The dream of finding the natural ingredient for prevention and treatment of Insulin Resistance on prediabetes without adverse effects in replacement of conventional medication has not been abated. Some ingredients have to discard due to it can achieve the same potent results in human trials.

Insulin resistance (IR) is a medical condition of the body cells fail to respond to the normal actions of the hormone insulin against intake of glucose.
The recent studies insisted that intake of green banana(1), pineapple(5) and green tea are(7) associated to prevention and treatment of  Insulin Resistance in patient with prediabetes.

Banana is the common name of a genus of tropical herbaceous plants. It can grow from 3 to 9 m and belongs to the family of the lily and the orchid.

According to the study by the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco (UJAT), administration of native banana starch (NBS) reduced body weight and improve insulin resistance in in obese with type 2 diabetics(2).
Dr. Miura T and the research ream at the Suzuka University of Medical Science, insisted that Banaba (Lagerstroemia speciosa L.) extracts decreased blood sugar levels within 30 of orla administration in human subjects. Its corosolic acid also exhibits antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant activities in reduced insulin sensitivity through decreased the levels of high sensitivity C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation, after 6 weeks(3).

In KK-Ay diabetic mice study, banana's corosolic acid oral administration reduced the blood glucose levels in 2 weeks, lowered plasma insulin levels and blood glucose significantly in an insulin tolerance test(4).

Pineapple is a species of Ananas Comos. belong to the family Bromeliaceae and native to southern Brazil and Paraguay. Today it is widely cultivated for commercial and its rich of vitamins and mineral and digesting enzyme bromelin which seems to help digestion at the end of a high protein meal. It is second only to banana as America's most favourite tropical fruit.

Ethanolic extracts of Ananas comosus L. leaves (AC) is found effectively in reduced insulin resistance in HepG2 cells, in high-fat diet-fed and low-dose streptozotozin-treated diabetic rats, according to the study by the Tsinghua University(5).
In diabetic-dyslipidemic rats, oral intake of the extract also significantly inhibited the increase in blood glucose in oral glucose tolerance test, through its anti-diabetic, anti-hyperlipidemic and anti-oxidative activities(6).

Green tea has been a precious drink in traditional Chinese culture and used exceptional in socialization for more than 4000 thousand years used in traditional Chinese medicien for treatment of variety of diseases, including cancers and heart diseases.

In a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 56 obese subjects, daily supplementation with 379 mg of green tea extract (GTE) not only influences blood pressure, inflammation and oxidative stress, and lipid profile, but alos insulin resistance, in patients with obesity-related hypertension(7).

Dr. Hsu CH and the research team at the National Yang-Ming University, also support the use of decaffeinated green tea extract (GTE) for reduction of insulin resistance, according to the clinical result of conducted from December 2007(8).

Selenium-containing tea polysaccharides (Se-GTP), significantly improved insulin sensitivity, and reduced liver steatosis and oxidative stress damage at doses of at 400 and 800 mg in a high fructose-induced insulin resistance and hepatic oxidative injury mice study(9).

Taking all together, Smoothie of green bananas, pineapples and  green tea may be a potent drink for reduced risk and treatment of Insulin Resistance.
People who are at increased risk of Insulin Resistance due to family history, gene mutation, obesity, .....should drink at least one serving daily and people with chronic Insulin Resistance should drink the smoothie as much as they can depending to digestive toleration.
Change of life style and diet pattern are also recommended.
