How to Treat Edema Naturally

Herbal Arnica may have a therapeutic and substantial effect in reducing progression and treatment of edema, some scientists suggested.

Arnica is a herbaceous species, genus perennial, belongings to the family Asteraceae, native to Europe and Asia, used in herbal medicine for centuries in the treatment of strains, sprains, and bruises.
Wound healing is a process of repairing after the damage of skin, tissues, organs, etc.

Edema is a condition, characterized by excessive accumulation of fluids in some tissues within the body.

Certain diseases including heart, liver, and kidneys may also increase the prevalence of edema as a result of salt retention in the induction of excess fluid accumulation.

Some researchers suggested that the alternation of starling forces which control the transfer of fluid from the vascular compartment to surrounding tissue spaces may be a culprit in facilitated edematous disorders.

However, in compared to diminished organs function in causes of edema, edematous states may share many of the same afferences and efferent mechanisms for sodium and water retention.

Long-term untreated edema may increase complications of painful swelling, difficulty walking. with skin becoming itchy and uncomfortable. In a serious case, it can cause infection in the swollen area and scarring between layers of tissue.

Some patients may also experience decreased blood circulation, the elasticity of arteries, veins, joints, and muscles in the surrounding infectious areas.

The ingredients
Helenalin, chamissonolid, Sesquiterpene lactone, lignans of the furofuran, dibenzylbutyrolactone, dibenzylbutyrolactol types, pinoresinol, epipinoresinol, phillygenin, matairesinol, nortrachelogenin, and nortracheloside, six dibenzylbutyrolactol derivatives.

In the study to compare the efficacy of herbal Arnica and corticosteroids in reduced postoperative edema and bruising associated with rhinoplasty of 48 primary rhinoplasty patients randomly assigned to three groups as follow

* Group P received 10 mg of dexamethasone (intravenously) intraoperatively followed by a 6-day oral tapering dose of methylprednisone.

* Group A received Arnica three times a day for 4 days, and

* Group C received neither agent and served as the control.

3 blinded panelists were assigned to rate the extent of ecchymosis, including the intensity of the ecchymosis, and the severity of the edema

After observation of the study over the entire period, scientists found that
* There were no significant differences in all groups on the day 2 of postoperative
* In compared to increased swelling of the control group, both group A and P demonstrated a significant improvement in edema rating.

Interestingly, conventional medicine administration group exerted higher intensity of ecchymosis compared to groups A and C on the day of postoperative and all groups displayed no difference of magnitude of edema.

However, between the period of day 2 and 8, groups A and C exhibited significantly more resolution of ecchymosis in compared to group P.

The results suggested that although Arnica may have a therapeutic property in reducing edema during the early postoperative period. And the herbal medicine did not provide similar benefits in regard to the extent and intensity of ecchymosis in compared to corticosteroids.

In order to further confirmation of the effect of herbal Arnica in reduced postoperative ecchymosis and edema, researchers at the joint study lead University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, conducted an investigation in a select population of healthy volunteers after oculofacial surgery by examining the postoperative course and medical records of a total of 27 patients (16 females, 11 males) with age range from18 to 70 years using topical Arnica and Ledum after undergoing common oculofacial procedures, including blepharoplasty, browpexy, and rhinoplasty, in the hands of 4 surgeons at tertiary referral centers from July 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012.

According to the result of the experiment, application of Arnica 50 M (10) 50% and Ledum 50 M (10) pads bilaterally after surgery through postoperative day 6, showed a significantly accelerated healing from day 7 to day 12 in dose depending manner, without inflicting any adverse effects.

The findings suggested that application of composited Arnica and Ledum displays a potential efficacy in reducing postoperative ecchymosis and edema after oculofacial surgery.

The above differentiation of herbal Arnica in improved edema after surgery was supported by the joint study led by the Research Center of University of adult male Wistar rats inoculated with 1% carrageenan into the footpad to induce edema then treated with Arnica montana 6cH, dexamethasone (4.0 mg/kg; positive control) or 5% hydroalcoholic solution (negative control), per os, each 15 minutes, between 30 and 180 minutes after the irritant inoculation.

According to the investigation, application of Arnica group exhibited anti-edema through increased lymphatic edema absorption, particularly, in late edema and less intense edema treatment group after adjusting to the individually qualitative of inflammatory vascular events.

Moreover, the edema inhibition of Arnica was attributed to significantly reduced mast cell degranulation and increased lymphatic vessels diameter and decreased the production of prostaglandins associated to the development of edema, caused by subcutaneous carrageenan injection in the induction of local inflammation.

Taken together, herbal Arnica may be considered as a functional food in reduced risk, progression and for treatment of edema and ecchymosis.

How To Protect Your Eyes Against Retinal Degeneration

Green tea phenolic content may have a sustainable and therapeutic effect in reduced risk and progression of retinal degeneration, some scientists suggested.

Green tea, a precious drink processes numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world. However, as yin in natural herbal medicine or food, long-term injection of large amounts may obstruct the balance of yin-yang, induced "yin excessive syndrome" or "yang vacuity syndrome" including weakening immunity and painful case of GERD,... according to traditional Chinese medicine's Yin-Yang theory.

Retinal degeneration is a macular disease characterized by impaired vision, night blindness, retinal detachment, light sensitivity, tunnel vision, and loss of peripheral vision to total loss of vision.

The evaluation of green tea effect in risk of retinal degeneration was found to be implicated by several mechanisms through numbers of aspects.

In ROS implication of oxidative stress-induced degeneration of the retina occurred in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and glaucoma, application of green tea polyphenols epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) exhibited antioxidant effect as free radical scavenger in ameliorated chain reaction of ROS in causing loss of neuron with direct effects of retinal function and reduced cytotoxicity of free radicals in induction of retinal cellular apoptosis.

Administration of green tea phenolic compound exerted 10 times more effective in the treatment of retinal degeneration, in compared to potent medicine Trolox (vitamin E analog) in attenuating lipid peroxidation caused by the nitric oxide donor, sodium nitroprusside (SNP), according to the study.

Particularly, green tea epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) inhibited a significant decrease of photoreceptor-specific markers (RET-P1, rhodopsin kinase), an indication of photoreceptor cells in the transition to degenerate prematurely, eventually resulting in blindness.

Also, the application reduced an increase in the cell death marker caspase-3 caused by oxidative stress induced by injection of sodium nitroprusside (SNP)

Caspase 3 is an important marker of apoptosis and one of side effect of sodium nitroprusside (SNP) is cyanide toxicity, that can induce overexpression ROS in facilitated free radical chain reaction.

According to the observation by Western blotting techniques, SNP was completely inhibited by EGCG injection in ameliorated the detrimental effects to the retina.

Dr. Zhang B, the co-author said, "Since oxidative stress has been implicated in retinal diseases like AMD and glaucoma this study provides "proof of principle" for the idea that daily intake of EGCG may help individuals suffering from retinal diseases where oxidative stress is implicated".

More interestingly, BALB/cJ mice treated with either EGCG or saline via intraperitoneal (IP) injection, and then placed under constant cool white light-emitting diode (LED) light (10,000 lux) for 5 h, showed a strong protective effect on the retina against light damage (LD) in compared to the control group.

In the examine the retinal structure and function after LD, according to the optical coherence tomography (OCT) and electroretinography (ERG), application of green tea EGCG improved significantly higher ERG amplitudes for all three wave types through inducing morphologic protection of photoreceptors in compared to control.

Moreover, the green tea extract bio-compound also decreased oxidative stress through increase the mRNA level of the antioxidant expression of Sod2, a manganese-dependent superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) before LD and 24 h after LD.

Dr. Qi S1,, the lead author said, "The IP injection of EGCG attenuated the detrimental effects of bright light on the retinas of BALB/cJ mice by protecting the structure and function of the retina".

Importantly, in the study to evaluate green tea EGCG effect in reduced glutamate and induced excitotoxicity in the retina, researchers conducted a study of female Wistar rats (n = 171) randomly assigned into
*. A normal control group (n = 9);
*. A saline control group with intravitreal saline injections (n = 54);
*. NMDA control group with an intravitreal NMDA injection;
*. Intraperitoneal saline injections (n = 54); and
*. NMDA study group (n = 54) receiving an intravitreal NMDA injection plus intraperitoneal EGCG (25 mg/kg) injections.

Observation of the groups at 2 weeks after additional injection of NMDA, showed that group treated with intraperitoneal application of EGCG reduced a significantly less marked NMDA-associated loss of retinal ganglion cell, through
* Inhibition of decreasing retinal ganglion cell layer (GCL), neurons located near the inner surface (the ganglion cell layer) of the retina of the eye in received visual information from photoreceptors.

These results were observed by differentiation of Thy-1 immunoreactivity in several areas of the immature and adult human brain in the expression of retinal ganglion cell damage.

Thy-1 is mostly is expressed by the ganglion cells within the retina and used to index ganglion cell death after ischemia and excitotoxicity. and NMDA excitotoxicity is associated with the death of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs).

Taken together, there is no doubt that Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a major polyphenol of green tea, may be used a combination with standard therapy for protection and treatment of retinal degenerative disease

How to Mediate Your Sex Hormone to the Body Needed Naturally

Coffee, a popular and social beverage, is a drink made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

A recent study suggested that coffee may have a direct effect on the influence of sex hormone steroid-binding globulin(SSBG) in the stimulated production of estrogen and testosterone depending to levels in the host.

Sex hormones are a class of hormones, affecting sexual development or reproduction. Steroid-binding globulin(SSBG), is a sex hormone, having a direct effect on androgen and estrogen.

In sex hormones and sexual differentiation, the most influential hormone in human sexual desire is testosterone.

Low levels of estrogen in women can also reduce sex drive caused by vaginal dryness that can lead to painful intercourse

Mentally, women with low levels of estrogen also experience unstable mood and sleep patterns that can have a strong impact on sexual desire.

However, sexual motivation is influenced by a set of hormones, including testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, oxytocin, and vasopressin...... Altogether, they control the ability to engage in sexual behaviors.

In an 8-week parallel-arm randomized controlled trial with Healthy adults (n = 42) recruited from the Boston community, including regular coffee consumers, nonsmokers, and overweight, randomized to five 6-ounce cups of caffeinated or decaffeinated instant coffee or water per day, at 4 weeks, researchers surprisingly found that
* Decaffeinated coffee drinking was associated with a borderline significantly increased levels of SHBG in women, but not in men.
*. At week 4, decaffeinated coffee decreased total and free testosterone and caffeinated coffee decreased only total testosterone in women.
*. Contrast to women participants, men consumption of caffeinated coffee displayed a significantly increased total testosterone and decreased total and free estradiol hormones.
*. The study also indicated that caffeinated coffee consumption does not exert any effect on SHBG in either men or women.

These results suggested that intake of coffee may have a strong impact in maintained normal levels of SHBG, thus reducing the risk of low levels of SHBG induced higher testosterone levels in overweight women, which can lead to androgenization and development of the polycystic ovarian syndrome.

And in men, higher levels of testosterone may also have a significant contribution of healthy libido, building muscle mass, and maintaining energy levels.

Some researchers suggested that increased testosterone level for middle-aged (30 to 50 years old) and older males may also improve the physical energy, strength, stamina, mental aggressiveness which were lost in the aging population.

Contrast to above differentiation, in type 2 diabetic patients, coffee and coffee caffeine showed an elevated effect as a mediator of sex hormone-binding globulin in both androgen and estrogen particularly in women in compared to the healthy young adult.

Dr. Eric L. Ding and colleagues in the study to evaluate "Sex Hormone–Binding Globulin and Risk of Type 2 Diabetes in Women and Men" said, " Among women, higher plasma levels of sex hormone–binding globulin were prospectively associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes and " the predicted odds ratio of type 2 diabetes per standard-deviation increase in the plasma level of sex hormone–binding globulin was 0.28 (95% CI, 0.13 to 0.58) among women and 0.29 (95% CI, 0.15 to 0.58) among men".

The analysis strongly suggested that coffee regardless of types have a negative correlation with risk of diabetes through increasing levels of SHBG.

Additionally, according to the cross-sectional study of 2377 nondiabetic pre- and postmenopausal women from the E3N cohort study in a multivariate-adjusted model, intake of more than 3 cups of coffee daily coffee and caffeine ≥265 mg/day were associated with an increased SHBG level distribution (<46.3 nmol/L), in compared to no risk association of decaffeinated coffee subgroup.

In other words, in low levels of SHBG nondiabetic pre- and postmenopausal in compared to healthy women, injection of caffeinated coffee increased levels of sex hormones estrogen and testosterone

The above analysis was supported by the examination of the study during a median follow-up of 10 years of 359 postmenopausal women with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes matched with 359 control subjects by age, race, duration of follow-up, and time of blood draw, coffee and caffeine were associated with increased levels of free and total testosterone among postmenopausal women.

In Summary, the evidence indicated that coffee and caffeine have an extreme effect in an exhibition of sex hormone estrogen and testosterone through the increased lower level of SHBG in menopause women and prevented the onset of type 2 diabetes without affecting the serum in healthy individuals.

Decaffeinated coffee decreased total and free testosterone through significantly increased levels of SHBG in overweight women who are at risk of diseases associated to over expression of testosterone.

And caffeinated coffee displayed a significantly increased total testosterone and decreased total and free estradiol in men.

Altogether, coffee may be considered as a function food in the mediated production of sexual hormone estrogen and testosterone against diseases and syndromes caused by low levels of SSBG.

How to Improve Your Digestive Functioning Naturally

Fennel may have a therapeutic and profound effect in improving the digestive system in absorbed nutrients and fluids from foods intake, some scientists suggested.

The result of this efficacy was published online by several respectable institutes, including the University of Illinois at Chicago and Afyon Kocatepe University.

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is a plant species of genus, belongings to Apiaceae (Umbelliferae), native to the Mediterranean, used in traditional and herbal medicine as warming, carminative, antispasmodic, antidepressant agent and to stimulate the appetite, ease indigestion, soothe coughing, reduce intestinal spasms, to regulate the menstrual cycle and relieve PMS,...

According to the study, researchers set out a criteria and guideline to investigate the effect of fennel in gram-negative bacterium Helicobacter pylori (HP), the microorganisms has been associated with the development of gastritis and peptic ulcer disease to confirm the theory of used in traditional medicine fennel to treat a wide range of ailments, including gastrointestinal (GI) disorders such as dyspepsia, gastritis and peptic ulcer disease (PUD), application of methanol extracts of botanicals with a MIC of 50 microg/mL included Achillea millefolium, Foeniculum vulgare (seed), exerted a significantly inhibitory effect against all susceptibility of 15 HP strains.

These results suggested that injection of fennel displays a potential effect in balanced the ratio of microorganisms in the gastrointestinal tract, thus improving the function in absorbed and distributed nutrients to the body.

These properties reassured the herbal medicine used in practice for the treatment of numbers symptoms of the digestive disorder.

Furthermore, in an animal model with rat induced gastric lesions induced by injection of ethanol, application of aqueous extracts of Foeniculum vulgare (FVE) showed a strong activity in inhibiting the ulcerogenic expression through its antioxidant activities.

In observation of the efficacy of 60 minutes pre-administration of the doses of fennel extracts at 75, 150 and 300 mg/kg, with famotidine, histamine H₂ receptor antagonist with a function to inhibit stomach acid production at the dose of 20 mg/kg, before injection of ethanol, researchers found that

* Pretreatment of all doses exerts significant gastric protective effects in reduced injury and damage caused by injection of ethanol.

* Fennel extract demonstrates a therapeutic activity linearly in compared to other doses and control at a dose of 300 mg/kg

* These activities were associated to reduce the malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, a marker in the expression of severe levels of oxidative stress.

Additional analysis, also suggested that fennel stimulated gastro-protect effect through its antioxidants and facilitated production of antioxidants in the body tissues in inhibited the overexpression of free radicals, thus maintaining the ratio of microorganisms in the digestive tract and its functioning.

After, taking into account of other co and confounders, researchers also suggested that the results in part may also be attributed to antioxidant in ameliorated lipid peroxidation.

The above differentiation was supported by the joint report lead by the Joint Keio University, in the investigation of fennel properties in associated to functional dyspepsia (FD), a functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by persistent or recurrent postprandial upper abdominal discomfort and epigastric pain.

Truly, delayed gastric emptying and impaired gastric accommodation were found to play important roles in the development of FD.

Anethole (1-methoxy-4-((E)-propenyl)-benzene), a major component of fennel essential oil, in rodents exerted a huge effect in improved clonidine-induced delayed gastric emptying, orally.

Also, application of fennel oil plus Anchu-san (a Japanese herbal medicine containing anethole) demonstrated an important activity in reduced risk of functional dyspepsia (FD) through restoring the delayed gastric emptying.

In other words, anethole processes a gastroprotective efficacy through stimulating gastric accommodation.

Taken together, whole fennel, fennel essential oil, and its bioactive compound anethole may be used as a secondary application in reduced risk and treatment of the digestive disorder.

Adding a portion of fennel in your diet may improve the digestive function in absorption nutrients and fluids from the food intake.

However, intake of supplement should be taken with extreme care as an overdose may cause acute liver toxicity.

How to Accelerate Ecchymosis Healing

Arnica may have a potential and therapeutic effect in reduced expression of Ecchymosis, some scientists suggested.

The results of these efficacy were confirmed by some studies conducted by numbers of respectable institutes, including University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and University of South Florida.

Ecchymosis is a condition of discoloration of the skin as a result of bleeding underneath. In most cases it is caused by bruising.

Arnica is a herbaceous species, genus perennial, belongings to the family Asteraceae, antive to Europe and Asia, used in herbal medicine for centuries to treat strains, sprains, and bruises.

Wound healing is process of repairing of damage of skin, tissues, organs, etc.

The ingredients
Helenalin, chamissonolid, Sesquiterpene lactone, lignans of the furofuran, dibenzylbutyrolactone, dibenzylbutyrolactol types, pinoresinol, epipinoresinol, phillygenin, matairesinol, nortrachelogenin, and nortracheloside, six dibenzylbutyrolactol derivative.

In order to confirm the effect of herbal Arnice activity in treatment of ecchymosis in patients who under went rhinoplasty, the most common facial plastic surgical procedure, researchers at the joint study lead by the University of South Florida independently conducted a review of literature in databases (PubMed, SCOPUS, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane database) from inception to September 2016, included studies that compared postoperative care methods (intervention groups) with no treatment (control group).

According to the final searching of 11 trials satisfied the criteria and guideline with a total of 627 patients, application of topical Arnica showed a significant effect in reduced eyelid ecchymosis during the first 7 days postoperative statistically in compared to the control group.

However, eyelid ecchymosis during the first 24 h postoperatively were statistically decreased in the cold compression group in compared to the control and treatment group.

Patients' questionnaires returned also expressed a strong satisfaction in the tapping application group than in the control group.

Also, the ratio of patient satisfaction was statistically higher in the tapping and Arnica application group than those of control.

Additionally, the analysis also found that surgeons had a significant tendency to decrease intranasal packing in remove pain from the surgery area as the placement was found to associate with more adverse effects in terms of postoperative ecchymosis in compared to non-packing.

Further differentiation to confirm the effectiveness of the combination of topical Arnica montana and Rhododendron tomentosum (Ledum palustre) in reducing postoperative ecchymosis in a select population of healthy volunteers after oculofacial surgery, researchers launched a review to examine the postoperative course, using topical Arnica and Ledum after undergoing common oculofacial procedures, including blepharoplasty, browpexy, and rhinoplasty, in the hands of 4 surgeons at tertiary referral centers from July 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012.

A total of 27 patients (16 females, 11 males) with age range of 18 to 70 years were included in the study.

Selected medical review showed that patients applied bilaterally topical hydrogel pads (OcuMend, Cearna Inc., Chicago, IL) containing Arnica 50 M (10) 50% and Ledum 50 M (10) after surgery through postoperative day(POD) 6 at each postoperative visit.

These results of everyday progression in patients were evaluated by their respective surgeons.

The physician-patient rating score were used to compare each patient's observed healing in each group.

Photographs in each examination also were recorded.

The median duration of follow-up was 7 days, range from 1 to 14 days.

According to the rating of final examination,
* The proportions of patients with markedly accelerated healing were 38.5% (5 of 13), 85.7% (6 of 7), 60.0% (12 of 20), and 51.9% (14 of 27) at POD 1 to 2, 3 to 5, 6 to 8, and overall, respectively.

* The proportions of patients with accelerated healing at the same time points were 15.4% (2 of 13), 14.3% (1 of 7), 30.0% (6 of 20), and 37.0% (10 of 27), respectively.

* The proportion of patients using Arnica/Ledum with markedly accelerated healing was significantly higher than the over all and time point proportion of the other groups at (post operative day) POD 3 to 5 (85.7%), POD 6 to 8 (60.0% ), and overall (51.9%) without inducing any adverse effects.

The findings suggested that combination of Arnica/Ledum were more effective in compared to other treatments.

Dr. Lee HS, the lead author said, "The preliminary results from this study demonstrate that the combination of topical Arnica montana and Rhododendron tomentosum (Ledum palustre) may be effective in reducing postoperative ecchymosis...., after oculofacial surgery".

Taken together, topical Arnica may be used alone or combined with other herbal medicine to accelerate the healing of ecchymosis

In the study to analyze the association between body mass, selected indicator food intake, and vulvar cancer risk of 125 women aged 80 years or younger with histologically confirmed diagnosis of invasive vulvar cancer, admitted to a network of general and teaching hospitals in the greater Milan area in compared to Control subjects of 541 patients admitted to teaching and general hospitals in Milan for acute conditions, researcher found that carrot consumption is associated to reduce risk of the cancer.

In compared to others in exerted inconsistent association of risk of vulvar cancer such as milk, meat, liver, alcohol and coffee consumption, carrot demonstrated a significantly decreased risk ratio of 1.4.

The results suggest that certain factors in the dietary and nutritional aspects may process related mechanisms in risk of vulvar cancer.

Further analysis of carrot effect in risk of vulvar cancer inregard of the micro nutrients expression, researchers found that serum concentrations of vitamin A (retinol), vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) and total carotene were lower in women with vulvar cancer but no difference to women with other types of female reproductive cancer such as cervical, endometrial and ovarian carcinomas.

In compared to healthy control, the mean levels of vitamin A was significantly less in patients with vulvar cancer.

However, according to the Mercer University, in analysis of the patients with metastasising carcinoma of the uterine cervix or recurrent disease after failure of surgical and/or radiation and chemotherapy therapy.

13-cis-retinoic acid and interferon alpha-2 a in the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix in 6 patients with locally recurrent or metastasising squamous cell carcinomas, five of the uterine cervix, one of the vulva. in the period of 52 days, median survival time 107 days, filed the results as follows
* 3 women experienced progression of disease uninfluenced by therapy.
* 1 patient with multiple subcutaneous lymph node metastases showed mixed response for a short period of 3 weeks before progression and eventual death.
* 1 patient had no change or disease for 13 months with subsequent progression and eventual death after 22 months.
* One patient could not be evaluated for an allergic reaction after only 15 days of treatment.

The application also induced adverse effects of "flu-like symptoms", skin irritations, conjunctivitis sicca and chileitis, all WHO 1-2.

Overall toxicity is extremely low in compared to standard chemotherapy, but is not negligible.

The failure of study in treatment of advance vulvar cancer may be due to numbers of implication, researchers at the Mercer University suggested , "this might be due to the small number of cases, which is a common problem in immunotherapeutic studies. Moreover, very unfavourable patient selection criteria in our study compared to primarily untreated patients may also have contributed to different response rates. However, in our opinion the tested regimen cannot be considered sufficiently effective in patients suffering from pretreated, recurrent squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix or vulva".

Taken together, Carrot with high amount of nutrients and antioxidants may be used as functional food in reduced risk and combined with standard therapy for treatment of vulvar cancer. However, multi centers and large sample size studies are necessary to re confirm this viability.

How to Prevent and Treat Infectious Diseases Naturally and Effectively

Including green tea as a beverage in your diet may have a therapeutic and positive effect in reduced risk and treatment of bacterial and viral infectious diseases, some scientists suggested.

The results of the analysis were carried out by numbers of institutes, including the Yonsei University and punished on online medical literature.

Green tea, is a precious drink processed numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and Western world.

According to Review provided by VeriMed Healthcare Network. intake of green tea 2 to 4 cups per day by steep covered 5 to 10 minutes for leaf or flowers and 10 to 20 minutes for roots was associated to support immunity while providing antibacterial and antiviral activity.

Also, green tea (Camellia sinensis) extract of 250 to 500 mg daily, enhanced immune function due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune effects.

Moreover, tannin, green tea derived polyphenols and other related compounds, in the study to investigate the anti-viral effects of tannins on 12 different viruses including both enveloped viruses (influenza virus H3N2, H5N3, herpes simplex virus-1, vesicular stomatitis virus, Sendai virus and Newcastle disease virus) and non-enveloped viruses (poliovirus, coxsachievirus, adenovirus, rotavirus, feline calicivirus and mouse norovirus) researchers suggested that application of tannin reduced some viral infectivity in compared to persimmon (Diospyros kaki) with more than 4-log scale against all of the viruses tested.

More importantly, the differentiation of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) effect against viral infections also indicated that EGCG injection in solution type and powder types over extended periods at various temperature conditions exerts a strong effect in inhibited the tested human influenza A/H1N1 virus.

Green tea extract in the study also demonstrated potent viral inactivating activity for over a period of up to 2 months.

These results suggested that adding green tea supplement GTE may provide a greater than 4 log10 reduction of viral titers at a wide range of temperatures.

Dr. Lee YH, after taking intoaccount of other co and confouders said, "GTE-based antiviral agents could be formulated as a safe and environmentally friendly personal hygiene against viral infections".

The findings showed that green tea and green tea extract may be considered as function foods in reduced risk and treatment of infectious diseases caused by bacterial and viral invasion.

However, intake of green tea supplementation should be taken with extreme care as acute liver toxicity has been reported in numbers of cases.
