change in the acidic environment of vagina, causing bacteria infection that affect the health of vagina and bladder.

6. Decrease fertility
It is due to the ovaries no longer response instantaneously to the hormone follicle stimulating hormone in releasing estrogen for mature eggs.

7. Bone loss
AS the levels of estrogen decrease, it causes the lost of calcium in the bone, leading to lower bone density and increasing the risk of fracture. According to the study of "Characterization of perimenopausal bone loss", a prospective study, byRecker R, Lappe J, Davies K, Heaney R., researchers concluded that menopausal bone loss is a composite of loss caused by estrogen deprivation and age per se for the hip and total body, but is caused by estrogen deprivation alone for the spine.

8. Cholesterol
Low levels of estrogen increase the levels of bad cholesterol LDL and decrease the levels of good cholesterol HDL In a sudy of "EXOGENOUS ESTROGEN EFFECT ONLIPID/LIPOPROTEIN CHOLESTEROL IN TRANSSEXUAL MALES" by M.D. Damewood, J.J. Bellatoni, P.S. Bachorik, A.W. Kimball Jr. and J.A. Rock, researcher found that The total cholesterol to HDL cholesterol ratio may be predictive as to the development of coronary artery disease. The calculated risks for cardiovascular disease in the transsexual groups of males studies was 3.49 and 4.05, below the range of standard risks for men (5.0) and slightly lower than the standard risk for women .

Phytochemials are defined as a group of chemical compound found naturally in plants, including fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, etc. Many studies have proven that they can because of certain phytochemicals, but for what ever reason, there are either no clinical trials follow through or the studies can not make to stage of clinical trials. Do not expect the pharmateutical or foods industrial companies to pay for the researches, as the discovery of the phytochemicals to cure cancers can only dampen the profits of both industries as phytochemicals can not be patented.

Cancer is a class of diseases in which a group of cells growing and multiplying disordered and uncontrollable way in our body, have become progressively worse and damaged other healthy tissues, sometimes spreads to other organs in the body via lymph or blood and results may be in death.
Food intake can help to prevent and treat cancers.

             Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), also known as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), gastric reflux disease, or acid reflux disease, is defined as a chronic condition of liquid stomach acid refluxing back up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing heartburn. According to the study of "Updated guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease." by DeVault KR, Castell DO; American College of Gastroenterology, GERD is defined as symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus.

Types of food to prevent and treat Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
1. Peppermint
According to the study of A review of the bioactivity and potential health benefits of peppermint tea (Mentha piperita L.)." by McKay DL, Blumberg JB. posted in , researchers wrote that In vitro, peppermint has significant antimicrobial and antiviral activities, strong antioxidant and antitumor actions, and some antiallergenic potential. Animal model studies demonstrate a relaxation effect on gastrointestinal (GI) tissue, analgesic and anesthetic effects in the central and peripheral nervous system... However, human studies of peppermint leaf are limited and clinical trials of peppermint tea are absent. Adverse reactions to peppermint tea have not been reported, although caution has been urged for peppermint oil therapy in patients with GI reflux, hiatal hernia or kidney stones(1).

2. Ginger
Gingerole, is also known as gingerol, a phytochemical of Flavonoids (polyphenols)found in fresh ginger and in variety of other plants. Ginger has been used for thousands of years to enhance the function of digestive system and treat stomach distress including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and in digestion, acid reflux, motion sickness, dyspepsia, etc. due to its due to its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and analgesic properties. According to the study of " Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) and the gingerols inhibit the growth of Cag A+ strains of Helicobacter pylori." by Mahady GB, Pendland SL, Yun GS, Lu ZZ, Stoia A., researchers found that The methanol extract of ginger rhizome inhibited the growth of all 19 strains in vitro with a minimum inhibitory concentration range of 6.25-50 micrograms/ml. One fraction of the crude extract, containing the gingerols, was active and inhibited the growth of all HP strains with an MIC range of 0.78 to 12.5 micrograms/ml and with significant activity against the CagA+ strains(2). Other research of [6]-gingerol, [8]-gingerol, [10]-gingerol, and [6]-shogaol. and it effects in Nausea and Vomiting found that the efficiency of ginger in reducing nausea and vomiting may be based on a weak inhibitory effect of gingerols and shogaols at cholinergic M (3) receptors and serotonergic 5-HT (3) receptors. Serotonergic 5-HT (4) receptors, which play a role in gastroduodenal motility, appear not to be involved in the action of these compounds, according to "Effects of ginger constituents on the gastrointestinal tract: role of cholinergic M3 and serotonergic 5-HT3 and 5-HT4 receptors" by Pertz HH, Lehmann J, Roth-Ehrang R, Elz S.(3)

3. Aloe Vera Juice
According to the article of "Effect Of Orally Consumed Aloe Vera Juice On Gastrointestinal Function In Normal Humans, excerpts By Jeffrey Bland, Ph.D. (Linus Pauling Institute of Science & Medicine) involved ten healthy subjects - five men (median age: 42; standard deviation: 14 years), and five women (median age: 32; standard deviation: 5 years) - engaged in a semicontrolled Aloe vera juice oral supplementation study protocol., researchers found that The function of Aloe vera juice in promoting, proper gastrointestinal function, based upon the information from this preliminary study, may be to regulate gastrointestinal pH while improving gastrointestinal motility, increasing stool specific gravity, and reducing populations of certain fecal micro-organisms, including yeast(4).

4. Mastic gum
According to the article of "Strategies to Protect Against Potential Bone-Destroying Effects"By Chris D. Meletis, ND, the author wrote that While much of the research on mastic gum revolves around its ability to support the health of patients with ulcers and its ability to inhibit the bacteria H. pylori, clinically it has been equally useful in patients with GERD and acid reflux.

                                        Autism

Autism is one of the most common forms of brain development disorder and one in 166 child is diagnosed with some forms of autism. Children who are diagnosed with autism tend to have weak immune system and auto immune problems. Autism is defined as medical condition in which a child has some of the following impairments
a) Speech
b) Social and communication skills
c) Limited interest
d) Repetitive behaviour

Avoid Artificial ingredients - Artificial colors

Children diagnosed with autism with impairments of speech, social and communication skill, limited interest, repetitive behaviour, etc. depending on severity of the symptoms may exhibit low tolerance or allergies to certain foods or chemicals, such as gluten and casein, impairment of digestion system such as yeast over growth in the intestine tract, weakened immune system such as decreased resistance to infection, respiratory and ear infection. It is important for the parent and the benefits of the child avoided intake of food that promote the brain's allergic reaction, the immune dysfunction, liver function in detoxification, etc. In this article, we will discuss what to avoid for children with autism.

Food color is any substance added in to the food to preserve its favors or to simulate a natural state of the foods with an aim to make customers to buy them. Although, they have been tested by the government food body to ensure its safety, but unfortunately, it has interfered the neurological processes, such as the behavior, personality and learning ability of children with or without autism if taken in high dose.
It is said that some artificial ingredient such as FD & C Red No. 2 dye have shown to promote cancerous growth. Researcher found that removing the artificial colors from the autistic children diet, improve in attention deficit and hyperactivity behaviors dramatically.

                    Overcome Infertility

Infertility is defined as inability of a couple to conceive after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse. It effects over 5 millions couple alone in the U. S. and many times more in the world. Because of unawareness of treatments, only 10% seeks help from professional specialist.

Vasography Analysis of Male Infertility In Conventional medicine Perspective

Ultrasound infertility test is defined as a test which uses high frequency sound waves to bounce off the pelvic region in order to check the process of egg production process during menstrual cycle.

 Procedure
1. Ultrasound is a painless procedure and can be done in relatively short periods of time at your local clinic.

2. During a standard ultrasound, an ultrasound slender probe is inserted into your vagina. It very much like an insert of a tampon, if you feel uncomfortable about this process, you may want to insert the probe yourself. Ultrasound waves emitted by the probe travel up your vagina and bounce off your ovaries that provides a very clear image of your eggs and ovaries which you can view them at the screen.

Diagnosis
By viewing the process through ultrasound daily, your doctor can see when a woman ovulates such as when the egg matures, when the follicle ruptures, the thickness of the uterine lining, the quality of egg and any abnormal adhesion or implants existed in the uterine cavity. If there any abnormality is discovered during this scan, your doctor can determine what may be the causes for infertility such as hormone imbalance, irregular cells growth in the pelvic cavity such endometriosis adhesion, fibroid, cyst, etc.

This type of ultrasound is normally done for women who are in infertility treatments such as IVF.
